‘Power Book II’: How to Watch 50 Cent’s Hit Series Online

If you’ve happened to check Twitter on the weekend, then you may have seen Power Book II: Ghost on the list of trending topics. Season 2 of the spinoff series, starring Michael Rainey Jr., debuted last year, but for those who want to catch up on the show before a new episode arrives this Sunday (Jan. 30), Starz is offering a limited promo that lets you join the service for less than $1 a month for the first six months.

Picking up where its predecessor left off, Power Book II follows Tariq (Rainey Jr.) as he navigates life while trying to escape his father’s haunting legacy.

Method Man, Mary J. Blige, Gianni Paolo, Larenz Tate, Daniel Sunjata, Shane Johnson, Woody McClain, Daniel Bellomy, Lovell Adams-Gray and Paige Hurd are among the ensemble cast.

The crime drama, created by Courtney Kemp and executive produced by 50 Cent, premiered in 2020. Season 2 arrived on Starz in November 2021 and filming for season 3 is already under way, according to 50 Cent who shared behind-the-scenes footage via Instagram on Tuesday (Jan. 25).

All 10 episodes from season 1 are currently available for on-demand viewing, as well as the first eight episodes from the second season, which will be updated as the episodes premiere. New episodes drop Sundays at midnight via the Starz app. The show also airs on the network at 9 p.m. ET every Sunday.

The Lumineers’ ‘Brightside’ No. 1 Debut Leads Busy Top Album Sales Chart

The Lumineers land its third straight, and total, No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart (dated Jan. 29), as the act’s latest release, Brightside, opens atop the list with nearly 26,000 copies sold in the U.S. in the week ending Jan. 20, according to MRC Data. The Lumineers previously led the list with its last two full-length studio albums, III (in 2019) and Cleopatra (in 2016).

Brightside leads a busy top 10 on Top Album Sales, as the latest efforts from ENHYPEN, Skillet, Underoath and Casting Crowns all debut in the region.

Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart ranks the top-selling albums of the week based only on traditional album sales. The chart’s history dates back to May 25, 1991, the first week Billboard began tabulating charts with electronically monitored piece count information from SoundScan, now MRC Data. Pure album sales were the sole measurement utilized by the Billboard 200 albums chart through the list dated Dec. 6, 2014, after which that chart switched to a methodology that blends album sales with track equivalent album units and streaming equivalent album units. Of Brightside’s 25,600 copies sold in its first week, physical sales comprise 19,100 (15,000 on vinyl LP; 3,800 on CD and 300 cassette tape) and digital sales comprise 6,500 sold. Brightside also launches at No. 1 on the Vinyl Albums chart.

ENHYPEN’s Dimension: Answer arrives at No. 2 with 21,000 sold. Physical sales comprise over 99% of the set’s first-week sales – all from its CD edition. (It’s digital album sold a negligible sum.) Like many K-pop releases, the CD edition of the album was issued in collectible packages (three total, including one Target-exclusive edition), each with randomized internal paper goods (such as photocards and bookmarks).

After eight straight weeks at No. 1, Adele’s 30 falls from the top slot for the first time, dipping to No. 3 in its ninth week on the list (18,000 sold; down 16%).

The soundtrack to Disney’s Encanto posts a gain in sales, rising 4% to 17,000 sold – but is pushed down 2-4, owed to the two debuts at Nos. 1 and 2.

Skillet’s Dominion debuts at No. 5 (12,000 sold), Olivia Rodrigo’s former No. 1 Sour falls 4-6 (9,000; down 13%), Taylor Swift’s chart-topping Red (Taylor’s Version) dips 5-7 (8,000; down 13%), Underoath’s Voyeurist starts at No. 8 (7,000), Casting Crowns’ Healer bows at No. 9 (nearly 7,000) and Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours moves 6-10 (6,000; down 18%).

In the week ending Jan. 20, there were 1.729 million albums sold in the U.S. (up 0.8% compared to the previous week). Of that sum, physical albums (CDs, vinyl LPs, cassettes, etc.) comprised 1.326 million (up 0.6%) and digital albums comprised 403,000 (up 1.3%).

Year-to-date album sales total 5.270 million (down 13.6% compared to the same year-to-date time frame a year ago). Year-to-date physical album sales stand at 4.069 million (down 12.2%) and digital album sales total 1.202 million (down 18.2%).

Madonna Says She Wants to Go on Tour With Britney Spears & ‘Reenact’ VMAs Kiss

Madonna wants to bring the headline-making moment of the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards to 2022.

In a recent Instagram Live session, Madonna was asked if she would ever do a world tour again. “Hell yeah, I have to,” she replied. “Stadium, baby. Me and Britney [Spears], what about that? Yeah, I’m not sure she’d be into it, but it would be really cool. We could, like, reenact the original kiss.”

Madame X, of course, was referring to her 2003 VMAs performance with Spears, Missy Elliott and Christina Aguilera, where the trio performed a medley of hits including “Like a Virgin” and “Hollywood.”

Madonna then surprised everyone by kissing Spears onstage. After a quick camera cut to the pop princess’ ex-boyfriend, Justin Timberlake, Madonna then smooched Aguilera. But it was the Britney-Madonna kiss that made news.

At the height of the #FreeBritney movement, Madonna advocated for an end of Spears’ 13-year conservatorship, which was officially terminated by a Los Angeles judge in November.

In July 2021, Madonna wrote on her Instagram Story that the justice system needs to “give this woman her life back.”

Over a photo of herself wearing a Britney T-shirt, Madonna wrote: “Give this woman her life back. Slavery was abolished so long ago! Death to the greedy patriarchy that has been doing this to women for centuries. This is a violation of human rights! Britney we coming to get you out of jail!”

Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish & More Check Out Art Inspired by Their Music at LACMA Interscope Exhibit

LACMA previewed a new exhibit Wednesday night, and if you happened to pore over the guest list thinking it was a roster for a summer music festival, few could blame you.

The museum hosted Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas, Olivia Rodrigo, Jared Leto, Machine Gun Kelly, Lana Del Rey, Kelly Rowland, Karen O, Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, Alexander 23 and members of No Doubt, among others, for the unveiling of Artists Inspired by Music: Interscope Reimagined. Timed to coincide with Interscope’s 30th anniversary, the exhibit is comprised of more than 50 pieces created by visual artists as inspired by albums and sounds of Interscope’s stable of artists.

There’s a reason many of the aforementioned names were making the rounds inside the Resnick Pavilion as Eilish, Rodrigo, MGK, Nine Inch Nails and No Doubt are among the stars that inspired artworks. Also on that list are 2Pac, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Gwen Stefani, Juice WRLD, Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, Mary J. Blige, Selena Gomez, Snoop Dogg and U2, among others. The works were created by such leading visual artists as Cecily Brown, Julie Curtiss, Shepard Fairey, Lauren Halsey, Damien Hirst, Rashid Johnson, Takashi Murakami, Richard Prince, Ed Ruscha, Kehinde Wiley, and others.

The project was shepherded by Interscope co-founder Jimmy Iovine, chairman John Janick, Pulse Music Group co-founder Josh Abraham, and Interscope vice chairman Steve Berman, who worked closely with all of the music and visual artists. Also in the mix was LACMA associate curator of decorative arts and design Staci Steinberger. All were in attendance along with Brian Grazer, Deborah McLeod, Fergie, Ferrari Sheppard, Finneas, Genesis Tramaine, Henry Taylor, Hilary Pecis, Nine Inch Nail’s Ilan Rubin, Jeffrey Deitch, Jennifer Guidi, Jeremy Erlich, Justin Lubliner, Larry Jackson, Liberty Ross, Lucy Bull, Max Lousada, Megan Fox, Nick Zinner, Shepard Fairey, Steve Stoute, Ted Field, The Game, Umar Rashid, Willow Bay, Zane Lowe, Tom Whalley, and No Doubt’s Adrian Young, Tom Dumont and Tony Kanal.

The exhibit, which officially opens Jan. 30 and is on view through Feb. 13, arrives with a few raised eyebrows. The Los Angeles Times posted a commentary from art critic Christopher Knight that questions why an institution like LACMA would partner on such a project, one he criticizes as art conceived as a corporate marketing tool. “Strip away the diverting celebrity names, and what’s left is just a museum show of a corporate collection,” he writes.
