When Post Malone released F-1 Trillion last year, he conquered yet another genre with the country collab album. And it looks like he’s going back to that well on his next project.

Wink Martindale, who had success as a DJ, radio personality, game show host and TV producer, died in Rancho Mirage, California, on Tuesday (April 15).  He was 91.

Martindale was best-known for hosting Gambit from 1972 to 1976 (and again from 1980 to 1981), Tic-Tac-Dough from 1978 to 1985, High Rollers from 1987 to 1988 and Debt from 1996 to 1998.

He also had a short-lived career as a recording artist. His spoken-word hit “Deck of Cards” reached No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1959. The song had been a No. 2 hit for “T” Texas Tyler in 1948 on Billboard’s Best-Selling Retail Folk Records chart, a forerunner to Hot Country Songs.

Martindale landed just one other Hot 100 hit, “Black Land Farmer,” which reached No. 85 in 1961.

The future broadcaster was born Winston Conrad Martindale in Jackson, Tennessee. He began his career as a DJ at age 17 at WPLI in Jackson, earning $25 a week. After moving to WTJS, he was hired away for double the salary by Jackson’s only other station, WDXI. He next hosted mornings at WHBQ in Memphis while attending college at Memphis State University.

In 1959, he became morning man at KHJ in Los Angeles, moving a year later to the morning show at KRLA and finally to KFWB in 1962. He was a regular presence on Los Angeles radio into the 1990s. He had lengthy stays at KGIL (AM) from 1968 to 1971, KKGO-FM/KJQI and Gene Autry‘s KMPC (now KSPN-AM) from 1971 to 1979 and again from 1983 to 1987, a brief stint on KABC during 1989, and KJQI from 1993 to 1994.

Martindale’s first break into television was at WHBQ-TV in Memphis, as the host of Mars Patrol, a children’s series. While at that station, Martindale became the host of the TV show Teenage Dance Party, where Elvis Presley (who would become a friend) made an appearance in June 1956.

Martindale’s first game-show hosting job was What’s This Song?, which he hosted for NBC (credited as “Win Martindale”) in 1964-65. In 1970-71, he hosted a similar song-recognition game show, Words and Music, again on NBC.

While Martindale’s greatest claim to fame is as a game-show host, he periodically returned to music programming. Martin filled in as guest host for Casey Kasem on American Top 40 in October 1975.

In the 2000s, Martindale had a daily three-hour show on the syndicated Music of Your Life format. In 2012, Martindale hosted the nationally-syndicated The 100 Greatest Christmas Hits of All Time.

On June 6, 2021, Martindale began hosting the syndicated The History of Rock ‘n’ Roll, a two-hour weekend review of music from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. The production was created by Martindale, producer/engineer Peter Jay Gould of The Intervale Group, and writer/producer Gary Theroux.

Martindale was one of the hosts featured in the 2002 NBC special Most Outrageous Game Show Moments, alongside four other game show mainstays – Bob Eubanks, Jim Lange, Ben Stein, and Peter Marshall.

Martindale’s last program was the GSN original series Instant Recall, which premiered on March 4, 2010.

On June 2, 2006, Martindale received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It is located at 7018 Hollywood Boulevard, adjacent to the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel – site of the first Academy Awards ceremony.  On Oct. 13, 2007, Martindale was one of the first inductees into the American TV Game Show Hall of Fame in Las Vegas.

Martindale married Madelyn Leech in 1954, with whom he had four children; the couple divorced in 1972. He married his second wife, Sandy (née Ferra), on Aug. 2, 1975.

Drake went on Adin Ross’ livestream and spilled that he has a new solo album in the works after he received love from Travis Scott and Yeat at Coachella. Keep watching for the full story!

Are you ready for a new Drake album? Let us know in the comments!

Tetris Kelly:

Drake’s recent return with PARTYNEXTDOOR wasn’t enough, as he hints at new music with Adin Ross. After Yeat and Travis Scott showed him all the love at Coachella, we’re breaking it down. “Nokia” just reached a new peak on the Billboard Hot 100, and Drake told Adin Ross on a livestream he appreciates the success, but is ready for a new album. We hope it slaps—the OVO crooner dropped his last solo LP back in 2023. The streets must miss him, because Yeat performed a cover of Drake’s song “Feel No Ways” at Coachella, and Travis Scott performed “Modern Jam” over Drake’s “Nokia” instrumental. Drake himself also mentioned the Wireless Festival, which he’s headlining in London this July.

Olivier Bergeron brought the judges — and much of America — to the brink of tears on American Idol Monday night (April 14), performing Jelly Roll’s “I Am Not Okay” with vulnerability and raw conviction.

The 22-year-old Canadian contestant, who grew up in a French-speaking community in New Brunswick, explained before the performance that music isn’t just a dream for him, it’s a lifeline.

“It’s very hard to be a dreamer where I’m from,” he said in a pre-performance package. “It’s an emergency. I need to be a singer. That’s the only thing I can do. I just want to show to everyone in my hometown that when you believe in something, it’s possible.”

Bergeron took the stage at Disney’s Aulani Resort in Hawaii for the Top 24 round of Season 23, pouring emotion into every line of the Jelly Roll ballad. The artist-in-residence himself was in the audience, and deeply moved by what he witnessed.

“I know what it’s like to be untrained and overwhelmed and just singing from the bottom of my soul with every part of me shaking,” Jelly Roll told Bergeron after the performance. “I see it and I feel it on you. To be a kid that hardly speaks English, to be coming over here and kicking this much butt already, I am a big fan and I am your family.”

The performance quickly became one of the standout moments of the night as voting opened for viewers to help determine who advances to the Top 20.

Other memorable performances during the night included Drew Ryn’s moving rendition of Avril Lavigne’s “I’m With You,” Thunderstorm Artis’ soulful take on Bob Marley’s “Is This Love,” and Mattie Pruitt’s full-circle moment singing Katy Perry’s “Wide Awake.”

Voting for American Idol remains open until 6 a.m. ET on Tuesday (April 15). The Top 14 will be revealed live next Monday, following a three-hour Easter special featuring performances by CeCe Winans, Jelly Roll with Brandon Lake, and more.

Weezer have used their last-minute appearance at Coachella to reveal to fans that the band are currently working on a movie.

The Los Angeles rockers were added to the Saturday (April 12) lineup of the festival’s first weekend, joining the bill following cancellations from FKA Twigs and Anitta due to “ongoing visa issues” and “unexpected personal reasons,” respectively. Ed Sheeran was also added to the festival, though he will appear on the second weekend, performing on Saturday afternoon (April 19).

Appearing just days after the wife of bassist Scott Shriner sustained non-life-threatening injuries during a bizarre run-in with Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers that ended in a dramatic shootout, the group’s 12-song set featured no material released past 2008. However, just before performing 1994’s “Undone – The Sweater Song,” frontman Rivers Cuomo revealed the band have been active in the world of film lately.

“We’ve been busy making the Weezer movie back in LA the last couple weeks,” Cuomo told the crowd. “But when Coachella called us up, said, ‘Hey Weezer, could you guys make it out for a surprise appearance?,’ we’re like, ‘Heck yeah!’ It feels so good to be here with you guys and let out these emotions.”

According to further information shared by fans online, members of the Weezer fan club had received correspondence alerting them that the band would be “doing a private filmed merchandise signing for a select few fans, for a TBA video.” Additionally, it was noted that “selected participants will need to sign a release and NDA prior to arriving,” with a shoot date of April 21 being mentioned.

Elsewhere, fans on X (formerly Twitter) had also shared a photo of a “Notice of Filming” that had appeared in Los Angeles for a scripted feature film. The film, which listed a title of Weezer: Security Threat, also named Watch Me Unravel LLC as the production company (which adopted its moniker from a lyric in “Undone – The Sweater Song”), and alerted those in attendance that that the three day shoot from April 7-9 would feature “simulated bullet effects,” “atmospheric smoke,” and more.

While few details have been officially released by Weezer, it makes them the third Californian band to be the focus of an off-kilter film project in recent years. While Stockton’s Pavement are set to be the focus of the genre-defying Pavements from director Alex Ross Perry, Rodeo trio Green Day are in the process of filming New Years Rev, which is inspired by the group and their years of living in a tour van.

Veteran performer Barry Manilow will be taking a break from his ongoing Las Vegas residency over the coming months to embark upon a final run of North American concert dates.

Dubbed “The Last Concerts,” Manilow’s upcoming run of arena shows will launch in late May and run until early June, before a return to his ongoing residency precedes another batch of newly-announced dates in July. Those dates will again be followed by a return to Las Vegas, and a handful of holiday shows in December.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to visit these great cities of which I have so many fond memories,” Manilow said in a statement. “Each one is special to my touring history.”

News of the “Copacabana” singer’s upcoming North American dates comes just a few months after he announced a lifetime residency at his longtime home, the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino.

Manilow launched his “The Hits Come Home” residency at the Westgate Hotel in 2021, marking the third Vegas hotel at which he had a residency. He had previously set up shop at the Las Vegas Hilton from February 2005 to December 2009, and he followed with his “Manilow Paris Las Vegas” at the Paris Hotel & Casino at Las Vegas from March 2010 to December 2012.

His current run of residency dates see him booked until Dec. 13, though he will perform five shows for Manilow’s A Gift of Love VII concerts at Palm Desert’s McCallum Theatre only days later.

Elton John and Brandi Carlile’s first collaborative album, Who Believes in Angels?, debuts at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 chart dated April 19, marking the 22nd top 10 for John and fourth for Carlile.

John earned his first Billboard 200 top 10 more than 54 years ago, with his self-titled album on the Jan. 30, 1971-dated chart. A living soloist last logged a longer top 10 span on the Oct. 16, 2021-dated survey, when Tony Bennett’s Love for Sale, with Lady Gaga, debuted at No. 8. It gave the then-95-year-old Bennett a 59-year top 10 stretch, dating to I Left My Heart in San Francisco in October 1962.

As for Carlile, she notched her first top 10 on the Billboard 200 in 2012 with Bear Creek, which debuted and peaked at No. 10 on the June 23, 2012-dated list.

Who Believes in Angels? earned 40,000 equivalent album units in the United States in its opening week (April 4-10), according to Luminate. The album’s sales (36,500) were bolstered by its availability across seven vinyl and five CD variants, including signed versions.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. The new April 19, 2025-dated chart will be posted in full on Billboard‘s website on April 15.

The new album also takes a bow atop both the Top Rock Albums and Top Rock & Alternative Albums charts, while also opening in the top 10 on Top Album Sales (No. 2), Indie Store Album Sales (No. 2) and Vinyl Albums (No. 3).

John and Carlile ushered in the release of the album with a flurry of media appearances, including CBS News Sunday Morning (CBS, March 30), The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (April 3), Saturday Night Live (NBC, April 5) and the concert special An Evening With Elton John and Brandi Carlile (CBS and Paramount+, April 6), along with interviews with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, NPR and SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show, among other outlets.

Meanwhile, the album’s title track extended John’s record for the most top 10s (43) in the history of the Adult Contemporary chart, where it rises to a new No. 9 high on the chart dated April 19.

“Nobody wants another Elton John album like the other 35 [I’ve made],” John recently told Billboard. “This one had to have energy, and it had to have a statement saying: ‘Listen, I’m nearly 78 and I’m gonna be really sounding powerful.’” Said Carlile, “I don’t think it’ll ever really catch up to how incredibly life-affirming this has been for me.”

54 Years of Top 10 Albums: John earned his first Billboard 200 top 10 a little over 54 years ago, when his self-titled album climbed 11-7 on the Jan. 30, 1971-dated chart; it peaked at No. 4 a week later (Feb. 6, 1971). Breaking down John’s 22 top 10s by decade: 13 in the 1970s, two in the 1990s, one in the 2000s, four in the 2010s and two in the 2020s. Who Believes in Angels? is John’s second album with shared artist billing to reach the top 10, following The Union, with Leon Russell, which reached No. 3 in 2010.

John continues to be among elite company of acts with at least 20 top 10-charting albums on the Billboard 200, from March 24, 1956, when the list began publishing on a regular, weekly basis, through the new, April 19, 2025-dated chart. Here’s an updated leaderboard:

Notably, the Kidz Bop Kids music brand has collected 24 top 10s, in 2005-16, with its series of kid-friendly covers of hit singles. The franchise’s early albums were performed mostly by anonymous studio singers, although later releases focused on branding named talent.

The first weekend of Coachella 2025 featured some of the hottest stars, including JENNIE, LISA and Cardi B. From on stage with the hottest sets and surprises to backstage with the artists themselves and the hottest parties in the desert, we are taking you to Coachella in Billboard All Access Coachella. Day 1 was all about LISA and Lady Gaga, but before we hit the Polo Fields, Billboard hung out with White Claw and Maren Morris on Thursday night. Then on Friday, we got the day started with some shopping and getting refreshed at 818. Damien kept all the vibes going at Yuma before we got to see Anyma join Yeat at Sahara. Lisa slayed Sahara with her hits and some new ‘Alter Ego’ tracks, and even XG was excited for Lady Gaga. It was a spectacle, as expected, for Gaga.

Some of the desert’s hottest moments came at night, and Nylon had festivalgoers and stars dancing the night away. We also dropped by Zenyara for Desert Nights.

Day 2 kicked off by getting charmed with Pandora at a relaxing oasis. Over at the Ace Hotel, Billboard and Amazon teamed up with comedian and musical improviser Reggie Watts, who pulled up and offered attendees some sick beats on top of a colossal-sized couch.

And, of course, the famous Revolve Fest with Cardi B herself! Then we got to go say hi to ENHYPEN before their big set. The K-pop kings lit up the stage with hot choreo, and the fans loved it all. After the set, they were so happy.

Keep watching for more!

For some artists, playing Coachella is an undeniable career peak. But it isn’t merely about booking the stage; you have to be prepared to seize the moment and define the narrative of your career.

After performing dazzling sets twice with BLACKPINK in 2019 and 2023, LISA and JENNIE both booked Coachella 2025 as soloists, ready to use the iconic desert festival to prove themselves equally as powerful on their own and what they’ve learned after nearly a decade on the scene. While being part of a K-pop girl group — no matter how acclaimed — inevitably invites skeptics, the powerhouse performers flipped any expectations and took command to turn past critiques into commendation.

LISA hit Coachella’s Sahara stage the evening of the first day of the festival, Friday, to give her biggest and most expansive set since releasing her Alter Ego solo album, which landed in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 and earned three hit singles on the Hot 100. LISA showcased herself as a multi-dimensional performer with her show divided into five acts that gave further insight into how the “alter ego” theme played into her music.

Meanwhile, JENNIE hit the Outdoor Theatre on the final day of Coachella 2025, Sunday, to show she could evolve from the intimate concert she created with The Ruby Experience concert and now command an entire festival audience. The starlet used her time in the desert to display her singing, dancing and rapping talents and even had a special guest, Kali Uchis, join her halfway through the set.
