Jon Bon Jovi delivered a sweet performance as part of the “Celebrating America” concert on Inauguration Day, Jan. 20. The rocker offered up an acoustic version of The Beatles’ tune “Here Comes the Sun,” reflecting the hopeful mood of many Americans as Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were sworn in as the new president and vice president of the United States earlier in the day.

“Little darling, it’s been a long cold lonely winter/ Little darling, it seems like years since it’s been here/ Here comes the sun/ Here comes the sun/ And I say it’s all right,” sang Bon Jovi with a smile, the lyrics perfect for hinting at the long months people have been sheltering at home due to the global coronavirus pandemic. He performed from a pier in Miami, the water shimmering behind him as the peeked through the clouds.

The day before his performance, Bon Jovi shared his excitement at helping to celebrate the beginning of the Biden-Harris administration. “I am very honored to be part of the Presidential Inauguration tomorrow alongside so many incredible people,” he tweeted.

“Celebrating America” came as Inauguration Day began to wrap up. Bruce Springsteen, Justin Timberlake, Demi Lovato, and more musical artists also performed during the concert hosted by Tom Hanks. Earlier in the day, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez and Garth Brooks all performed at the swearing-in ceremony. “Parade Across America” was another of the day’s celebrations, during which the New Radicals reunited for a performance of their hit “You Get What You Give.”
