As soon as the curtain fell in 2018 on her 120-show $100-million-grossing “Jennifer Lopez: All I Have” residency at Planet Hollywood, the speculation began on when — not if — JLO would return to Las Vegas.

After seven years, she announced plans for the new Up All Night Live while hosting the American Music Awards in May 2025. On Dec. 30, after months of rehearsal and teasers on her social media, the fervor came to fruition, as Lopez transported the sold-out audience of more than 4,000 at The Colosseum at Caesars from fantasy to reality and back again in a feverish haze of gyrating bodies and miles of sequins.

Always known for making a major entrance, Lopez kicked off the 120-minute pop, R&B and Latin music and dance odyssey with a spectacular Broadway-themed opener that included “Let Me Entertain You” from the musical Gypsy; 1999’s “Waiting for Tonight,” collabed with West Side Story’s Mambo and an ultra-jazzy “Jenny From the Block,” and finishing off with 2007’s “Do It Well.”

This set the tone for a night where Lopez framed her best moments not as a greatest-hits revue but as a living timeline of “JLO the artist” chronicled through music, choreography and costuming. In a toast to their early aughts reign as the terry-cloth sweatsuit king and queen, Ja Rule joined Lopez on stage for their hits “Ain’t It Funny” and “I’m Real.”

The most significant difference from her last Vegas show? Lopez’s participation in Up All Night Live as narrator, speaking candidly about reinvention, resilience and the discipline it has taken to get her here and back again. Those reflections gave emotional ballast to the high-gloss production designed for spectacle on Las Vegas’ most storied stage, which Adele, Cher, Mariah Carey and Celine Dion have graced.

Here’s a look at Lopez’s full opening-night setlist for Up All Night Live at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

As 2025 comes to a close, Addison Rae can update her resume to read pop artist, film star, TikTok heavyweight and now festival headliner.

On Monday night, Dec. 29, the alternative pop artist added a new chapter to her career when she headlined Australia’s Beyond The Valley, marking her first-ever festival appearance.

“Wow, you all like to party out here in Australia. I am very impressed,” she told onlookers mid-set, the final spot of the night at the Valley Stage. “This is my first time performing at a festival and this is quite the welcome. So thank you so much.”

On the night, the Louisiana-born, New York City born-and-raised singer performed “Aquamarine,” “High Fashion,” “Headphones On,” “Fame Is a Gun” and, of course, “Diet Pepsi,” her first Billboard Hot 100 hit.

Rae chose a fine moment to enter festival-land. Presented at Barunah Plains, an historic sheep station in west Victoria, BTV this year celebrates its 10th edition. EDM superstar Dom Dolla is on New Year’s Eve countdown duties.

Last month, Rae completed the Australian lap of The Addison Tour, a headline trek in support of her debut LP Addison, which opened at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and No. 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart.

In an August Billboard cover story, Rae told senior writer Kristin Robinson about embracing new adventures, from music to acting. “I really just never give up and never quit, no matter what,” she said. “Really, what it comes back to is that I’m fearless — I’m not afraid of much. It doesn’t really take me much to try something new and go all in, and here, I went all in.”

Rae is staying in the Australian sun for a little while longer. She’s booked to perform at Wildlands festival in Brisbane on Thursday, Jan. 1, and heads west for the Perth show on Jan. 3. Her 2026 tour dates include Lollapalooza Chile, Argentina and Brazil, Coachella, and Spain’s Primavera Sound.

LONDON — The United Kingdom’s recorded music market reported an 11th consecutive year of growth following success for local artists domestically and on the global stage.

In a report shared by the BPI (British Phonographic Institute), artists such as Olivia Dean, Lola Young, Sam Fender, Central Cee and more are credited as being crucial players in the market’s bumper 2025. Massive tours for Oasis, Coldplay and Ed Sheeran also saw sales for their back catalog soar as a result.

The newly-released figures show that music consumption across sales and streams increased by 4.9% annually over the past 12 months to reach a new high of 210.3 million albums (or their streamed equivalent) consumed, with 210.3 billion streams accumulated across the year. Streaming figures rose 5.5% year-on-year to make up 89.3% of consumption (2024 saw 88.8%), and sales of vinyl LPs increased for an 18th year in a row.

In the Official Charts Company’s end of year lists for 2025, U.K. artists feature prominently throughout. The Official Albums Chart’s best-selling album of 2025 was Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl, and releases from British artists Ed Sheeran, Oasis, Sam Fender and Olivia Dean also appear in the top 10.

On the Official Singles Chart, Lola Young’s “Messy” finishes as the second-biggest song of the year, and Olivia Dean’s “Man I Need” ends the year at No. 9. Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” – which ruled the Official Singles Chart for 13 weeks – takes the top spot of the year-end chart.

The vinyl revival continued in 2025 with the market growing 13.3% year-on-year to 7.6 million, compared to 9.1% annual growth in 2024. Six of the ten biggest-selling vinyl titles of the year were released in the last two years, led by Swift’s The Life Of A Showgirl, which shifted over 147,000 units, the most vinyl LPs sold of a release in a calendar year since the Official Charts Company launched in 1994.

Physical releases as a whole – across vinyl LPs, CDs, cassettes and more – saw a 1.4% rise year-on-year, the second consecutive year of growth after 19 years of decline. Sales from physical formats played a crucial role in landing a No. 1 on the Official Albums Chart, with 34 of the 43 overall chart-topping LPs doing so with a majority of physical sales in their opening week. Playboi Carti’s Music was the only album to hit the top spot with no physical formats available.

Twenty-seven albums by U.K. artists topped the Official Albums Chart in 2025 with a number of acts doing so more than once. Recent Billboard U.K. cover star Yungblud scored two chart-toppers with Idols and One More Time, a collaborative EP with Aerosmith, as did Ed Sheeran with – +-=÷x (Tour Collection) and Play, and Elton John with greatest hits collection Diamonds and Brandi Carlile collaboration Who Believes in Angels?

U.K. artists also performed strongly in the nominations for the 2026 Grammys. Olivia Dean and Lola Young appear in the best new artist category, and contemporary acts such as Wet Leg, FKA twigs, FLO, Fred again.., PinkPantheress, Skepta, Sleep Token, Yungblud will compete in their respective genre fields.

Commenting on a positive year for British music and its breakthrough artists, the BPI’s CEO Dr. Jo Twist, BPI CEO, said, “2025 saw UK talent break through domestically and globally, an impressive feat given more acts than ever are vying for audience attention. From Olivia Dean and Lola Young to Sleep Token and Sam Fender, new British talent are now chart-topping sensations at home and are making their presence felt in key markets around the world, while the likes of Ed Sheeran continue to reinforce their icon status. This is testament to the diverse, exceptional talent that exists throughout the UK, and to the vital role labels play in supporting artists to long-term success.”

Twist continued, “This impact should be a powerful reminder that British music is a global headline act, and one of the crown jewels of the UK’s creative industries. Ensuring its success should be high on the Government’s agenda in 2026. We need the commitment of policy makers, the continued protection of the UK’s gold-standard copyright framework, and a business environment which supports direct licensing between music and tech companies in order for labels to continue to discover, nurture and promote the global stars of tomorrow.”

Billboard VIP Pass

This may have been the biggest year ever for Christmas music, at least going by the charts. Holiday songs took the top 24 positions on the Billboard Hot 100 for the chart week dated Jan. 3, compared to a previous-record top 16 last year. Seasonal hits also accounted for 46 of the chart’s top 50, the top 13 spots on the Billboard Global 200 and a record seven albums in the top 10 of the Billboard 200. Santa got some help from the fact that the charts’ tracking week in question ended on Christmas Day, but the boom is very real.

Who’s getting the big gifts, though? Compared to other genres, a relatively small number of recordings, and an even smaller number of songs, account for a great deal of holiday music streaming, which seems to be fueled more by playlists, according to several music executives. The popularity of hits by artists that don’t have a ton of name recognition suggests the importance of DSP-curated playlists. “Jingle Bell Rock,” No. 3 on the Hot 100 for the week, is a Christmas classic, but it’s hard to imagine that many Americans know Bobby Helms sings it — let alone consider themselves serious fans.

Related

Nostalgia matters, too. In 2019, Billboard took an in-depth look at Christmas music toward the beginning of its streaming-fueled boom and found that that the most popular versions of Christmas songs are the iconic ones that listeners remember; dozens of artists have covered “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” but Gene Autry’s 1949 version is the most popular. Is it old-fashioned compared to some other versions? That seems to be part of its appeal.

That makes the holiday chart relatively stable compared to some others. In 2018, the top five holiday tracks, in order, were Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” Helms’ “Jingle Bell Rock,” Andy Williams’ “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” and Burl Ives’ “Have a Holly Jolly Christmas.” Seven years later, the top of the Hot 100 chart dated Jan. 3 didn’t look all that different: Carey’s hit came in at No. 1, followed by “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” and “Jingle Bell Rock,” then Wham!’s “Last Christmas” (No. 8 in 2018) and Ariana Grande’s “Santa Tell Me.” The other songs didn’t fall far: Williams’ hit was No. 9 and Ives’ was No. 12.

Big Christmas songs are evergreens — pun intended — that bring in money every year. In Carey’s case, her holiday hit redefined her career — it didn’t hit No. 1 on the Hot 100 until December 2019, but it has been No. 1 for a record 22 weeks since then. (I think it will be the most popular song of the 21st century.) That makes the competition for new hits intense. So far, though, the holiday charts are dominated by songs written before Carey released “All I Want for Christmas” in 1994. “Santa Tell Me,” which came out in 2014 and has peaked at higher chart positions over the past few years, is one obvious exception; another is Kelly Clarkson’s 2013 “Underneath the Tree,” which was No. 8 on the Jan. 3 chart. Michael Bublé’s 2011 Christmas album accounts for two songs in the top 50: “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” at No. 13 (just ahead of Perry Como’s iconic version at No. 18) and “Holly Jolly Christmas” at No. 33 (behind Ives’ version at No. 12). Other exceptions toward the top of the chart include Jonas Brothers’ “Like It’s Christmas” at No. 27, Justin Bieber’s “Mistletoe” at No. 29 and the Clarkson and Grande duet “Santa, Can’t You Hear Me” at No. 31. In a few years, these songs could be considered classics.

Related

The most prominent Christmas artist is Bing Crosby, who has three songs in the top 50: The 1947 version of “White Christmas” at No. 16, “Mele Kalikimaka (Merry Christmas)” at No. 49 and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” at No. 50. (His estate made a partnership agreement with Primary Wave in 2021.) Other estates with holiday hits include those of Nat “King” Cole, who has “The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to You)” at No. 6 and “Deck the Halls” at No. 20; Dean Martin (“Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow” at No. 7 and “Baby it’s Cold Outside” at No. 35); Andy Williams (“The Most Wonderful Time” and “Happy Holiday / The Holiday Season” at No. 42); Gene Autry (“Here Comes Santa Claus [Right Down Santa Claus Lane]” at No. 22 and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” at No. 30); the Vince Guaraldi Trio (two “Peanuts” themes at No. 23 and No. 47) and The Jackson 5 (“Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town” at No. 43 and “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” at No. 4). Active artists with multiple Hot 100 Christmas hits include Bublé; Grande and Clarkson, due to their duet; Darlene Love, with “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” at No. 14 and “Winter Wonderland” at No. 40; and Gwen Stefani, with “You Make It Feel Like Christmas” at No. 46 and “Shake the Snow Globe” at No. 55.

The success of artists with multiple hits is also reflected on the Billboard 200. Crosby’s Christmas collection comes in at No. 2 on the chart dated Jan. 3. The top 10 is rounded out by Bublé’s Christmas at No. 3, Cole’s The Christmas Song at No. 4, the Phil Spector Christmas album at No. 5, the Charlie Brown Christmas special soundtrack at No. 7, Carey’s Merry Christmas at No. 8 and a collection of Frank Sinatra’s holiday music at No. 9.

The Global 200 has a few interesting differences. The top five songs are the same as the Hot 100 and even fall in the same order except that “Last Christmas” is No. 1. The rest of the chart isn’t so different, although Sia’s “Snowman” comes in at No. 13, as opposed to No. 41 in the U.S., and it has some songs that didn’t make the Hot 100 in the U.S., most prominently “Merry Christmas Everyone” by Shakin’ Stevens at No. 25, the Band-Aid benefit song “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” at No. 30, “Driving Home for Christmas” by Chris Rea at No. 33 and “Step into Christmas” by Elton John at No. 35. Surprisingly, at a time when more global hits are in other languages, nearly all of the Christmas songs on the Global 200 are in English. At a time when it’s harder than ever to have a hit that appeals to a wide range of listeners, holiday music seems to be one of the few things that unites different audiences.

They say that everything old is new again in fashion, and that doesn’t just apply to clothing.

While we’ve seen a resurgence of Y2K style thanks to singers like Addison Rae and Charli XCX, bath and beauty products from the 90s are also making a comeback, with new and old fans alike discovering nostalgic favorites. Case in point: Bath & Body Works’ iconic “Cucumber Melon” fragrance, which is back for a limited time exclusively at BathandBodyWorks.com.

Originally released in the 90s, Cucumber Melon products were a mainstay at Bath & Body Works stores at malls across North America, with families stocking up on the approachable yet memorable scent. Even now, I can still remember the fresh and sweet smell of cucumber, cantaloupe and honeydew that formed the base of the fragrance, along with notes of grapefruit and “sheer woods” (think pine trees and grass).

NSYNC star Lance Bass recently revealed that an old girlfriend got him into Bath & Body Works products when he was in the boyband in the 90s, and the brand came out with a similarly nostalgic Disney Villains collection last year, but it’s not just for millennials: Gen Z has fallen in love with these products too, judging by the viral reviews on social media and the 700,000+ TikTok posts about Bath & Body Works in the last few months alone.

What we like: the Cucumber Melon products are all dermatologist-tested and made without parabens or artificial dyes, according to the brand website. And none of the products are ever ever tested on animals.

Ready to stock up on this fan favorite collection? Well hot off its popular Candle Day event, Bath & Body Works has just launched its Semi-Annual Sale, with hundreds of products on sale for 50% off — Cucumber Melon scent included. A reminder: this collection is an online exclusive, which means you won’t find the products in stores. Here’s a look at what to pick up online.

Ye (formerly Kanye West) has accomplished many eccentric things outside of music, but the rapper says the bucket list attributed to him that’s currently going viral on social media is fake.

Chatter around the viral handwritten bucket list made it back to Yeezy this holiday season, so he took to X on Monday night (Dec. 29) with a rare tweet clarifying that it wasn’t actually created by him.

“That so called bucket list is fake It’s not my hand writing,” he wrote.

https://twitter.com/kanyewest/status/2005795356647604505

The bucket list in question is filled with random goals — 36 to be exact — like learning to pole dance, climbing a volcano, skydiving, swimming with sharks and visiting places like Russia, Cambodia, the Great Wall of China, Machu Picchu, Brazil, Iceland and Chile.

On the innovation and design side, there were ideas like creating his own shampoo and soap line, as well as writing a book.

“It’s ok about wanting to learn how to pole dance we won’t judge,” one fan quipped. “Nah but deada— we need the real Ye bucket list.”

Ye has been lying low while spending time with family this holiday season. TMZ reported that he spent part of the holidays reuniting with ex-wife Kim Kardashian as they co-parent their four children in the same space in Los Angeles. And another photo surfaced of Ye with his wife, Bianca Censori, and daughter North West, along with other alleged family members.

Ye also pulled up to Deon Cole’s comedy show over the weekend, where, after being invited on stage to chat with the comic, he confirmed he has a “new album” on the way. It’s unclear if that project is the much-delayed Bully or a completely separate LP.

ADOR has shared an update on the status of NewJeans‘ lineup amid the HYBE subsidiary’s ongoing legal issues with the girl group.

On Monday (Dec. 29), ADOR announced via a statement on X that Danielle — one of the K-pop quintet’s original members — will not be returning to NewJeans in light of the label’s court win earlier this year. “Having determined that it would be difficult for her to continue as a NewJeans member and ADOR artist, the company notified her today of the termination of her exclusive contract,” the Korean-language statement reads, according to the site’s English translation.

Related

“Additionally, the company intends to pursue legal accountability against one member of Danielle’s family and former [ADOR] CEO Min Hee-jin, who bear significant responsibility for causing this dispute and for the delays in NewJeans’ departure and return,” it continues.

The update comes more than a month after it was first announced that Haerin and Hyein had decided to continue working with ADOR following “thoughtful consideration with their respective families.” As for the other two members, ADOR added in its statement Monday that Hanni has now also agreed to continue with the group, while Minji is still in “ongoing conversations” about her future with the company.

“Hanni visited Korea with her family and held in-depth, extended conversations with ADOR,” the statement notes. “During this process, they reflected on past events and took time to objectively review the situation. At the conclusion of these sincere discussions, Hanni decided to stay with ADOR, respecting the court’s ruling.”

Billboard has reached out to ADOR for more information.

Tensions between ADOR and its star clients have been ongoing since 2024, when the members of NewJeans announced plans to sever ties with the company and release music independently. At the time, the five women alleged that ADOR had breached its contract with the group by firing former CEO Min, who’d been NewJeans’ mentor.

However, after a lengthy court battle, a judge sided with ADOR’s stance that Min’s termination was not sufficient grounds for the K-pop stars to void their seven-year exclusive contract with the company. “We sincerely hope that today’s judgment, which comes after long-term verification of various claims and facts and reaffirms prior rulings, will serve as an opportunity for the artists to calmly reflect on this matter,” ADOR said in a statement about the win in October.

At the time, ADOR also promised fans that it had finished preparations for another NewJeans studio album to drop following the resolution of the legal dispute — but according to the label’s latest statement, the main objective now is to “fully resolve” any lingering “misunderstandings” between the band’s members and the public, which ADOR warns could “take some time.”

“Through these conversations, ADOR came to understand that the members had been exposed to persistently distorted and biased information over a long period, leading to significant misunderstandings about the company and ultimately escalating into this dispute,” the message reads. “[The members] have agreed to address the various controversies that arose during the dispute at a later opportunity, and discussions on the timing and method are currently underway.”

NewJeans first debuted in 2022. The following year, the group found global fame with the success of the NewJeans 2nd EP ‘Get Up,’ which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

In 2025, amid the quintet’s spat with ADOR, it began independently releasing music and performing under the name “NJZ.” The members were swiftly ordered to stop doing so, however, after ADOR filed a preliminary injunction. This past June, they were each fined $734,000 for “unauthorized activities.”

Between high-profile collaborations, long-awaited retro returns, and thoughtful reinterpretations of classic silhouettes, 2025 has been an outstanding year for sneakers, as the culture felt both reflective and forward-moving. Some of the most legendary shoes in history made returns this year: the Air Jordan 1 High ’85 “Bred” came back in true OG form, the Undefeated x Air Jordan 4 finally reentered the conversation after only 72 pairs released back in 2005. Nike brought back one of its most iconic releases with the Air Foamposite One “Galaxy.” We also saw the return of the coveted “big bubble” on the Nike Air Max 95, as nostalgia reigned supreme in 2025.

The year also marked a refreshing change for sneaker enthusiasts, though. For once, many highly anticipated releases didn’t immediately sell out. In 2025, you didn’t have to wake up at 10 a.m. ET and sit in an online queue just to miss out. In many cases, you could log on an hour later and still secure a pair, a rare but welcome moment of accessibility in modern sneaker culture. Currently, you can even buy Jordan 1’s, Jordan 3’s, and Jordan 4’s below retail, whether from retail stores or resale platforms.

At the same time, new collaborations and sneaker models drove massive attention and sales. Following the continued success of the adidas AE1 over the past three years, basketball sneakers officially made their return as everyday lifestyle footwear. Bold designs and athletes becoming more culturally relevant than ever played a major role in that shift. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s Converse Shai 001 is a perfect example, and one of my personal favorite sneakers of 2025.

Sneakers and music have long shared a symbiotic relationship dating back to the earliest days of hip-hop and R&B. Artists have consistently used footwear as a canvas for self-expression, blending personal identity with cultural influence. In 2025, that connection reached a new level. Collaborations dominated many of the year’s best releases, with musicians taking a leading role in designing and promoting sneakers, further blurring the line between sound, style, and storytelling.

I couldn’t write this list without showing major love to Wale. While the DMV emcee still doesn’t have his own signature sneaker in 2025, his influence remains undeniable. Wale inspired and helped design a special-edition colorway of Nike’s latest basketball model, the G.T. Future. Hundreds of fans showed up for the exclusive Dec. 13 release Wale’s “Ice” colorway which serves as a testament to his status as a lifelong sneakerhead and one of Nike’s most authentic cultural ambassadors.

One of the year’s most memorable collaborations came from BMX rider Nigel Sylvester and Jordan Brand. His “Brick by Brick” Air Jordan 4 stood out not just for its design, but for its storytelling and marketing. As someone who appreciates attention to detail and narrative-driven products, this release felt like one of the strongest sneaker campaigns we’ve seen in quite some time.

Another standout was the Awake NY x Air Jordan 5 “Arctic Pink.” Awake NY reworked the upper of the Jordan 5, incorporated its branding thoughtfully, and paired the shoe with a community-focused rollout that included a block party, deli activation and even a giant slide. It was a true community sneaker and while it was unfortunate that many locals couldn’t get a pair, releases like this don’t come around often.

At the end of the day, retro footwear is still king, but 2025 delivered an overwhelming number of impressive sneakers across categories. With the year nearing its end, Billboard is ranking the 10 hottest musician sneaker collabs of 2025 for the second year in a row — highlighting the releases that defined the intersection of music, culture, and footwear this year.
