Cris MJ’s latest single, “Si No Es Contigo,” has topped this week’s new music Latin poll.

In a poll published on Friday (May 24) — in support of the weekly New Music Latin roundup and playlist, curated by Billboard Latin and Billboard Español editors — music fans voted for the Chilean artist’s newest production as their favorite music release of the week.

“Si No Es Contigo,” which translates to “if it’s not with you,” shockingly garnered almost all of this week’s votes (95%), beating out new releases that dropped this week including Camilo’s new album, Cuatro, Trueno’s hip-hop set El Último Baile, Nathy Peluso’s Grasa album and The GB album by Gabito Ballesteros.

Trueno’s third studio album, which thoroughly showcases the generational and cultural impact of hip-hop music, came in second place.

“Si No Es Contigo” is Cris MJ’s latest release on the heels of his smash hits “Una Noche en Medellín” and, most recently, the FloyyMenor-assisted “Gata Only,” which reached No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot Latin Songs chart.

The reggaetón song, fused with some Middle Eastern rhythms, finds the Chilean act tapping into his romantic side. “If it’s not with you, love/ I don’t want anyone else/ Only you have what I love/ Baby, let’s take advantage/ Baby, let’s get married,” he chants, while complimenting how beautiful the girl looks in everything she wears.

Last week, music fans voted for Bacilos’ new album Pequeños Romances as their favorite music release. The set brought in 47% of the vote, followed by a very close second favorite with Luis Fonsi’s travel-inspired album, El Viaje, with more than 46%.

“Women together — that’s something we wanted to honor when we made this award,” Cannes jury president and Barbie director Greta Gerwig said of the shared win, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “Each of them is a standout, but together transcendent.”

In a groundbreaking moment for the trans community, Emilia Pérez star Gascón, who accepted the ensemble cast’s award with a tearful speech, is the first transgender actress to win at Cannes. The Spanish-language musical/crime pic about a Mexican drug lord (Gascón) embracing her true identity as a woman also received the jury prize at this year’s festival.

Gomez was in Cannes for the film’s premiere, press and photo calls earlier in the week, but not in attendance at Saturday’s gala. She portrays the wife of Gascón’s character in the film.

The singer-actress got the news of the win through a phone call from co-star Saldaña. “When @zoesaldana told me we all won best actress!!” Gomez captioned an Instagram Story reaction video, in which she’s seen sitting outdoors, and in which her excitement is palpable.

The Palme d’Or, the festivals’s top honor, was given to Sean Baker’s Anora. The Grand Prix went to Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine As Light. Mohammad Rasoulof’s The Seed of the Sacred Fig received a special award from the jury, and Jesse Plemmons won best actor for his work in Yorgos Lanthimos‘ Kinds of Kindness.

George Lucas was presented with an honorary Palme d’Or on Saturday, for his contribution to cinema since 1971, when his directorial debut, THX-1138, received a nod in the Directors’ Fortnight section at Cannes.

Fallen Idols, a four-part documentary exploring the “lives and controversies” of Nick and Aaron Carter, premieres on Investigation Discovery on Monday (May 27).

The docuseries delves into the Carter’s music careers, relationships and the “tragedies and headline-making events of the past few years” including sexual assault allegations against Nick brought on by three women: Ashley Repp, Shannon “Shay” Ruth and Melissa Schuman of the girl group Dream.

Repp, Ruth and Schuman appear in the documentary, which also chronicles the “intense backlash” they endured from speaking out and how their lives have been impacted.

Schuman first went public with rape allegations in 2017. She accuses Nick of raping her in 2003 and filed a lawsuit against him in 2023. Repp, who accuses Nick of sexually assaulting her in 2001, sued him for sexual battery in 2022. Ruth sued in 2022 accusing Nick of raping her when she was 15 years old.

The Backstreet Boys singer has denied sexual assault allegations and countersued Schuman and Ruth in 2023. According to The Wrap, Nick’s attorney’s posted documents in response to interviews featured in the docuseries via the website, FallenIdolsDocumentary.com.

The trailer features social media clips of Aaron backing his brother’s accusers, which resulted in a public feud between the brothers leading up to the 34-year-old singer’s death in 2022.

In addition to the three women, Fall Idols features interviews with an unnamed Carter family member, Nick’s ex-girlfriend Kaya Jones and Melanie Martin, Aaron’s former fiancé.
