In case you were living under a rock or just woke up from coma, last night Lil Yachty had a public meltdown on Instagram Live over his former artist Karrahbooo and his podcast co-host and friend Mitch.

First, a clip of his podcast A Safe Place went around of him, Mitch, and Key Glock having a discussion about trying to understand why some want what others have when things got awkward. “Some people gotta eat, gotta feed they family, however the case may be,” Yachty said. “That’s when the militant part comes into play because sometimes, unfortunately, don’t wanna put in work and just want what you have. And that’s a whole different conversation because I ain’t been rich forever.” Adding, “I done been broke before, so who am I to tell this n—a not to go do what you gotta do.

Mitch disagreed and said you can give them different advice.” However, Yachty then replied, “Like what? You ain’t never had a job. What you gonna tell a n—a to get a job?” The Atlanta rapper then brought up what Mitch would be doing with his life if Yachty wasn’t around and all Key Glock could do was sit there in silence.

Naturally, Rap Twitter had a field day with said clip and criticized Yachty for being a bad friend. Boat addressed the viral clip during his IG Live session and stated he started the podcast to help his friend and said he was going to end it because Mitch wouldn’t defend him on social media. “I aint want to do no motherf—king podcast, n—a, I’m a f—king rapper.”

Mitch then took to X to clear the air, suggesting him and Yachty joke around and are often brutally honest with each other.

As for Karrahbooo, a waitress at Red Lobster set fire to this whole night. X user @C_Staxxz claimed the former Concrete Boy member walked into the restaurant chain to buy some Cheddar Bay Biscuits said she was kicked out of the group after being asked why she left. The user also claimed Karrahbooo told her that “they were really mean to her and bullying her a lot.”

Those two now-deleted tweets bothered Yachty so much, he decided to hop on Live and finally address the situation. He responded by saying, “Tell people how you verbally abuse people. Don’t get on here to make it seem like niggas kicked you out… bullying you? Bro, go ‘head and tell people how you talk to people… You talk to people like they’re small, like they’re beneath you.”

He then claimed that he wrote all of her verses and styled her and the other members of the Concrete Boys. “I wrote every f—king verse you’ve done,” he said. “I dressed you. I dressed all five of y’all n—as, bro. I dressed five n—as every time we stepped out the house. I put an outfit on everybody. I put eight carat earrings in everybody ear. I put three chains on all y’all neck.”

Adding, “We bought a Cartier watch. I gave you that chrome Rolex, bro. You was waiting tables… What are we talking about, n—a? I changed your motherf—king life and you are here lying, talking about some, ‘We bully you’… That sh—t got me f—ked up, bro. You got me f—ked up, bro. You disrespectful, bro. You talk to people crazy. You tell people that they are nothing. You tell people you’re going to spit on them. You tell people they poor and you talk to my f—king label crazy. You claim I was stealing money from you. Stealing money from you how? You ain’t made no money.”

He continued, “This the problem with you new artists. Y’all get poppin’ online and then you become more popular than your actual music. You $900,000 in the whole and I got every f—king receipt.” Boat then brought up her viral On the Radar freestyle and said he was trying to make her pop off and it worked. “I slowed the beat down, I put 808s specifically on your verse so when it got to your part and the beat dropped, everyone would be like, ‘This girl is the craziest one.’”

For whatever reason, Boat finds himself in these situations and even went as far as to claim he was going to stop talking on the Internet. “I’m not doing no more talkin’,” Yachty said on Instagram Live last month. “I don’t got s—t else to say. I’m gone off this internet s—t. I think I’m gone for the rest of the year. I swear to God. I ain’t got s—t else to say.

Karrahbooo has yet to respond.

There was one extra Madonna in the Vatican recently.

One week after turning 66, Madonna gave fans a peek at her family trip to the Catholic Church headquarters via Instagram on Friday (Aug. 23). While in Rome, she snapped glamorous photos showing off a chic floral dress, hat and gloves, posing in front of the ancient Vatican City architecture and admiring some of the gorgeous marble statues and religious paintings immortalized on the walls inside the holy buildings.

“Arrivederci Roma!!!” she captioned the post. “a perfect ending to a Glorious Birthday Celebration with friends and family! … Ciao Italia!!!!”

The “Material Girl” singer also included a snap of her 11-year-old twins Estere and Stella wearing matching polka-dot dresses on the outing, as well as a photo in which she stands next to her rumored boyfriend, Akeem Morris. In the latter, Madge cools herself off with a delicate fan while the soccer player sports a white scarf as a veil over his head.

The post comes nearly four months after Madonna wrapped up her Celebration Tour in early May, closing out a career-spanning showcase that kicked off later than expected due to the superstar being hospitalized in June 2023 for a bacterial infection. On the Fourth of July this year, the Queen of Pop reflected on her recovery in a heartfelt Instagram post, writing, ”A year ago today, I had just come home from the hospital after surviving a life threatening illness, I could barely stand in my backyard holding one sparkler.”

“I made a miraculous recovery and had an amazing year,” she added at the time. “Thank you God. Life is beautiful!”

Later that month, Madonna and her twin daughters walked the red carpet at the Deadpool & Wolverine premiere in celebration of the icon’s 1989 hit “Like a Prayer” being used in the superhero film. In an interview with SiriusXM shortly before the premiere, the film’s star Ryan Reynolds and director Shawn Levy opened up about the process of getting the song cleared for the project, which apparently involved a personal visit to Madge’s house.

“It was a big deal to ask for it and certainly a bigger deal to use it,” Levy recalled. “We went over and met with her and and sort of showed her how it was being used, and where, and why.”

“She gave a great note,” Reynolds added. “She watched it, and I’m not kidding, [she said], ‘You need to do this.’ And damn it, if she wasn’t like spot on.”

Ye and Ty Dolla $ign took over South Korea’s Goyang Stadium for a Vultures 2 listening party on Friday (Aug. 23), and West gave the thousands of Korean fans in attendance a special treat with a solo set spanning his entire discography.

Yeezy even picked up the mic and rapped along to his greatest-hits medley, which boasted more than 70 tracks in total and featured everything from “Stronger” to “Runaway” and “Famous.”

At various points, Ye was prefacing his anthems with some shout-outs, and his on-and-off enemy Drake was on the receiving end of one ahead of Graduation‘s “I Wonder.”

“This one for Drake. This one for Ian Connor,” Ye said. Connor is a fashion designer who has faced a myriad of sexual assault allegations.

Some thought West was trolling Drake — since they don’t appear to be on good terms, but Drizzy is actually a huge fan of the poignant 2007 track. The 6 God posted lyrics quoting “I Wonder” alongside a photo with Ye following their 2021 Larry Hoover Benefit Concert at the L.A. Coliseum.

Jay-Z and some of his Roc-A-Fella associates were on the receiving end of a shout-out while West took it back to the 2000s for “Diamonds From Sierra Leone.”

“This for Hov right here,” he saluted his Watch the Throne partner with the Late Registration instrumental playing. “This for Dame. Everybody put your diamonds in the sky one time. This for [Kareem Burke] Biggs. This for [Kyambo Joshua] Hip-Hop, this for Gee Roberson, this for Lenny S, this for Beanie Sigel, this for Memphis Bleek.”

West wasn’t going to leave without taking a few shots at his former partner Adidas. He had the 40,000 in the audience join him in a “F— Adidas” chant before moving into his rebellious “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” banger. The Graduation track reached No. 41 on the Billboard Hot 100. “Ay hold on, hold on. Korea, y’all gotta help me with this. Say f— Adidas,” he said before repeating as the crowd’s chants got louder. “Don’t play with me!”

The Chicago-bred rapper seemed to be more inspired to pick up the mic and rap along to his catalog rather than the traditional Vultures listening experiences which see Ye and Ty Dolla $ign play the recorded versions of tracks over the venue’s speaker.

The Vultures duo was set to remain in Asia and perform in Taiwan over the weekend, but the performance has been canceled for reasons that remain unknown. Yeezy Chief of Staff Eric Cui claimed it was “out of their control.” Vultures 2 arrived Aug. 3 and debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, with 107,000 album units sold in the first week.

The $2.3 billion sale of ASM Global, the facility management firm that manages venues like Soldier Field in Chicago and the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, finally closed today, a full 10 months after it was announced that Legends was purchasing the firm from AEG and Canadian private equity firm Onex. The lengthy delay was the result of a U.S. Department of Justice investigation into Legends for allegedly violating anti-trust regulations during its review of the deal, recently disclosed documents show, which led to Legends paying a $3.5 million civil fine.

According to court records in the Southern District of New York — the same court where Live Nation is fighting a historic antitrust case against the DOJ — officials with Legends allegedly “assumed unlawful control over ASM” during a statutory waiting period that required “Legends and ASM to continue to operate as separate and independent entities while the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice reviewed the acquisition.”

Related

According to a DOJ complaint, Legends won the right to manage a new arena project in San Diego that had been formerly managed by ASM Global. After winning the contract, Legends assigned some of the responsibility of the contract to ASM, despite not having completed the pre-merger review or received approval from the DOJ.

In August 2023, Legends officials again allegedly violated DOJ rules that the two firms act as separate companies when they bid for a contract in North Carolina to manage an existing entertainment complex. According to the DOJ complaint, “a senior Legends executive emailed Legends’ then-CEO noting, ‘I assume we would rather have ASM chase this?’ The then-CEO informed another executive, ‘we will find out if ASM is bidding as don’t want to both be bidding,’ and set a calendar reminder for himself to
speak with a senior ASM executive about the North Carolina RFP.” The DOJ alleges that Legends and ASM also illegally shared information on two other projects they were bidding for.

Legends was accused of violating the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976 and agreed to pay a $3.5 million fine, “an amount that is less than the maximum penalty permitted,” government documents reveal, noting “a lower penalty is appropriate because of Legends’ demonstrated willingness to take corrective internal action and fight allegations in court, avoiding “the costs associated with a prolonged investigation and litigation.”

Under the agreement, Legends must “appoint an antitrust compliance officer at its expense, to conduct compliance training, to certify compliance with the Final Judgment, to maintain a whistleblower protection policy, and to provide the United States inspection and interview rights to assess compliance with the Final Judgment,” the documents read.

The sale of ASM Global to Legends got rolling last year after Canadian private equity firm Onex notified AEG of its plans to sell its 35% stake in ASM. Instead of buying out Onex, AEG agreed to put the entire company up for sale. On Nov. 3, Onex and AEG jointly announced that Legends was buying ASM, creating the country’s leading venue management company.

Representatives for Legends and ASM Global did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

“The next era of Legends starts now,” said Dan Levy, CEO of Legends, in a press release issued Friday (Aug. 23). Global investment firm Sixth Streets owns majority control of Legends, with minority stakes held by subsidiaries of the New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys. Levy, who previously worked at Meta, became CEO of Legends in April.

Ron Bension, ASM Global president/CEO, added, “One of our ASM Global mantras for a number of years has been ‘the future is now.’ By joining Legends, that future has not only arrived, but it couldn’t be brighter. The opportunities created by our companies’ collective capabilities will elevate not only the success of our partners, clients, and projects worldwide, but the industry as a whole.”

Founded in 2008, Legends now has 400 clients under management including Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Caesars Superdome in New Orleans and OVO Arena Wembley in London. ASM Global will continue to operate under its current name for now.

Moelis & Company LLC and BofA Securities, Inc. served as financial advisors to Legends, while Ropes & Gray LLP and Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP served as its legal counsel. Goldman Sachs and Jefferies served as financial advisors to ASM Global, while Latham & Watkins LLP, Hogan Lovells and Arnold & Porter served as its legal counsel.

With the help of surprise guest Ed Sheeran, Niall Horan threw his fans back to the early 2010s at his concert in Dublin on Friday (Aug. 23).

In clips captured by ecstatic concertgoers at Royal Hospital Kilmainham, the two musicians strum acoustic guitars while harmonizing on One Direction’s “Little Things” — which the “Shape of You” artist wrote for Horan’s former group in 2012 — as well as Sheeran’s 2011 hit “Lego House.” “You’ll never love yourself half as much as I love you,” they sang softly, sans Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson. “And you’ll never treat yourself right, darling, but I want you to.”

Both romantic ballads were hits on the Billboard Hot 100 back in their heyday, with 1D’s recording of the song reaching No. 33 in 2013. “Lego House,” a single from Sheeran’s debut album +, hit No. 42 on the chart that same year.

The performance comes amid the back half of Horan’s headlining tour in support of his 2023 album The Show, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. The global trek kicked off in February with two shows in Belfast and will end Oct. 9 in Bogotá, Colombia, after which the “Slow Hands” singer will have performed all across Europe, Asia, North America and Latin America.

Sheeran is also currently touring through Europe, with his next show slated for Saturday in Romania. Sheeran’s most recent albums, and Autumn Variations, both released in 2023, peaked at Nos. 2 and 4 on the Billboard 200, respectively.

Watch clips of Sheeran and Horan’s duets in Dublin below.

Sabrina Carpenter dropped her sixth studio album, Short n’ Sweet, on Friday (Aug. 23), and fans already have theories about some of the songs — including a love triangle between herself, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello.

It all started when Carpenter and Mendes were spotted spending time together in February 2023, a year after the “In My Blood” singer split from Cabello in November 2021. Just two months later, Cabello and Mendes were spotted rekindling their romance at Coachella.

Following the release of Short n’ Sweet, fans noticed that some of the lyrics on the album seemingly refer to the situation. “Your car drove itself from L.A. to her thighs/ Palm Springs looks nice, but who’s by your side?/ Damn it, she looks kinda like the girl you outgrew/ Least that’s what you said,” she sings on “Coincidence.”

A number of other songs also follow a story in which the guy she is interested in goes back to his ex-girlfriend. “We never talk about how you/ Found God at your ex’s house, always/ Made sure that the phone was face-down/ Seems like overnight, I’m just the b—- you hate now,” she sings in “Sharpest Tool.”

Then, came the music video for “Taste,” in which Carpenter follows the same theme when she sings, “I heard you’re back together and if that’s true/ You’ll just have to taste me when he’s kissin’ you.” The corresponding, Death Becomes Her-inspired visual stars Jenna Ortega, who fans think was casted to represent Cabello in the clip, as they are both 5′ 2″ Latina brunettes. The video finds the duo finding ways to kill each other, before ultimately coming together to take down the man they both dated.

Of course, none of this is confirmed and remain just theories, but we’ve compiled some fan thoughts on social media, which you can check out below.

AP Dhillon’s new major label deal is off to a good start.

The Punjabi-Canadian artist’s first single on Republic Records, released “in alliance with” Universal Music Canada, has debuted at No. 53 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100.

“Old Money” is a catchy and replayable mix song with lyrics that translate to something reminiscent of post-breakthrough Drake: “Every girl wants to know how I’m doing / ever since they realized my worth.”

Related

But what elevates the song into full blockbuster is its music video, which reunites two major movie stars for a cinematic homage to the ’90s action films from India that Dhillon grew up watching. Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt star in the video alongside Dhillon and his longtime collaborator Shinda Kahlon in an epic and bloody short film complete with car-chases and gunfights (it ends with the message, “Say no to violence”).

Dhillon isn’t the only star from India making moves on the Canadian Hot 100. “Big Dawgs” from Hanumankind and Kalmi moves into the top 10 this week, hitting No. 9 at the same time it also hits No. 9 on the Global 200 and No. 8 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart. Punjabi-Canadian artist Karan Aujla‘s debut Bollywood soundtrack single “Tauba Tauba” also holds on the Canadian Hot 100 at No. 81. The Punjabi Wave is in full force.

Former Just For Laughs Executive Christine Melko Ross Joins Live Entertainment Company Outback Presents

A former executive at Just For Laughs is taking her expertise to another major live entertainment promoter.

Christine Melko Ross will be the new senior vp of global operations at Nashville-based Outback Presents, taking charge of expanding the company’s Canadian footprint.

Melko Ross was with Just for Laughs (JFL) for 23 years, before the Montreal comedy company filed for creditor protection earlier this year to avoid bankruptcy and laid off the majority of its staff. At JFL, Melko Ross helped launch the Toronto edition of the Just for Laughs festival, built up the company’s touring division, and was integral to its flagship Montreal festival’s operations.

In Canada, Outback isn’t as high-profile as a comedy brand, but the company placed No. 6 on Billboard‘s year-end Box Score promoters list for 2023 and is handling upcoming tours from comedians like Shane Gillis, Bill Burr and Jim Gaffigan.

Related

Melko Ross tells Billboard Canada she’s excited to help Outback grow its presence in Canada, and not just in major markets like Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary.

“Canadians love to laugh so we want to make sure that they’re entertained from coast to coast,” she says. “There’s lots of opportunity to do things in smaller places.” She highlights cities like Victoria and Regina and emphasizes that the Maritimes are often overlooked by touring acts.

“They’re great audiences — Halifax has five universities in it. That’s a growing market.”

It’s a tricky time for the live performance industry. Many festivals and venues, JFL amongst them, are facing existential threats from a combination of factors: lost revenue during the pandemic, rising overhead costs, and audiences that are slow to get back in their seats.

But Melko Ross says comedy fans have been coming to shows in droves.

“I think it’s gonna continue growing,” she adds. “I do think that that’s one area of the arts that has been very strong.”

JFL itself was revived in a smaller form this summer when Quebec comedy company ComediHa! acquired its assets. The new owner put on a renamed edition of the festival featuring Dane Cook and Bassem Youssef.

“It’s a brand that many of us hold dear to our heart, so hopefully the spirit of that remains,” Melko Ross says of JFL. – Rosie Long Decter

Sabrina Carpenter’s long-awaited new album ‘Short N’ Sweet’ is here! The singer also dropped a music video for her new track “Taste,” which co-stars Jenna Ortega. Keep watching for more!

Tetris Kelly:
Today is all about Sabrina Carpenter — a new album, a video that people are speculating is about Shawn and Camila, support from Taylor Swift and more. This is Music You Should Know: Sabrina Carpenter Edition.

Sabrina Carpenter:
I called it ‘Short N’ Sweet’ for multiple reasons. Like, it was not because I’m vertically challenged. It was really like I thought about some of these relationships and how some of them were the shortest I’ve ever had, and they affected me the most.

Tetris Kelly:
Sabrina got honest with Zane Lowe about the meaning of her brand-new album, ‘Short N’ Sweet.’ It’s got the massive hits “Espresso” and “Please Please Please.”

Taylor Swift is even telling you to go support, saying her ‘Short N’ Sweet’ friend made an extraordinary album. But what’s got everybody talking is the video for “Taste.”

It stars Jenna Ortega and is quite the production. Fans are speculating online that the video is about a love triangle between her, Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes, with Shawn being the problem. Are you buying the fan theories? Let’s talk about it in the comments.
