Drake‘s next album has a release date. The rapper took to Instagram late Wednesday (Sept. 6) to reveal that For All the Dogs will arrive on Sept. 22.

“FOR ALL THE DOGS SEPTEMBER 22,” Drake captioned an Instagram reel featuring an archival video of his dad, Dennis Graham, going by the moniker “Cousin Dennis” and singing with a blues band on the local Toronto TV show Stormy Monday With Danny Marks in the early ’90s. “I’m Dennis Graham from Memphis, Tennessee,” Graham says to introduce himself ahead of the performance, which includes an epic harmonica solo.

Drake first teased the album and its title back in June, taking out a full-page advertisement in major outlets like the New York Post, Los Angeles Times and Houston Chronicle to promote his July poetry collection Titles Ruin Everything: A Stream of Consciousness, by Aubrey Drake Graham and Kenza Samir. The ad contained a QR code leading to the website titlesruineverything.com.

“I made an album to go with the book,” Drake wrote on the site at the time. “They say they miss the old Drake girl don’t tempt me. FOR ALL THE DOGS.”

This will be Drake’s eighth studio album and his first solo project since the dance-leaning Honestly, Nevermind in June 2022. He also released the joint album Her Loss with 21 Savage in November 2022. Both albums debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Prior to Drake’s announcement, Doja Cat had revealed that her next album, Scarlet, is also set for Sept. 22.

Drake is currently on his co-headlining It’s All a Blur Tour with 21 Savage.

Sam Smith and Normani have prevailed in a copyright lawsuit against their 2019 hit “Dancing With a Stranger” a California judge agreed to dismiss the case Wednesday (Sept. 6).

Released in 2019 off Smith’s third studio album Love Goes, “Dancing with a Stranger” is one of their top-charting hits, peaking at No. 7 on the Hot 100 chart. The lawsuit was brought by songwriters Jordan Vincent, Christopher Miranda and Rosco Banlaoi in March, alleging that Smith and Normani (real name Normani Kordei Hamilton) copied the trio’s little-known 2015 song of the same name.

Smith, Normani and songwriters Mikkel S. Eriksen and Tor E. Hermansen of Stargate, and Jimmy Napier, as well as their publishing companies, were represented by Davis Wright Tremaine’s Peter Anderson, Sean M. Sullivan and Eric H. Lamm. In July, the attorneys filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit, attacking the lawsuit’s core accusations and arguing that many of the alleged similarities between the two songs — such as the “shape of the melody” — were just common musical tropes or abstract ideas that are not protectable under copyright law.

In Judge Wesley L. Hsu‘s ruling on Wednesday, he wrote that the melodic phrases in question — sections in the hooks where both songs contain the lyrics “dancing with a stranger” — “are not substantially similar.”

In coming to his ruling, the judge reviewed the plaintiffs’ claims that “lyrics, pitch sequence, melodic contour, metric placement of the syllables, rhythm, feel, and structure” all represent musical elements that the defendants appropriated — but found that “most if not all of the 28 Plaintiff’s claimed similarities” are not protectable under law. Those that are protectable, Hsu ruled, Smith and Normani’s Dancing With a Stranger” did not unlawfully appropriate.

The plaintiffs’ attorney, AJ Fluehr of Francis Alexander, did not respond to a request for comment at time of publishing.

Bruce Springsteen announced Wednesday (Sept. 6) that he’s postponing all his September concerts as he’s treated for symptoms of peptic ulcer disease.

“Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band have postponed all performances currently scheduled for September 2023, beginning with tomorrow’s show scheduled for the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, NY,” a statement on the band’s social media reads. “Mr. Springsteen is being treated for symptoms of peptic ulcer disease and the decision of his medical advisors is that he should postpone the remainder of his September shows.”

Some of the symptoms of peptic ulcer disease include pain or discomfort in the upper part of your abdomen, feeling uncomfortably full after eating a meal, nausea and vomiting.

The Instagram post also included this quote from Springsteen: “Over here on E Street, we’re heartbroken to have to postpone these shows. First, apologies to our fabulous Philly fans who we missed a few weeks ago. We’ll be back to pick these shows up and then some. Thank you for your understanding and support. We’ve been having a blast at our US shows and we’re looking forward to more great times. We’ll be back soon. Love and God bless all, Bruce.”

Springsteen and The E Street Band had nine dates scheduled this month, starting with Thursday’s show in Syracuse, New York, and wrapping Sept. 29 at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.

As Springsteen alluded to in his quote, two of the dates are rescheduled Philadelphia shows that were set for last month until the rocker fell ill and moved them to September. “Due to Bruce Springsteen having been taken ill, his concerts with The E Street Band at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on August 16 and 18 have been postponed,” a statement at the time read.
