Jelly Roll racks up his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart as Beautifully Broken bows atop the list dated Oct. 26. The set enters with 161,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Oct. 17, according to Luminate – the artist’s best week ever by units. The set’s first week was largely driven by album sales – 114,000 – likewise marking Jelly Roll’s largest sales week yet. The album also opens at No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart.

Beautifully Broken marks Jelly Roll’s second top 10-charting effort on the Billboard 200, following the No. 3-peaking Whitsitt Chapel in 2023.

Beautifully Broken additionally achieves the third-largest week, by units, for any country album in 2024, following the debut frames of Beyoncé and Post Malone’s premiere country sets. In total, Jelly Roll scores the fifth country album to lead the all-genre Billboard 200 in 2024 – the most in a year since 2014, when there were also five. (Country albums are defined as those that are eligible for, or have charted on, Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.)

Elsewhere in the top 10 of the latest Billboard 200, Rod Wave secures his seventh consecutive top 10 – the entirety of his charting efforts – as Last Lap debuts at No. 2, Charli XCX’s Brat bounds 14-3 (matching its debut and peak rank) after a deluxe reissue, GloRilla lands her first top 10 with the No. 5 bow of Glorious, and BigXthaPlug notches his first top 10 with the No. 8 arrival of Take Care.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. The new Oct. 26, 2024-dated chart will be posted in full on Billboard‘s website on Tuesday, Oct. 22. For all chart news, follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both X, formerly known as Twitter, and Instagram.

Of Beautifully Broken’s 161,000 equivalent album units earned in its first week, album sales comprise 114,000; SEA units comprise 44,000 (equaling 58.86 million on-demand official streams of the 28 songs on its streaming edition); and TEA units comprise 3,000. The album was issued as a 14-track standard release (on CD, vinyl and cassette), a 22-track expanded album (as a digital download and streaming set), a 27-track deluxe edition (sold as a download in Jelly Roll’s official webstore) and a 28-track deluxe album (dubbed Beautifully Broken [Pickin’ Up the Pieces], widely available as a digital download and streaming set).

The album’s opening week sales were bolstered by its availability across seven vinyl variants, three CD variants (the CDs sold a combined 65,000, including a signed edition sold through the artist’s webstore), a cassette tape and three download album variants (the downloads sold 32,000). Net profits from pre-orders of the CD and vinyl in his webstore benefitted four charity organizations: Folds of Honor, National Alliance on Mental Illness, Shatterproof and Wounded Warriors.

Beautifully Broken was preceded by a trio of charting songs on the Billboard Hot 100: “I Am Not Okay,” “Lonely Road” (with MGK) and “Liar.” They are three of Jelly Roll’s nine songs to debut on the Hot 100 in 2024 – the others include collaborations with the likes of Eminem, Post Malone and Falling in Reverse.

Rod Wave lands his seventh top 10-charting album on the Billboard 200 – the entirety of his charting efforts – as Last Lap bows at No. 2 with 127,000 equivalent album units earned. Of that sum, SEA units comprise 125,000 (equaling 173.35 million on-demand official streams of the set’s 23 songs; it’s No. 1 on Top Streaming Albums), album sales comprise 2,000 and TEA units comprise a negligible sum.

Last Lap was previewed by a pair of Hot 100-charting songs: “Passport Junkie” and “Fall Fast In Love.”

Wave has logged at least one Billboard 200 top 10 every year since 2019, beginning with his first charting set, Ghetto Gospel (No. 10, 2019) and continuing on with Pray 4 Love (No. 2, 2020), SoulFly (No. 1, 2021), Beautiful Mind (No. 1, 2022), Jupiter’s Diary: 7 Day Theory (No. 9, 2022), Nostalgia (No. 1, 2023) and Last Lap (No. 2, 2024). The only other act with at least one new top 10 in every year over 2019-24 is Taylor Swift.

Charli XCX’s Brat bounds 14-3, matching its debut rank and peak position, following the album’s deluxe reissue on Oct. 11. It earned 105,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Oct. 17 – the set’s biggest week yet. Of that sum, SEA units comprise 57,000 (equaling 73.63 million on-demand official streams of the set’s songs), album sales comprise 48,000 and TEA units comprise less than 1,000.

Brat was originally released on June 7 as a 15-song standard album. It was reissued in a deluxe form on June 10 with three bonus songs, dubbed Brat and it’s the same but there’s three more songs so it’s not. After its first tracking week, Brat (with both versions combined for charting and tracking purposes) debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 (dated June 22).

On Oct. 11, the album was reissued in a 34-track super deluxe form (named Brat and it’s completely different but also still brat), containing the original album’s 15 songs, the three bonus cuts added on June 10, and then 16 remixes of the set’s tracks featuring a star-studded guest list (including The 1975, Bon Iver, Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Lorde and many more). Then, on Oct. 14, the completely different album was reissued, adding a remix of “Spring Breakers” with Kesha to its tracklist, bringing the total track count to 35.

The 34-track completely different edition of Brat was released for sale as a digital download, CD, three-LP vinyl and a double-cassette tape, plus as a streaming album. The 35-track edition of the album was available to purchase as a download, and to stream.

All versions of Brat are combined for tracking and charting purposes.

Sabrina Carpenter’s former No. 1 Short n’ Sweet slips 2-4 on the latest Billboard 200 with 85,000 equivalent album units earned (down 8%).

GloRilla grabs her highest charting album, and first top 10, as Glorious bows at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 with 69,000 equivalent album units earned – the rapper’s best week yet. Of its first-week sum, SEA units comprise 56,000 (equaling 77.98 million on-demand official streams of the set’s songs), album sales comprise 12,000 and TEA units comprise 1,000. The album was available in both a standard and bonus track digital download edition, as well as a signed CD edition.

Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess falls 3-6 on the Billboard 200 (55,000 equivalent album units; down 2%) and Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft descends 5-7 (50,000; up less than 1%).

Rapper BigXthaPlug visits the top 10 for the first time – and the entire top 40 – as his new album Take Care enters at No. 8 with 48,000 equivalent album units earned, marking their biggest week ever. The artist previously notched two chart entries, reaching No. 97 with Amar and No. 111 with The Biggest (both earlier in 2024). Of the album’s first-week units, SEA units comprise 46,500 (equaling 62.77 million on-demand official streams of the set’s songs), album sales comprise 1,500 and TEA units comprise a negligible sum.

Rounding out the top 10 of the new Billboard 200 are Morgan Wallen’s chart-topping One Thing at a Time (4-9 with 48,000 equivalent album units; down 5%) and Taylor Swift’s former leader The Tortured Poets Department (6-10 with 44,000; down 1%).

In a groundbreaking collaboration, global music phenom Bad Bunny and soccer legend Lionel Messi join forces to introduce a pioneering Adidas shoe line that epitomizes the golden juncture of sport and music: the Bad Bunny x Messi collection, scheduled to launch on Saturday (Oct. 26).

Bad Bunny — whose dynamism has vaulted him from top-tier festivals to the upper echelons of global music icons — shared how their initial meeting was imbued with mutual insight and enthusiasm for this collection. “That first encounter with Messi was incredible. From the moment we got together, the vibe was good,” revealed the Puerto Rican superstar in an exclusive interview with Billboard Español. “We talked about our visions and what we wanted to achieve with the collection. Both of us are passionate about what we do, and that shows in every idea we shared. It was a smooth and natural process, and I will never forget it.”

The collection reimagines Adidas heritage through two iconic silhouettes: the Adidas Gazelle and the Adidas F50 cleat, each embodying the essence of its muse. The creative infusion is very personal, with references to their roots and triumphs. “I think we brought both my style and Messi’s into it, primarily basing it on the naturalness with which each of us approaches what we do. We were inspired by a 1949 Adidas shoe that featured the natural brown colors of leather,” noted Bad Bunny.

Lionel Messi, meanwhile, spoke to Billboard Español about the role music plays in his life. “Music is connected to many aspects of life. Not only to soccer, although it is true that there is a special connection between both worlds, but also to moments of leisure, to workouts in the gym, to trips while driving,” he said. “Music is something I like very much and is present in several moments of my daily life,” he added, also mentioning that Bad Bunny is an artist that is “never missing” in his playlists.

Building on the theme of collaboration, Bad Bunny recalled a standout moment during the creative process: “A memorable moment for me was when we started to shape the vision for this collaboration. Working with someone as iconic as Messi and seeing how we each brought ideas and concepts to the table was truly unique.”

This venture’s momentum is fueled by the unwavering support of their global following via Adidas’ La Voz de los Fans campaign. “The fans’ influence has been fundamental in our careers, and this collaboration would not have happened without their passion,” Benito highlighted. “They inspire us to keep evolving and experimenting on every project. This campaign is a reflection of that connection, because without the fans, none of this would be possible.”

On the impact of his worldwide following, Lionel Messi also conveyed a sense of honor coupled with duty. “I am aware that there are a lot of people who follow me and a lot of kids too. For me it is a pride and a great responsibility,” said the Argentine global champion. “I always tried to be myself, but bearing in mind that there are people who notice me, who follow me and support me every day.”

The collection, showcasing designs like the ‘X’ stripe heel and blue accents linking to Adidas’ heritage, transcends traditional sportswear to embody shared greatness and artistic synergy. Each piece is an homage, a collective memory crafted for the pitch and the playlists.

Both megastars see this collection as a symbol for future generations, exemplifying the merger of their realms and standing as a testament to collaborative greatness. “With Bad Bunny x Messi we hope to create a legacy that reflects this unique collaboration, inspiring new generations to follow their passions and work hard to achieve their dreams. We want this collaboration to become a symbol of unity for our Latino community and for the future,” said Bad Bunny.

As Messi and Bad Bunny continue to redefine paradigms in their fields, this collaboration is not just a testament to their stardom but a celebration of the crossroads of culture, music and sports.

The Bad Bunny x Messi collection is set to drop both online and in select flagship stores. For more info, visit adidas.com/badbunny and adidas.com/lionel_messi.

Good “Karma” begets more good karma. Just hours after Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs extended their perfect run so far this season to 6-0 following a 28-18 win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 20) — leaving them the only undefeated team in the NFL — Taylor Swift paid slyly tribute to her perfect boyfriend again.

“Karma is the guy on the Chiefs,” Swift sang as the fans in Hard Rock Stadium in Miami shouted with joy at the latest tip of the helmet to the singer’s pigskin paramour during a performance of the Midnights single “Karma.”The nod came during the third and final night in Miami, where Swift kicked off the final U.S. leg of her Eras Tour on Friday.

To date, Swift has made the lyrical change more than a dozen times (from “karma is the guy on the screen coming straight home to me”), dating back to nearly a year ago in Buenos Aires, Argentina, when Swift first made the switch at a Nov. 2023 show at Estadio River Plate that Kelce flew down for.

After a two-month hiatus, Swift kicked off the final round of her Eras Tour U.S. dates on Friday with the first of three sold-out shows in Miami. Undeterred by some showers, Swift debuted a quartet of new outfits at the kick-off show, busted out a pair of mash-ups for her surprise song segment and invited out Florence Welch for a run through their The Tortured Poets Department collab “Florida!!!”

The Eras Tour marches on this week with a trio of shows at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, LA with support from Gracie Abrams.

Lady Gaga has the cure for your “Disease.” The Joker: Folie à Deux star appeared to signal the kick-off of her next era over the weekend when several teasers suggested that the first single from Gaga’s upcoming as-yet-untitled seventh studio album is just around the corner. Though Gaga had not officially announced any details about the song on her socials at press time, there were a handful of Easter eggs that hatched with clues about the singer’s follow-up to her surprise Joker-inspired Harlequin jazz album.

The first was a pre-save option from her parent label Universal that led to options to grab the song on Spotify or Apple music when it’s released on Friday (Oct. 25). The page features the title of the song displayed backwards.

In addition, eagle-eyed fans noticed that a new 11-song playlist posted on Gaga’s Spotify page last week featured an acrostic clue, with the first four songs (“Government Hooker,” “Always Remember Us This Way,” “G.U.Y.” and “Americano”) spelling out GAGA and the next seven spelling out “disease” in lower case letters.

Little Monsters can also click over to gagadisease.com, where they can find the words “I could play the doctor” flashing on a black background, as well as icouldplaythedoctor.com, which features a similar flashing message reading “I can cure your disease.” If you continue down the rabbit hole and type each new phrase in as the url, you’ll find additional lyrics, including: “If you were a sinner/ I could make you believe/ Lay you down like 1, 2, 3/ Eyes roll back in ecstasy/ I can smell your sickness/ I can cure ya/ Cure your disease.” The final image takes you back to the Universal pre-save page.

Gaga has already confirmed that her upcoming pop album is due out in February and that the first single will be released this month. For now, the Harlequin album netted Gaga her third No. 1 on the Billboard jazz charts, while her Bruno Mars collab, “Die With a Smile,” just scored its seventh week atop the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts.

Legendary Dominican trio Proyecto Uno closed the Billboard Latin Music Awards with a flourish, reaffirming their status as merengue-house pioneers with a performance of their iconic 1993 hit, “El Tiburón.” The performance was not only a nod to the group’s origins, but also a celebration of their influence on Latin dance music over the past three decades.

With their signature party style, the trio, currently comprised of Nelson Zapata, Kid G, and Paolo Tondo, took over the stage wearing bright jackets in shades of red, blue, and yellow, while an entourage of colorful dancers accompanied them as they chanted their iconic “No pares, sigue, sigue” (“Don’t stop, keep going, keep going.”)

This year, Proyecto Uno celebrates 35 years of musical career in which they have given away hits such as “Brinca”, “Latinos” and “Otro Nivel”, fusing tropical genres with hip-hop, house and techno, creating a hybrid sound that has left an indelible mark on Latin music.

After a 55-year career, the sun will finally set on Mr Blue Sky next year. ELO, led by Jeff Lynne, have announced their date and location of their final live show.

The gig will take place in London’s Hyde Park next year as part of BST Summertime festival on July 13, 2025. They are the first act to be announced for the annual run of gigs in the central London location. 2024 headliners included SZA, Morgan Wallen, Stevie Nicks and more.

“My return to touring began at Hyde Park in 2014,” band leader Jeff Lynne said in a statement. “It seems like the perfect place to do our final show. We couldn’t be more excited to share this special night in London with our UK fans. As the song goes, ‘we’re gonna do it One More Time!’”

Tickets for the show go on sale on October 25 at 10am. A range of special guests are set to join the lineup, which will be announced in due course.

The band are currently in the midst of their Over and Out US tour, which will conclude with a pair of shows at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum on October 25 and 25.

The Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) formed in 1970 in Birmingham, England and became a stalwart of the British rock scene throughout the following decades. Initially composed of Lynne, songwriter Roy Wood and drummer Bev Bevan, the group released their eponymous debut album in 1971 and went on to release 14 studio albums, most recently in 2019 with From Out of Nowhere.

In the late ‘70s and early 1980s, the band amassed six Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking with “Don’t Bring Me Down” in 1979 at No.4. They had similar success on the Billboard 200 with five Top 10 entries on the Billboard 200. Several of their albums, including 1977’s Out Of The Blue, were awarded platinum status in the US by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America).

Speaking on the announcement Jim King, CEO of European Festivals at AEG Presents says, “Jeff Lynne’s ELO are loved the world over. The live shows are nothing short of extraordinary and a testament to the incredible catalog of hits we’ve enjoyed for over 50 years. Hosting their final performance at BST Hyde Park is a true honor, especially 30 years after their first festival show in the same park. We’re excited to be part of this special moment in music history.”

At Travis Scott’s Circus Maximus show in Sydney, Australia, on Oct. 18, fans were treated to a massive surprise when The Weeknd joined him on stage for four of their collaborative songs.

Scott had teased the surprise during his first Sydney show on Oct. 17, telling the crowd, “I’m gonna see my friend tomorrow morning and see if he can get on the stage. I was trying to get him today.”

He then performed “CIRCUS MAXIMUS,” a track featuring The Weeknd, fueling the excitement for night two.

Both artists also dropped cryptic videos from Sydney’s iconic Luna Park before the performance. The park’s enormous, illuminated face at its entrance bears an uncanny resemblance to the imagery from Scott’s ASTROWORLD—a carnival vibe that’s been a major part of his branding. Fans quickly caught on, adding to the buzz that something big was brewing.

True to his word, The Weeknd made his appearance on stage the following night (Oct. 18), performing alongside the rapper for an assortment of their numerous collaborations together, including, “CIRCUS MAXIMUS,” “Pray 4 Love,” “SKELETONS,” and “WAKE UP.”

The pair’s long-standing collaboration and chemistry were evident as they lit up the stage, much to the crowd’s delight. Scott introduced The Weeknd to the audience as “the greatest of all time.”

“This man right here gave me my first arena tour ever,” Scott told the audience of the Weeknd. “If it wasn’t for him, I probably wouldn’t be on this stage right now.”

Scott’s Circus Maximus Australian and New Zealand tour continues through Oct. 31, with a final show in Auckland, New Zealand. After wrapping up his tour Down Under, Scott and his Cactus Jack crew are set to take over Complexcon in Las Vegas on Nov. 17.

The rapper’s Circus Maximus tour continues to break records, following the global success of Utopia, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard 200 chart, earning 496,000 album-equivalent units (including 252,000 in pure album sales) in its first week.

Meanwhile, The Weeknd is in Australia for his After Hours Til Dawn tour, with upcoming shows at Sydney’s Accor Stadium on Oct. 22 and 23. This marks his first return to Australia since 2017, with fans eagerly awaiting his next album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, which has already teased singles like “Dancing in the Flames” and “Timeless.”

“I feel a strong pull to perform in Australia before moving on to the next chapter and want to make sure you all know I hadn’t forgotten about you,” The Weeknd said in a statement announcing his new Australian tour dates back in August. “When I return now, it will be the right time, and I promise it will be such a special experience. I can’t wait to see you all!”

Mike Dean, Chxrry22 and Sydney’s own Anna Lunoe are currently supporting The Weeknd on the four Australia dates.

Toni Cornell, daughter of late Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell, has publicly condemned TMZ for their coverage of One Direction star Liam Payne’s tragic death.

Payne, just 31, passed away after falling from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Oct. 16. The Argentinian prosecutor’s office later confirmed that his death was caused by multiple traumas and internal and external bleeding.

In a scathing statement shared on her Instagram, Toni called out the website’s widely criticized decision to publish graphic photos of Payne’s hotel room and body following his passing.

In her heartfelt post, Toni Cornell reflected on her own traumatic experience after losing her father in 2017. She noted how TMZ had also published graphic images of her father’s death, which deeply affected her as a 12-year-old.

“Having seen those photos, I can’t help but reflect on my own experience when graphic images of my father’s death were also published by TMZ,” she wrote.

“As a 12-year-old, I stumbled upon those pictures while scrolling through my iPad, and it was indescribably traumatising, and something I still carry with me to this day. TMZ still has not chosen to have the decency, seven years later, to remove those photos from the internet, and it is something I believe should be done.”

Though TMZ eventually removed the images of Payne after backlash, Toni stressed that their actions came far too late.

“While the images of Liam have since been taken down, it means nothing. They should never have been put up in the first place,” she continued. “It breaks my heart to think that his 7-year-old son, Bear, might one day come across them and suffer exactly as I did.”

Cornell, 52, died in May 2017. He was found dead in his Detroit hotel room following a Soundgarden show at the Fox Theatre earlier that night.

Toni isn’t the only one to call out the shocking move. Cheryl Cole, Liam Payne’s former partner and the mother of his son Bear, also slammed media coverage of his death as “abhorrent”.

Cole posted a message to Instagram Friday (Oct. 18) to “kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being.”

“Liam was not only a pop star and celebrity, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend and a father to our 7 year old son,” she wrote, sharing a black-and-white photo of Payne cuddling with a newborn Bear in bed. “A son that now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again.”

“What is troubling my spirit the most is that one day Bear will have access to the abhorrent reports and media exploitation we have seen in the past two days,” the singer continued. “It is breaking my heart further that I cannot protect him from that in his future.”

Cole concluded, “Please give Liam the little dignity he has left in the wake of his death to rest in some peace at last.”

Cole and Payne dated for about two years before separating in 2018. In March 2017, they welcomed Bear.

The four surviving members of One Direction also issued a joint statement saying they were “completely devastated” by the death of their bandmate.

Show-stopping performances by Prince Royce and Gabito Ballesteros, who took the stage to sing “Cosas de la Peda” – which won tropical song of the year – and Gloria Trevi and Maria Becerra – who joined forces for “Borracha” – made the 2024 Billboard Latin Music Awards one for the books.

Special awards honorees, Pepe Aguilar, J Balvin and Alejandro Sanz, each gave emotional speeches as they accepted their respective honors. Aguilar was inducted into the Billboard Hall of Fame, and said: “The way to remain relevant has been through my passion for my music and by reinventing when it was necessary. And that’s been possible thanks to the people who’ve been by my side. An artist is as good as the team that surrounds him.”

Meanwhile, Balvin who was bestowed the Spirit of Hope Award spoke on the significance of this recognition. “I’ve always liked to help my people quietly, because those are the awards that one carries forever,” he expressed. “These awards come and go, but the awards of the soul, helping a friend, serving others, those are the ones that are most worthwhile.” Sanz didn’t perform but did take the stage to share special words with fans and fellow hitmakers when accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award. “I want to dedicate to my colleagues who do music, because there was a time when making music in Spanish wasn’t easy. Feel proud for what has been achieved.”

Besides the big winners of the night, it was Lupillo Rivera that perhaps made a massive statement with his outfit choice. The regional Mexican artist wore a t-shirt with Diddy’s face and a big, red X over it. It’s a shirt he designed himself in hopes of getting a very specific message across.

“I wore this shirt because I don’t like people playing with the dreams, feelings, and desires of people who are just starting out in the entertainment world,” Rivera told Billboard Español. “There are a lot of things like that in this world and we have to put a stop to it. I don’t support anything this man does at all, and the truth is that it’s something that shouldn’t happen.”

The ceremony may be a wrap but we’re reliving some of the highlights from the show, which broadcast Sunday (Oct. 20) on Telemundo, and hosted by actors Carmen Villalobos and Danilo Carrera,
