Camila Cabello got candid about her relationship with Shawn Mendes in a note shared with her fans Saturday night (Nov. 28).

“I’ve learned a lot about love with this guy,” Cabello wrote about her boyfriend on Instagram. “It’s not just the happy blissful moments you see in pictures and videos- When you’re in a relationship with someone, it feels like they are this mirror reflecting yourself back to you- I constantly have to confront my fears, my anxieties, my insecurities, my patterns of thinking, my beliefs about life and about myself.”

She continued: “It’s not as simple as it looks in pictures sometimes. sometimes, it’s messy and uncomfortable and ugly lol. But there’s nothing like the pull, the FORCE that is love, to be the light in the darkness- to be the gravitational pull that gives you the relentless strength to be braver, wiser, and better than you were yesterday.”

“It’s so instinctive for us to love,” wrote Cabello, “even if our minds try to protect us from it sometimes, but our nature as humans is to love. And to be in love means to choose that person over and over again, to go through the messy stuff with. And that’s way more beautiful and raw and real than perfection.”

The singer went on to explain why she’s willing to speak so openly to her fans.

“I’m all for being vulnerable on social media because I think only the neatness and perfection of life is shown on here; and that can make us all feel extra lonely and weird! So raise your glass to the messiness and weirdness of being human and the miracle. And the easiness. And the instinct. And the relentless force that is love.”

Mendes recently spoke of Cabello being a calming presence in his life.

“For seven years, I was on such a speedy path down one way with blinders on, and I wasn’t keeping in touch with my family and friends,” he said. “But when I landed with Camila, immediately she had her family around more. [She’s] all about the family and friends, and it really made me like, ‘Oh, I should call my mom’ … I felt a little bit alone out there and she changed that for me.”

Peacock has apologized for a Saved by the Bell episode that referenced Selena Gomez’s kidney transplant in a brief scene as well as donated to the singer’s lupus charity following social media criticism over the episode.

“We apologize. It was never our intention to make light of Selena’s health. We have been in touch with her team and will be making a donation to her charity, The Selena Gomez Fund for Lupus Research at USC,” Peacock, NBC Universal and the show’s executive producers said in statement given to The Hollywood Reporter on Saturday (Nov. 28).

Fans criticized the show on social media throughout Saturday, causing “Respect Selena Gomez” to trend on Twitter.

In the sixth episode of the reboot, which premiered earlier this week, the students of Bayside High have their phones taken away and don’t know what to do without having access to the internet. In one scene, two students argue over who donated a kidney to the singer in 2017 after she had been diagnosed with lupus years earlier, as they do not have immediate access to web resources to confirm their questions.

In 2017, Gomez shared she had a kidney transplant over the summer due to her battle with lupus, an autoimmune disease that she was diagnosed with five years prior. The singer shared photos of her donor, close friend Francia Raisa, on social media and opened up about the secret surgery in an exclusive interview on Today.

The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to Selena Gomez’s rep for comment.

Lil Wayne will no longer be appearing at the highly anticipated Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. fight. The rapper called off his scheduled performance just hours ahead of the event Saturday night (Nov. 28).

“Due to unforeseeable circumstances I won’t be performing tonight at the Tyson/Jones fight,” Lil Wayne wrote on Twitter. “Hope the event is still a success and much love to Triller.”

Lil Wayne. who just dropped his No Ceilings 3 mixtape, had previously hyped up the night when his appearance was announced earlier this month. In a statement at the time, he’d said: “This event is going to go down in history, no doubt. I’m grateful to be a part of it and share the arena with two living legends. I’m stoked to perform and give the fans something they can rock to.”

The eight-round exhibition fight between Tyson and Jones will be part of Saturday night’s four-hour live event. French Montana, Wiz Khalifa and YG are among the artists listed on the musical lineup. On Saturday night, Snoop Dogg tweeted that he’d joined the bill.

Viewing options for the fight at Los Angeles’ Staples Center, which starts at 9 p.m. ET, can be found at TysonOnTriller.com.

Drake and his son Adonis were snuggled up together in a new picture posted on social media Friday night (Nov. 27).

The rapper appeared to be taking a nap while the three-year-old, who looked like he was having a snack, rested his head on his dad.

Justin Bieber, Chance the Rapper and DJ Khaled were among those leaving comments on the Instagram snapshot, which had more than four million likes as of Sunday afternoon.

Now this is beautiful,” Bieber wrote about the father-son moment.

Drake shared the first public pictures of Adonis in March and has been posting occasional photos of him since then. In September, Drake showed off his son’s first day of school. In October, he let Instagram in on the celebration of Adonis’ third birthday, giving a glimpse at the pair enjoying the little guy’s special day.

Selena Gomez fans are defending the singer after her health was mocked during an episode of Peacock’s reboot of Saved by the Bell.

During a scene in the new series, which premiered Nov. 25 on the NBCUniversal’s streaming service Peacock, two high school students are seen arguing about who the donor was for Gomez’s kidney transplant in 2017.

The 28-year-old singer has lived with Lupus for many years and underwent a kidney transplant about three years ago. She later revealed that the donor was her best friend Francia Raisa.

“I know for a fact that Selena Gomez’s kidney donor was Justin Bieber’s mom. God, I wish that I had my phone so that I could prove it,” one character says. The other student replies, “Prove what? That you’re an idiot? It was Demi Lovato’s kidney. They’re best friends, like you and I were.”

In a later scene, the words “Does Selena Gomez even have a kidney?” are written near some lockers on the walls of the high school.

Selenators definitely didn’t find the scenes funny. Many took to social media to call for the removal of Saved by the Bell from Peacock, and started the trend “RESPECT SELENA GOMEZ” on Twitter.

“using what selena gomez went through for entertainment is blatantly insensitive and wrong,” one fan tweeted. “what she went through was real and it wasn’t easy. it’s so incredibly disgusting seeing it be used as a joke for entertainment. RESPECT SELENA GOMEZ.”

Another wrote, “.@peacockTV we demand an apology to @selenagomez for making fun of Selena’s health issues. 5M – 10M people die from kidney diseases every year. Serious health issues should never be a joke. Stop using Selena’s struggles for profit for your flop show.”

In September 2017, Gomez revealed she had undergone a kidney transplant to combat her lupus, an autoimmune and inflammatory disease that sometimes causes kidney failure, when she posted an Instagram picture of hers holding hands with grown-ish star and kidney donor Raisa in their adjacent hospital beds.

Taylor Swift is mouthing “retweet 4ever” in Jack Antonoff’s direction after seeing his tweet about their live rendition of “August” on her timeline.

“i like to play august,” Antonoff wrote on Thursday (Nov. 26), a day after the release of Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions.

Swift related to that thought and shared a short and sweet reaction: “retweet 4ever.”

Swift — along with producers Antonoff and Aaron Dessner — performed the full Folklore album in the same room together for the first time for the cozy, acoustic session, which is now streaming on Disney+, and its accompanying live album.

Swift and Antonoff, who had worked on “August” together from afar during the pandemic, seemed to have a blast bringing the tune to life again live at Long Pond Studio.

The Folklore hitmaker has been joining the chatter about her live new release on Twitter over the past couple days, replying to not only Antonoff, but also fans.

“i’m so happy we got to hear the stories behind these masterpieces!!” one fan tweeted. “it only added to my appreciation for taylor’s expert songwriting! so in love with them all.”

“Thank you so much, I’m glad,” Swift said. “Folklore is partly personal, partly fictional so I wanted there to be some time for everyone to assign it to their own experiences before I really weighed in about mine. Ya know?”

“Gosh the illicit affairs bridge literally wrecks me every single time,” one person admitted. Swift agreed: “Yeah that one scalds. Like why is it so sad?? I remember finishing that bridge and thinking it was like level 7 sad. But. It’s a 13.”

She even coined a new term in response to a reaction about her facial expressions while singing “Mad Woman”: “ah yes, the FolkGLARE,” Swift quipped.

“I miss you guys terribly and am gonna keep trying to find ways to keep us connected during these times,” Swift promised in reply to another fan tweet.

Nicki Minaj has an awfully cute companion this Friday night.

The rapper posted a sweet voice note with a message from her baby to her devoted Barbz on Twitter on Nov. 27.

The audio starts off with a baby cooing, followed by Minaj speaking in a sugary voice.

“Say hi to the Barbz, papa bear. Say hi,” she says to the infant.

“Whatcha doin’? Say something,” says Minaj with a laugh. “Aww, you said hi to the Barbz? Good boy.”

Minaj welcomed her son with husband Kenneth Petty on Sept. 30. The couple celebrated the first wedding anniversary on Oct. 21, and they shared the first photo of their little one — an image of a tiny baby foot — on that day.

After a long-awaited Thanksgiving, it’s time to kick back and relax this Black Friday with some queer tunes! Billboard Pride is here to help with First Out, our weekly roundup of some of the best new music releases from LGBTQ artists.

From Rina Sawayama’s Chromatica-esque pop escape, to King Princess’ continued adventure in the world of dance music, check out some of our favorite new releases this week.

Rina Sawayama, “Lucid”

For fans of both Rina Sawayama’s debut album, Sawayama, and Lady Gaga’s dance-pop haven Chromatica, this new single is exactly for you. Sawayama teams up with Chromatica producer BloodPop on “Lucid,” a pure electro-pop banger where the star decides to dissociate into her own dream world, conjuring up her fantasy relationship while the throbbing house beats and glittering synth runs pulsate around her.

“Me and Lauren Aquilina wrote this together on the floor of my tiny rented living room back in early 2018,” Sawayama said of putting the new song together. “BloodPop sent us the beat and the melody flowed out so easily that I remember at one point I started hoovering ’cause I knew this would be easy to write lol. I’ve kept this song secret for 2 years so I’m so excited to finally release it to the world! 2020’s been a tough year so I wanted to finish it off with a dance bop to take us into a more hopeful 2021.”

King Princess, “Pain”

On her debut album, King Princess established herself as a new alt-pop/pop-rock icon — but with her latest string of singles, she’s trying something else entirely. “Pain,” for example, employs some of the star’s best tactics: a grooving bass line, her top-notch vocals, and much more. But added in are some key dance signifiers — a smashing 808 beat, a few production breakdowns, and much more. It makes for one of her most interesting tracks yet, as King Princess straddles the line between dance and rock effortlessly.

“It’s probably my favorite song I’ve ever written,” she told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe of the new track. “It makes me so happy when I listened to it. I haven’t gotten sick of it … I think what I love about it is it’s got that f–king piano. It’s the ultimate George Michael-meets-Erotica-era Madonna-meets- an incredible remix if you’re in a gay club that makes you uncomfortable and horny.”

Arlo Parks, “Caroline”

Ever sat back and watched a couple get into a very public fight that ends in disaster? Arlo Parks certainly has, as she describes in vivid detail on her new song “Caroline,” the latest single from her upcoming album, Collapsed in Sunbeams (due out Jan. 29). Parks’ intimate vocals and simple production remain intact, with the focus of the new single instead placed on the storytelling in her lyrics, where a couple of strangers go from lovers to foes in a few verses and choruses.

“Caroline is an exercise in people watching and seeing situations unfold without context,” Parks said of her new track. “It’s an exploration of how something once full of healthy passion can dissolve in an instant.”

Bronze Avery, “Sea Salt (feat. Miss Benny)”

For his latest single, Bronze Avery decided to team up with fellow rising queer pop star Miss Benny for a moving song about finding healing. Like its namesake, “Sea Salt” is all about allowing yourself to mend, even if it means putting some extra sting on the wound. The pair’s vocals fit near-perfectly together, and the mellowed-out, guitar-based production will send you into a blissed out trance.

“‘Sea Salt’ is about cleansing open emotional wounds, enduring pain, and the rigorous process of healing while finding a new place for someone in your life who’s hurt you,” Avery tells Billboard of the song. “The song was inspired by loving someone so much despite the hate the world has for them. It’s about embracing that love, knowing it’s place so it doesn’t harm you, and becoming a source of refuge for that person.”

Ty Herndon, Regifted

With Thanksgiving behind us, it’s undoubtedly the holiday season now — which means Ty Herndon is here to spread some Christmas cheer with his new album of Christmas music! On Regifted, the out country star covers classic Christmas tracks, like “Little Drummer Boy,” “Silent Night,” “Oh Come All Ye Faithful” and many more. But the key track comes in his cover of Avalon’s 2006 song “Orphans of God,” in which Herndon teams up with none other than Kristin Chenoweth and pianist Paul Cardall to deliver a moving message about love and acceptance.

The Frock Destroyers, “Her Majesty”

“You’ve officially been Frock Destroyed.” With those words, RuPaul’s Drag Race U.K. stars Baga Chipz, Blu Hydrangea and Divina de Campo became eternally etched in the minds of Drag Race fans everywhere as the all-girl pop group the Frock Destroyers. At long last, it looks like the band is getting back together — on their new single (off of their soon-to-be-released album) “Her Majesty” is a tongue-in-cheek kiss off to those who would try to detract from the trio. “You can call me ‘her majesty,’ nothing else really works for me,” they sing on the chorus, declaring their rightful place on the throne of drag music.

“I’m so excited about the album, it’s a bit of a Steps going to dinner with Little Mix hosted by three drag queens,” de Campo said of their upcoming album Frock4Life. “There are proper bangers with some tongue in cheek foolishness and great vocals. I cannot wait for everyone to hear it.”

Bellsavvy, “In My Zone”

Trying to burn off some of that Thanksgiving meal from last night? Then get up and start dancing to Bellsavvy’s flashy new single “In My Zone,” a Latin-tinged pop banger where the star turns up the heat on her production to deliver a full dance fantasy. Especially with producer Sky Adams at the helm (a frequent producer of Kylie Minogue, and a producer of Doja Cat’s “Boss B—h”), Bellsavvy’s new track will have you prancing around your apartment, dancing and singing along.

N0t Listed, “Ridin’ This Wave”

For anyone who’s been missing the new wave pop movement, please meet N0t Listed — the trio’s debut single “Ridin’ This Wave” establishes the new pop group as the answer to the disco revolution happening in pop music right now, as they enter the scene with a clearly defined ’90s pop-meets-rock sound, fused with modern production to create a new fusion of sound for fans to get into.

“We want people to feel sexy, free and the queen or king of their own personal dancefloor when listening to the song,” Josh, one of the new band’s members, explained of the track. “It’s super dance-y, 90’s poppy and fun at the same time!”

Cher is in Pakistan to celebrate the departure of Kaavan, dubbed the “world’s loneliest elephant,” who will soon leave a Pakistani zoo for better conditions after years of lobbying by animal rights groups and activists.

Because of security concerns, Cher’s schedule was not made public. However, she met Friday (Nov. 27) with Prime Minister Imran Khan and was expected to visit Kaavan later in the trip, according to the prime minister’s office. Khan’s office released a video of the singer sitting with the prime minister outside on the expansive grounds of Khan’s residence.

Kaavan, the elephant has languished in the zoo for 35 years, and lost his partner in 2012. He was diagnosed by veterinarians as both overweight and malnourished, and also suffers behavioral issues due to his isolation.

Kaavan is set to leave for a sanctuary in Cambodia on Sunday, said Martin Bauer of Four Paws International, a global animal welfare group that’s led the charge to save him since 2016.

Cher took up Kaavan’s cause and has been a loud voice advocating for his resettlement. Four Paws, which often carries out animal rescue missions, has provided the medical treatment needed before Kaavan can travel and will accompany him to the sanctuary.

Even after he’s in Cambodia, he’ll require years of physical and even psychological assistance, Bauer said.

Because of the abysmal living conditions blamed on systemic negligence, Pakistan’s high court in May ordered the closure of Marghazar Zoo in the capital of Islamabad, where Kaavan has lived for much of his life.

A medical examination in September showed Kaavan’s nails were cracked and overgrown — the result of years of living in an improper enclosure with flooring that damaged his feet.

The elephant has also developed stereotypical behavior, shaking his head back and forth for hours, which the medical team of wildlife veterinarians and experts blamed on his utter boredom.

For the past three months, a Four Paws team including veterinarian Dr. Amil Khalil and the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board has been readying Kaavan to leave.

Khalil first met Kaavan in 2016, and returned to the zoo in August, where he was heartbroken at the animal’s condition. Khalil has spent the last three months trying to get him ready for his trip to Cambodia.

Kaavan was put on a diet of fruit and vegetables, and as a result has lost half a ton (450 kilograms), he said. Previously, Kaavan was eating 250 kilograms (550 pounds) of pure sugar cane every day, with an occasional fruit and vegetable.

The veterinarian said this was the first time in 30 years that he developed a strong emotional bond with a rescue animal. Now, the “world’s loneliest elephant” comes lumbering over when he hears Khalil’s voice.

“I was always moving, so never allowed myself to develop an emotional attachment,” but with Kaavan he couldn’t resist, Khalil said. He said he has pampered and protected him for the past three months, cajoling him into losing weight as well as being less fidgety and more relaxed so he can make the trip to Cambodia.

Khalil said there are many elephants at the sanctuary, but in particular three female elephants are awaiting Kaavan’s arrival.

Khalil joked that Kaavan might just find a girlfriend there — who knows?

Bauer lauded the powerful impact celebrity voices can have for animal rights.

“Celebrities lending their voices to good causes are always welcomed, as they help starting public discourse and raising pressure on responsible authorities,” he said.

“Around the globe there are animal lovers, famous and not famous, and the support of every single one of them is crucial,” he added.
