Kid Cudi has returned to release his 10th studio album, as Free hit streaming services on Friday (Aug. 22).

The 13-track effort is free of features and includes previously-released singles such as “Neverland,” “Mr. Miracle” and “Grave.” It’s Cudder’s first LP since 2024’s Insano, which debuted at No. 13 on the Billboard 200.

For the cover art, Cudi took inspiration from The Truman Show. Like Jim Carrey leaving Seahaven, Cudi steps through a doorway in the cloudy sky,

“I wanted something that really expressed freedom, so the concept of me leaping into the clouds made so much sense,” he wrote on IG when revealing the cover. “Inspired by The Truman Show. I cant WAIT for u guys to hear this album and really see the album art brought to life. You’re in for a beautiful ride. Promise.”

August has been a busy month for Kid Cudi, who released his vulnerable memoir on Aug. 12. He opened up his world to GQ, who received an early excerpt from the book, which found Cudi recalling a near-drug overdose circa 2010.

“I was at peace with dying,” Cudi wrote. “After doing more coke than I ever had in my life I was losing all sense of what was real. I’d been alone in my New York apartment, crying for hours, listening to the Lykke Li song ‘Time Flies’ on repeat. It was a love song, but the melodies and her voice filled me with despair.”

He continued: “I was a role model, but I didn’t feel like one. People called me their savior. But who was going to save me? I was a lighthouse for others, but I couldn’t find my own way,” he added. “It was peace I was after. Here, crippled on the floor, minutes from overdosing, was the closest I’d ever come to finding it. ‘You made great music that people loved,’ I thought, ‘but this is the end.’”

Country’s favorite rapper BigXthaPlug released his highly-anticipated I Hope You’re Happy album on Friday (Aug. 21).

The country-trap effort delves into all the emotions surrounding a recent relationship BigX was in that resulted in the couple going their separate ways.

The Dallas native tapped a handful of country stars to join him on the effort, including Jelly Roll, Darius Rucker, Luke Combs, Bailey Zimmerman, Thomas Rhett, Tucker Wetmore, Shaboozey and Ella Langley.

BigX credited a Billboard interview at the top of the year with pushing him to complete a country project. During his chat with Billboard, he teased that he had the pillars of a project jumping into country ready, but the truth was that none of that was actually in motion at the time.

“I go and do a Billboard interview and I straight up say, ‘I got a country project on the way,’” he told the New York Times’ Popcast. “And I never had a country project on the way… I wasn’t thinking properly, they had just made me cry in the middle of the interview… We come back and I’m kinda trying to change the narrative, ‘I got a country project on the way.’ After I was like, ‘Damn.’

He continued: “I said that and my team was like, ‘You know you gotta do it now, right?’ Days later, You got Jelly Roll saying [he wants in on the album] and we getting demo after demo from all these other artists.”

I Hope You’re Happy, which BigX originally titled Not Just Country, serves as his first project since 2024’s Take Care, which debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200.

Doja Cat will play arenas in Australia and New Zealand for the first time when her Ma Vie World Tour stops by later this year.

The Grammy Award-winning singer will kick-off her jaunt Nov. 18 at Auckland’s Spark Arena, then heads west for shows at Perth’s RAC Arena (Nov. 22), Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena (Nov. 25), Brisbane Entertainment Centre (Nov. 29) and wraps up Dec. 1 at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena, the biggest arena in the country.

Australian audiences should lap up Doja Cat tickets. The U.S. artist took out the No. 1 spot in triple j’s record-breaking hottest 100 countdown of 2023 with “Paint The Town Red,” which spent 10 weeks at the top of the ARIA Chart.

When her name was called out, she became the first female rapper and first woman of color to lead triple j’s poll, the 31st edition. “Paint The Town Red” also logged three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and four consecutive weeks at the top of the Billboard Global 200 leaderboard.

In Australia, Doja’s last two albums, 2023’s Scarlet (No. 5) and 2021’s Planet Her (No. 2), both cracked the top 10 on the ARIA Chart.

Doja is readying the release of her fifth studio album, Vie (via Kemosabe Records/ RCA Records), due out Sept. 26.

She previously told V Magazine that her upcoming LP is a “pop-driven” project. “I do want to be self-aware enough to admit the fact that this is a pop-driven project,” she remarked. “I know that I can make pop music, and pop is just that it’s popular. It starts to become a bit of a thing that’s viewed as a sport by people who are just bystanders to it, who enjoy it, but maybe also don’t respect it or what it is, which is just music … They see it as if this is some kind of football for girls and gays.”

Doja has shared another cut from it, “Jealous Type,” produced by Jack Antonoff and Y2K, with the music video directed by Boni Mata and filmed in Los Angeles.

Live Nation is producing the Ma Vie World Tour of ANZ. The General onsale gets underway Thursday Aug. 28 at 11am AEST at dojacat.com/tour.

The band’s Los Angeles shows may still be weeks away, but Oasis fever has already reached Los Angeles, with the Wednesday (Aug. 20) opening of the Oasis Live ’25 Fan Store on Hollywood Boulevard.

The first Fan Store to open in North America amid the band’s current world tour comes ahead of their two-night takeover at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, on. Sept. 6-7.

Located in the heart of Hollywood, the store was properly buzzing on opening day, with a line of fans snaked around the corner and the group’s greatest hits blasting through the speakers inside as Oasis fans young and old shopped.

The space is populated with merchandise specific to the band’s current reunion tour — its first run since splitting in 2009 — along with more general Oasis swag, including T-shirts, jackets, hoodies, stickers, coffee mugs, tote bags, a selection of children’s clothing and, naturally, several varieties of bucket hats.

The store’s offerings also include the band’s official collaboration with Adidas, a collection that includes track suits, soccer jerseys and more and which was moving off shelves and over to the cash registers at a brisk pace. But even those without funds to spend can walk away with some memorabilia, as the store includes an installation emulating the cover of the group’s 1994 debut album, Definitely Maybe, where fans can take photos and show off their best Liam-lying-down pose.

The store’s Los Angeles location is the first of several North American Oasis Live ’25 Fan Stores. The Toronto shop opened Thursday (Aug. 21); the New York location opens on Aug. 23; and the Chicago store launches Aug. 26. These shops are opening ahead of the band’s dates in each of these cities, with the Toronto performances up first on Aug. 24-25, Chicago on Aug. 28, the New York City-adjacent shows in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Aug. 31-Sept. 1, Los Angeles on Sept. 6-7, and Mexico City on Sept. 12-13.

Is the beef between Gavin Adcock and Charley Crockett over?

It appears so. Adcock posted a video to Instagram on Thursday (Aug. 21), noting that Crockett is attempting to bury the hatchet. The video clip shows Adcock sitting in a backstage area and holding a large bouquet of roses and a copy of Crockett’s new album Dollar a Day. Adcock poked fun at Crockett while accepting flowers and vinyl.

“Apparently last night Charley Crockett was supposed to play the venue that we’re playing tonight, but he didn’t sell enough tickets, so he had to move to a smaller venue down the street — but before he left he sent me 60 roses and a $3 vinyl, so shout-out to Charley Crockett,” Adcock says with a smile. “I appreciate ya, buddy.”

Adcock’s tour schedule has him slated to perform at WAVE in Wichita, Kansas, on Thursday night, while Crockett performed at Wichita’s The Cotillion on Wednesday. Crockett had previously been scheduled to perform at WAVE back in May, but the show was postponed and moved to The Cotillion.

In June, Adcock had some thoughts to share about Beyoncé’s Grammy-winning Cowboy Carter album during one of his concerts. Adcock blasted Bey’s project, which was keeping his own album out of the top three on Apple Music’s country albums chart at the time.

Earlier this week, Crockett issued a lengthy Instagram post that seemingly called out Adcock and other country stars who have spoken out against Cowboy Carter, and also defended Beyoncé. Crockett didn’t mention Adcock by name, but in his message he wrote, “I don’t need to put down a Black woman to advance my music. That’s just embarrassing to the idea of America and I got no respect for it.”

Adcock quickly fired back at Crockett on social media. He also didn’t mention Crockett by name, but wrote, “Somebody needs to tell the ‘act’ that has let out (the cover) of James town ferry 6 times he should just work on letting out quality original music. I got more cowsh– under my pinky then you have seen your whole f—in’ life. Hank sr called and asked about the cosplay cowboy.”

“Jamestown Ferry,” which Tanya Tucker first recorded in 1972, was included on Crockett’s 2017 album Lil G.L.’s Honky Tonk Jubilee and then on 2023’s Live From The Ryman, as well as a remixed version of the song on 2025’s Lonesome Drifter.

A spokesperson for Crockett had not returned Billboard‘s request for comment by press time to confirm whether the flowers and album came from him.

Legendary British rock band Muse has signed with Brent Smith at Wasserman Music, Billboard has confirmed. Muse was previously represented by United Talent Agency.

Muse is one of the most successful rock bands in live music, grossing more than $200 million in ticket sales since 2000, with more than 3.1 million tickets sold, according to Billboard Boxscore. Formed in the British seaside town of Teignmouth, Devon, in the mid-1990s, Muse is made up of Matthew Bellamy on guitar and vocals, Chris Wolstenholme on bass and Dominic Howard on drums.

Muse headlined Madrid’s Cool festival in 2025, Germany’s Hurricane Festival and Southside Festival in 2023, Reading and Leeds in 2017 and Glastonbury in 2016. The trio has also headlined BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Download Festival, Rock in Rio, Coachella, Isle of Wight, Big Day, Pinkpop and many more.

Muse has sold more than 30 million albums globally, won multiple Brit Awards, MTV Europe Music Awards, NME Awards and taken home two Grammy Awards for Best Rock Album, first with The Resistance (2009) and later with Drones (2015).

Since launching, Muse has undertaken nine major tours across North and South America, Europe and Asia. The band’s Simulation Theory World Tour in 2019 featured a mix of iconic arenas, stadiums, festivals including Madison Square Garden in New York, Stade de France in Paris and Foro Sol in Mexico City. The band’s Will of the People World Tour in 2022 and 2023, carried that momentum forward, hitting the United Center in Chicago, Stadio Olimpico in Rome and Kuala Lumpur’s National Stadium.

Even Britney Spears likes to listen to a little bit of Justin Timberlake here and there.

In a video posted to the pop star’s Instagram on Wednesday, Spears enjoys a day on the water, wearing a green bikini while filming herself dancing on a boat. In the background, JT and Timbaland’s “Carry Out” plays.

Elsewhere in the clip, the Princess of Pop speaks in an unidentifiable accent while talking to the boat’s captain. “Me and this man are out here in this water!” she says excitedly, showing off her remote location for the camera. “Look at us! Sorry, I’m a nerd.”

Spears’ use of Timberlake’s 2009 hit — which reached No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 — is sure to turn heads, considering the two stars’ history. The pair dated from 1999 to 2002, and in her 2023 memoir, the “Toxic” singer shared a few unflattering revelations about her famous ex-boyfriend, including how he allegedly cheated on her during their relationship.

Even so, Spears has supported her ex’s music in the past. In 2024, she gushed that she was “so in love with Justin Timberlake’s new song ‘Selfish,’” and this past March, she shared a video of herself dancing by a fireplace to the former *NSYNC member’s “Señorita.”

The performer’s post comes a few weeks after Timberlake made headlines for revealing his Lyme disease diagnosis in a message to fans shared just after the close of his Forget Tomorrow World Tour.

“If you’ve experienced this disease or know someone who has — then you’re aware: living with this can be relentlessly debilitating, both mentally and physically,” he wrote at the time. “When I first got the diagnosis I was shocked for sure. But, at least I could understand why I would be onstage and in a massive amount of nerve pain or, just feeling crazy fatigue or sickness.”

Spears, on the other hand, has been having fun sharing bits of her life with followers on social media in recent months, including her hangouts with son Jayden.

A man accused of organizing the hit that killed rapper Young Dolph in 2021 has been found not guilty of criminal charges.

Hernandez Govan was acquitted of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder after a weeklong trial on Thursday (Aug. 21), according to court records obtained by Billboard. Govan was charged with helping hire two men to fatally shoot Young Dolph (Adolph Thorton Jr.) in broad daylight at a bakery in the 36-year-old rapper’s hometown of Memphis, Tennessee.

One of Dolph’s alleged shooters, Justin Johnson, was convicted last year and sentenced to life in prison. The second, Cornelius Smith, is cooperating with Memphis prosecutors in the hopes of getting a more lenient punishment.

Smith testified at the trials of both Johnson and Govan, saying they all conspired to commit the murder after Anthony “Big Jook” Mims – the brother of Yo Gotti, another Memphis rapper who had a public feud with Dolph – put up a $100,000 bounty.

Big Jook, who was never charged in the case, was killed in a shooting last year.

Govan has maintained that he did not direct anybody to kill Dolph. His defense attorney Manny Arora cast Smith as a liar and accused investigators of botching the murder investigation, citing shoddy cell phone records to missing DNA evidence. This appears to have swayed jurors, who acquitted Govan after deliberating for three hours on Thursday.

“Govan was never in on any of it,” Arora told Fox 13 Memphis after the verdict on Thursday. “This was all garbage, and I’m grateful that he’s out.”

Govan himself addressed the media as well, calling the prosecution “corrupt.”

“I feel like I’ve been born again,” added Govan. “I get a chance to restart my life and do some positive things.”

Reps from the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office did not return a request for comment.

Dolph was a fast-rising star in the rap world before his 2021 murder. He had three albums reach the top 10 of the Billboard 200, with his 2020 LP Rich Slave peaking at No. 4. He founded the independent record label Paper Route Empire, which continues to put out music from Dolph’s protégé Key Glock and other rappers.

Linkin Park’s Zero World Tour of Australia has doubled in size.

As reported earlier this month, the US alternative rock favorites will bring their world tour to these parts in March 2026 for an east coast leg, their first since 2013.

Originally set for three shows in the country’s big three capital cities, Linkin Park’s jaunt expands to six shows stopping at Brisbane Entertainment Centre (March 3 and 5), Rod Laver Arena (March 8 and 10) and Qudos Bank Arena (March 14 and 15).

Those three new shows are added “in response to extraordinary demand in the pre-sale period,” reads a statement from Live Nation Australasia, which is producing the trek.

Tickets for all 2026 Australia dates go on sale to the public tomorrow, Friday Aug. 22 at 11AM AEST.

“The fans’ support is overwhelming,” comments Mike Shinoda, “and we’re ready to bring this energy to Australia.” From Zero, the band’s eighth studio album, released November 2024 through Warner Records and Machine Shop, “is a new chapter for us, and we’re so excited to share it with everyone on a bigger scale,” he continues.

On their forthcoming run Down Under, Shinoda, Dave “Phoenix” Farrell, Joe Hahn, Emily Armstrong, and Colin Brittain will perform new Linkin Park cuts including “The Emptiness Machine” and “Heavy Is The Crown” plus anthems from across their 20-plus year career.

From Zero gave Linkin Park their first No. 1 debut on the ARIA Chart, and first with the new lineup, which is now led by Armstrong and was assembled following the passing of former frontman Chester Bennington in 2017.

None of Linkin Park’s studio LPs have gone lower than No. 3 on the ARIA Chart. From Zero is the band’s fourth leader on the Austarlian chart, after 2000 breakthrough Hybrid Theory, Minutes to Midnight from 2007 and A Thousand Suns from 2010.

Dom Dolla headlines the 10th anniversary edition of Beyond The Valley, one of Australia’s biggest multi-day music festivals.

The superstar Australian DJ and producer is joined on the NYE lineup by pop culture phenom Addison Rae, hip-hop veteran Kid Cudi, who returns to the land Down Under for the first time in over a decade, plus US hardcore punk act Turnstile.

Also on the bill is Spacey Jane, I Hate Models, KETTAMA, Chris Stussy, Ben Böhmer, The Temper Trap, Luude, JoJo (Australian exclusive), 070 Shake, DJ HEARTSTRING, VTSS, SWIM, Pegassi, Channel Tres, Balu Brigada, Fcukers, Jane Remover, Miss Kaninna, and others.

“Ten years ago, what BTV is now, we’d never have thought possible,” comments Nicholas Greco, co-founder and managing partner of Untitled Group. “It’s become a rite of passage for so many, and we’re proud to create a space where people can discover new artists, share unforgettable moments, and ring in the new year with friends.”

When Dom Dolla gets to work on the wheels of steel at BTV, it’ll been seen as the return of the prodigal son.

Dolla has a career-long relationship with UNTITLED Group, the Melbourne-based independent events team behind festival, and has knocked up eight editions as a performing artist.

This year has been one highlight after the next for Dom, during which he headlined two sold-out Madison Square Garden shows (where he collaborated on stage with Kid Cudi), played Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, EDC Las Vegas, Ultra Miami, covered Rolling Stone AU/NZ, and launched a 10-week Hï Ibiza residency, which is ongoing.

Last year, Dolla (real name: Dominic Matheson) smashed the record for a homegrown DJ’s tour of these parts, selling more than 170,000 across a four-date lap, produced by UNTITLED.

He’ll set the bar once again this December, when he’ll perform his biggest-ever Australian headline show at Sydney’s Allianz Stadium, from which he’ll bounce into the BTV lineup.

Presented by Untitled Group and triple j, the festival returns to Victoria’s picturesque Barunah Plains from Dec. 28 to Jan. 1.

The “BTV Besties” presale begins Thursday, Aug. 28 at 11am AEST, with the official presale launching the following Thursday, Aug. 28 at 6pm AEST, and general on sale starting Friday, Aug. 29 at 12pm AEST.
