Mariah Carey‘s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” shines atop the Billboard Hot 100’s highest bough for a record-extending 22nd week, leading a record parade of holiday hits from the top of the chart on down. Seasonal songs claim the top 24 positions on the survey, surging past the prior mark of carols taking Nos. 1-16 a year ago this week (on the chart dated Jan. 4, 2025).

Helping the haul of holiday songs, the latest chart’s data tracking period encompassed the week leading up to and including Christmas Day (Dec. 19-25).

Three weeks earlier, “All I Want for Christmas Is You” returned to No. 1 on the Hot 100 to rule in a record-extending seventh holiday season. It was released on Carey’s album Merry Christmas in November 1994 and, as streaming grew and holiday music became more prominent on streaming services’ playlists, it first hit the top 10 in December 2017 and the top five in the 2018 holiday season. It led at last, prior to its four weeks this season, over the holidays in 2019 (for three weeks), 2020 (two), 2021 (three), 2022 (four), 2023 (two) and 2024 (four). (Older holiday songs are eligible to appear on the chart each season.)

Below is a rundown of the upper reaches of this week’s very merry Hot 100.

The Hot 100 blends all-genre U.S. streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay and sales data, the lattermost metric reflecting purchases of physical singles and digital tracks from full-service digital music retailers; digital singles sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites are excluded from chart calculations. All charts (dated Jan. 3, 2026) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow, Dec. 30. For all chart news, you can follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both X, formerly known as Twitter, and Instagram. Dua Lipa had herself a merry little Christmas with her family and fiancé Callum Turner, with the pop star sharing a carousel of intimate photos on Instagram showing how she spent the holidays.

In the recent snaps, Lipa cuddles up with the Fantastic Beasts actor in the kitchen — where he gives her a sweet kiss on the cheek — and on the couch. In other photos, Turner appears to have served as his famous fiancée’s sous-chef as she prepared the Christmas bird for her loved ones, a meal the musician says turned out perfectly.

“It’s all about the Love… and absolutely smashing the cooking this year (all the stars aligned for me after not being in a kitchen for 6 months!!),” Lipa wrote in the caption. “HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!! SENDING YOU ALL SO MUCH LOVE!!!!!”

Shortly afterward, the three-time Grammy winner kept the love fest going by sharing a batch of photos from her life over the past year or so — including a close-up picture of her glittering engagement ring, with Turner smushing his face against Lipa’s cheek. “READY FOR 2026 – IT JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER!!!!!” the singer wrote.

Lipa confirmed that she and Turner were engaged this past June after first sparking dating rumors in January 2024. “It’s very exciting,” she told British Vogue over the summer. “This decision to grow old together, to see a life and just, I don’t know, be best friends forever — it’s a really special feeling.”

Her year-end posts cap off an momentous 12 months for the British performer, who notably closed out her global Radical Optimism Tour in early December after more than a year on the road. The trek supported her 2024 album, Radical Optimism, which reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200.

In addition to keeping her Service 95 business and book club going throughout the year, Lipa also spent much of 2025 voicing support for the Palestinian people in Gaza leading up to the Israel-Hamas ceasefire in October after two years of war.

It’s unclear whether 2026 will bring wedding bells for Lipa and Turner, although it might be the perfect time now that her latest tour is in the books. As Lipa told British Vogue in June, “I want to finish my tour, Callum’s shooting, so we’re just enjoying this period … I’ve never been someone who’s really thought about a wedding, or dreamt about what kind of bride I would be. All of a sudden, I’m like: ‘Oh, what would I wear?’”

After 10 years and more than 1,000 tributes paid, British artist Chris Barker is shutting the lid on his ambitious Sgt. Pepper‘s project. Every December since 2016, Barker has spent the back end of the year scrambling to pull together his homage to famous, infamous and beloved figures we lost that year, all assembled in a giant, overstuffed montage honoring the Beatles iconic cover for their groundbreaking 1967 Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album.

This year’s effort was one of the most crowded ever, with 245 names on the list, from the expected — Ozzy Osbourne, Rob Reiner, Gene Hackman, Beach Boys mastermind Brian Wilson, wrestler Hulk Hogan and funk innovator Sly Stone — to some quintessentially quirky picks that will resonate with British fans, but might not translate on this side of the pond (Clodagh Rodgers, 1971 Irish Eurovision “Jack in the Box” singer).

Click here to see this year’s image and key.

“It was the night of the U.S. election. I was staying up late in the U.K. to watch America elect their first ever female president… or so I thought,” Barker says about the origins of his passion project in a statement to Billboard. “But then things took an unexpected turn. The commentators started to say things like ‘Florida is too close to call’ and I began thinking what a strange year it had been. I wanted to get my feelings about the year down on paper and for some reason it came out as a parody of the famous Beatles album cover. I posted it online and went to bed. When I woke up – on what coincidentally was my birthday – everything had changed. Trump was president, the world was in shock, I had a viral hit on my hands and the Washington Post was comparing me to Andy Warhol. Suffice to say it was big.”

Barker, however, never imagined he’d still be talking about it a decade later, as well as publishing a 100-page commemorative book compiling all the imagines that is due to ship to fans in early 2026.

What started out as his emotional, personal response to a seismic 2016 that also brought Brexit, as well as Prince and David Bowie’s deaths turned into a annual, global conversation about who should have been included and who shouldn’t have despite Barker’s insistence that it was not meant to be comprehensive and is “just a personal take on things.”

That’s why this year’s image features a frontline that truly runs the gamut: from Osbourne front -and-center, flanked by heavyweight boxing champ and grill salesman George Foreman, Stone, Blondie drummer Clem Burke and Reservoir Dogs star Michael Madsen, to Superman actors Terence Stamp and Hackman, pop savant Wilson, Butch Cassidy actor/director Robert Redford, Val Kilmer (The Doors), Diane Keaton (Annie Hall), singer Marianne Faithful, WWE icon Hogan and British boxer Ricky Hatton.

The musical world is well-represented, as usual, thanks to headshots of reggae great Jimmy Cliff, Stone Roses bassist Mani Mounfield, Sam and Dave’s Sam Moore, “Killing Me Softly” singer Robert Flack, D’Angelo, Angie Stone, Soft Cell’s Dave Ball, Booker T and the MGs Steve Cropper, Pere Ubu’s David Thomas, the Grateful Dead’s Donna Godchaux, Limp Bizkit bassist Sam Rivers, KISS guitarist Ace Frehley, the New York Dolls’ David Johansen, Moody Blues singer John Lodge, accordionist Flaco Jiménez, The Band keyboardist Garth Hudson, Supertramp’s Rick Davies and revered British vocalist Terry “Superlungs” Reid, among many others.

“I never intended to make it an annual thing. It was supposed to be a one-off. But every year people would beg me to do it again until it kind of became a routine – just something I did,” Barker says. “Everybody loves those end-of-year tributes to the stars we’ve lost over the course of a year. You pick up the papers and look through the obituaries. You love the Oscars montage of stars who’ve passed. It’s a primeval thing I suppose. You like being reminded of people you used to love that you’d forgotten about. And I’m touched that people enjoy the thing I produce so much. I really am.”

Look closer and you’ll see plenty of folks from the movies, theater, TV, politics and pop culture, including: Prunella Scales (Fawlty Towers), director David Lynch (Twin Peaks), George Wendt (Cheers), satirist Tom Lehrer, playwright Tom Stoppard, comedian Ruth Buzzi (Laugh-In), primatologist Jane Goodall, Jeffery Epstein sex-trafficking victim Virginia Giuffre, Pope Francis, The Alarm singer Mike Peters, chef Anne Burrell, reggae singer Max Romeo, Mastodon guitarist Brett Hinds, composer Lalo Schifrin (Mission Impossible), former U.S. VP Dick Cheney, Apollo 13 astronaut Jim Lovwell and Turning Point founder Charlie Kirk.

But, in the end, 10 years was enough for Barker, who jokes that as his quirky hobby has marched on, he’s gotten closer to the age of the people he’s honoring. And after a year in which Oasis reunited and set the world on fire with their sold-out world stadium tour, Barker adds that he doesn’t really “want to get to the stage where the front row are the big stars of Britpop from my youth – and I’m not that keen on one year leaving one finished and someone having to add me!”

Billboard VIP Pass

In the 2025 calendar year, 711 total songs appeared on the Billboard Hot 100, by 350 different artists. Of those artists, 75 landed on the chart for the very first time.

As has become a Billboard tradition, we’ve been spotlighting these Hot 100 first-timers throughout the year, celebrating their first appearances and sharing their reactions to the news. Now, as we ease into 2026, here’s a look back at all the acts who made their Hot 100 debuts in 2025 and the songs that turned them into Hot 100 hitmakers.

The 2025 class of first-timers was particularly notable: four of the Recording Academy’s 2026 best new artist nominees — Olivia Dean, KATSEYE, sombr and Leon Thomas — earned their first Hot 100 hits in 2025. (Best new artist nominees Addison Rae, Alex Warren and Lola Young charted for the first time in 2024, while The Marías earned their first entry in 2022.)

Dean debuted with her breakout single “Man I Need,” which reached the top 10, and followed with four additional entries. KATSEYE arrived in June with “Gnarly” and scored its first top 40 hit in November with “Gabriela.” Sombr hit the top 10 in November with “Back to Friends,” his first chart entry, and continued his momentum with “Undressed” and “12 to 12.” And Thomas — already a Hot 100-charting songwriter for acts including Drake and SZA — earned his first solo Hot 100 entry and first top 10 as a recording artist with “Mutt.”

Several longtime hitmakers also made their long-awaited Hot 100 debuts. Imogen Heap, whose 2005 track “Hide and Seek” became the foundation for Jason Derulo’s 2009 No. 1 “Whatcha Say,” finally appeared on the Hot 100 under her own name when her 20-year-old song “Headlock” charted following a TikTok revival.

Justice, one of the most influential electronic duos of the 21st century, earned its first entry in February thanks to its collaboration with The Weeknd, “Wake Me Up.”

Cult-rap icon Lil B reached the Hot 100 for the first time via “Dadz Love,” his collaboration with Justin Bieber on the latter’s Grammy-nominated Swag album.

Plus, Tame Impala scored its first-ever Hot 100 hit in October with “Dracula,” and later charted two more songs from its Deadbeat album (“Loser” and “My Old Ways”). The group’s leader, Kevin Parker, previously produced Hot 100 hits for Lady Gaga and Dua Lipa, and several of the band’s songs had chart presence via samples on other songs — Travis Scott’s 2018 hit, “Skeletons,” for example, samples Tame Impala’s “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards.”

Other noteworthy first-timers included members of the KPop Demon Hunters cast, former NBA player-turned-rapper LiAngelo Ball (recording as GELO), 2000s indie-folk duo She & Him (which comprises Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward) and, in one of the year’s quirkiest chart moments, Pharrell Williams’ Louis Vuitton handbag, Speedy. The accessory was credited as a billed artist on Don Toliver, j-hope and Pharrell’s “LV Bag,” making it, yes, the first handbag to chart on the Hot 100.

Following similar first-timer rundowns in 2024 and 2023, below, in chronological order, is a complete list of every artist who earned their first Hot 100 hit in 2025 (encompassing the charts dated Jan. 4-Dec. 27, 2025).

Frank Sinatra extends his record as the artist with the longest span of top 10 albums in the history of the Billboard 200. The legendary singer, who first made the top 10 on Billboard’s flagship album chart on the chart dated April 7, 1956 with Songs for Swingin’ Lovers, returns to the top 10 on the chart dated Jan. 3, 2026 with Ultimate Christmas  – giving him a nearly 70-year span of top 10 albums.

Related

Ultimate Christmas was released in 2017 and first cracked the top 10 one year ago. Songs for Swingin’ Lovers made the top 10 in just the third week that the Billboard 200 appeared in Billboard as a consistent, weekly feature.

Two other legendary singers – Nat King Cole and Bing Crosby – also extend their spans of top 10 albums on the Billboard 200. Cole, who first cracked the top 10 on the chart dated April 20, 1957 with Love Is the Thing, inches up from No. 5 to No. 4 with The Christmas Song. Crosby, who first cracked the top 10 on the chart dated Dec. 9, 1957 with White Christmas, jumps from No. 6 to No. 2 with his holiday collection, also titled Ultimate Christmas. Cole and Crosby are runners-up to Sinatra for longest spans of top 10 albums on the Billboard 200.

Notably, all three singers had top 10 albums on album charts that preceded the introduction of the Billboard 200. (Because those charts didn’t appear every week, they are not considered as definitive as the Billboard 200.) On those pre-Billboard 200 charts, which date to 1945, Crosby first made the top 10 in 1945; Sinatra first hit the top 10 in 1946; and Cole first hit the region in 1945 as the leader of The King Cole Trio and first made it as a solo artist in 1952.

Crosby’s original 1942 recording of “White Christmas” (featuring The Ken Darby Singers and John Scott Trotter and His Orchestra) and The King Cole Trio’s 1946 recording of “The Christmas Song” were two of the first five recordings inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1974. Crosby’s original recording of “White Christmas” was also in the inaugural class inducted into the National Recording Registry in 2002. A 1961 solo recording by Cole of “The Christmas Song” was inducted into the National Recording Registry in 2022.

In 1963, Crosby became the first recipient of a lifetime achievement award from the Recording Academy. (In fact, the award was called the Bing Crosby Award through 1972.) In 1965, Sinatra became the second recipient. Cole received the honor posthumously in 1990.

Cole died of cancer in 1965 at just 45. Crosby died in 1977 at age 74. Of the three legends, Sinatra lived the longest. He died in 1998 at age 82.

Chappell Roan has paid tribute to Brigitte Bardot following the iconic French actress’ death at the age of 91.

Related

In an Instagram Story post on Sunday (Dec. 28) — the same day Bardot’s foundation announced the news — the pop star shared a glamorous photo of the late legend and wrote, “Rest in peace Ms. Bardot.”

Roan also wrote, “She was my inspiration for red wine supernova,” referencing one of her Billboard Hot 100 hits, “Red Wine Supernova.”

On her The Rise & Fall of a Midwest Princess track, the Missouri native sings, “She was a playboy, Brigitte Bardot/ She showed me things I didn’t know/ She did it right there out on the deck/ Put her canine teeth in the side of my neck.”

Roan is one of many Bardot fans expressing sadness over the former model’s passing. On Sunday, The Brigitte Bardot Foundation — which its namesake created in 1986 to champion the rights of animals — announced her death in a statement, praising her as “an exceptional woman who gave everything and gave up everything for a world more respectful of animals.” The statement added, “Her legacy lives on through the actions and struggles the Foundation continues with the same passion and the same fidelity to her ideals.”

Before changing paths to become an animal rights activist, Bardot forged a singular legacy for herself as an actress (1956’s And God Created Woman was an international sensation), singer (her Serge Gainsbourg duet “Bonnie and Clyde” from 1968 is an enduring favorite), model, fashion icon and sex symbol. Roan is far from the only modern star to have taken inspiration from the legendary entertainer: Sabrina Carpenter often channels her through fashion, while Olivia Rodrigo sings on “Lacy,” “Dazzling starlet, Bardot reincarnate / Well, aren’t you the greatest thing to ever exist?”

Bardot’s memory is also complicated by her controversial support of far-right politics in her home country and her five convictions of inciting racial hatred against Muslims.

Last week (Dec. 23), Billboard published the November Boxscore report, with Paul McCartney back on top as the biggest touring act of the month. But while the biggest stars of rock, hip-hop and more packed stadiums, comedians were road warrior-ing their way to sold-out theaters and arenas. Here, we’re looking at the five biggest comedy tours of November 2025.

Earlier this year, Billboard launched its comedy hub with rundowns of the biggest touring comedians of the midyear Boxscore period (Oct. 1, 2024 – March 31, 2025) and of the months that followed. Sebastian Maniscalco, Matt Rife and Weird Al Yankovic topped those lists, but another former chart-topper bulldozes ahead atop the November recap.

This is Nate Bargetze’s fifth month at No. 1, and fourth in a row. He first dominated in May, and then returned for August, September and October. He’s grossed $13.2 million from 182,000 tickets across 13 shows. Not only is this the fourth straight month for Bargatze above $10 million, but it’s also the fourth in a row where he’s the only comic to pull eight figures.

He went back-to-back with double-headers in Seattle (Nov. 6-7 at Climate Pledge Arena), Portland, Ore. (Nov. 8-9 at Moda Center), Tampa (Nov. 13-14 at Benchmark International Arena), Charlotte, N.C. (Nov. 20-21 at Spectrum Center), and in Greenville, S.C. (both on Nov. 22 at Bon Secours Wellness Arena). The first four of those brought in over $2 million.

Keep scrolling for a detailed breakdown of the top grossing touring comedy tours of November by the numbers. This month’s round-up includes one major comic (Ricky Gervais) who sports their first appearance on the monthly ranking.

Boxscore charts are based on figures reported to Billboard Boxscore. International grosses are converted to USD.

Most Billboard readers have at least a rough idea of the top albums and songs of each year but may be less familiar with the top box-office hits from each year. Fortunately, boxofficemojo.com has that information for each year dating back to 1977.

So what do we learn scrolling through the list of top-grossing films for each year since Jimmy Carter became president and Elvis Presley died? One thing that comes across loud and clear is the degree to which sequels and franchises have come to dominate the marketplace. Just five of the year-end box-office champs were films that were not part of franchises (or did not spark a franchise or a reboot of some kind). Those five films that stand alone are E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Ghost, Titanic and Barbie.

Star Wars is the top franchise on this recap, with six installments that have been the year’s top-grossing film. Batman is runner-up, with four installments that finished first for the year. Spider-Man is third, with three installments that yielded the year’s top box-office hit.

James Cameron and George Lucas are tied as the only directors who each directed three films that took the year-end crown. Tim Burton, Sam Raimi, Tony Scott, Steven Spielberg, Andrew Stanton and Robert Zemeckis are tied for second place, each having directed two year-end champs.

John Williams is far and away the top film scorer. The legendary composer scored 10 films that took the year-end box-office crown. Danny Elfman, Alan Silvestri and Hans Zimmer have each scored films that finished first four times.

Let’s scroll back through the films that had the most success at the domestic box office (that’s the U.S. and Canada) in each calendar year since 1977, when Annie debuted on Broadway, Laverne & Shirley was the top TV show and Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours dominated the Billboard 200.
