Kali Uchis scores her first No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart (dated Jan. 27), as Orquídeas arrives atop the list with her biggest sales week ever – 31,000 copies sold in the U.S. in the week ending Jan. 18, according to Luminate. Of that sum, vinyl sales accounted for 20,000 – marking the largest week for a Spanish-language album on vinyl since Luminate began tracking sales in 1991. The effort also launches at No. 1 on the Vinyl Albums ranking, No. 1 on Top Latin Albums (her first leader there) and starts at a career-high No. 2 on the Billboard 200.
Elsewhere in the top 10 of the new Top Album Sales chart, Jimin’s former No. 1 FACE re-enters at No. 4 following its vinyl release and Kid Cudi’s new album Insano starts at No. 5.
Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart ranks the top-selling albums of the week based only on traditional album sales. The chart’s history dates back to May 25, 1991, the first week Billboard began tabulating charts with electronically monitored piece count information from SoundScan, now Luminate. Pure album sales were the sole measurement utilized by the Billboard 200 albums chart through the list dated Dec. 6, 2014, after which that chart switched to a methodology that blends album sales with track equivalent album units and streaming equivalent album units. All of Billboard’s new Jan. 27, 2024-dated charts will be posted in full on Billboard‘s website on Jan. 23. For all chart news, follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram.
Of the 31,000 copies sold of Orquídeas, physical sales comprise 30,000 (20,000 on vinyl, 10,000 on CD and negligible sum on cassette) and digital download album sales comprise 1,000. Its sales were bolstered by its availability across seven vinyl variants and four CD editions, including exclusive versions sold through independent record stores, Target, Urban Outfitters and the artist’s webstore.
Six Taylor Swift albums populate the top 10, all former No. 1s, led by Folklore, which pushes 3-2 with 19,000 (up 92%, owed to a replenishment of CD stock at retail). 1989 (Taylor’s Version) falls 1-3 (13,000; down 20%), Midnights dips 2-6 (8,000; down 29%), Lover descends 5-8 (7,000; down 28%), Evermore falls 7-9 (6,000; down 8%) and Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) drops 6-10 (5,000; down 25%).
Jimin’s FACE re-enters at No. 4 with nearly 10,000 sold (up 3,501%) following the set’s release on vinyl. It sold 8,000 copies on vinyl in the week ending Jan. 18, and enters at No. 2 on the Vinyl Albums chart. FACE was issued in only one vinyl edition, and included a photo book, postcard and photocard inside its packaging.
Kid Cudi scores his sixth top 10-charting effort on Top Album Sales, as his latest studio album Insano starts at No. 5 with 8,500 sold. Of that sum, physical sales comprise 7,000 (about 5,500 on vinyl and 1,500 on CD) and digital downloads comprise 1,500. The album’s sales were enhanced by its availability across four vinyl variants and four CD editions.
Stray Kids’ chart-topping ROCK-STAR falls 4-7 on Top Album Sales, with nearly 8,000 sold (down 19%).
In the week ending Jan. 18, there were 1.083 million albums sold in the U.S. (down 9.3% compared to the previous week). Of that sum, physical albums (CDs, vinyl LPs, cassettes, etc.) comprised 822,000 (down 12.1%) and digital albums comprised 261,000 (down 0.6%).
There were 370,000 CD albums sold in the week ending Jan. 18 (down 15.7 week-over-week) and 449,000 vinyl albums sold (down 8.8%). Year-to-date CD album sales stand at 1.316 (down 27.2% compared to the same time frame a year ago) and year-to-date vinyl album sales total 1.566 million (down 45.9%).
Overall year-to-date album sales total 3.694 million (down 35.5% compared to the same year-to-date time frame a year ago). Year-to-date physical album sales stand at 2.895 million (down 38.8%) and digital album sales total 799,000 (down 19.5%).

The Kansas City Chiefs are Swifties!
Tight end Jordy Fortson Jr. took to his Instagram Stories over the weekend to post a video singing along to Taylor Swift’s 1989 hit, “Bad Blood,” in celebration of his team’s playoff win against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday (Jan. 21).
The song choice is fitting, as Swift was in attendance at the game supporting her boyfriend, tight end Travis Kelce.
Swift — who’s been spending many of her weekends cheering on Travis, tight end for the Chiefs — also brought a couple of her friends to the game in Buffalo: Cara Delevigne and Ashley Avignone. Last weekend Swift braved the cold in below-zero temperatures in Kansas City.
In just weeks Swift will resume her Eras Tour, starting with performances in Tokyo from Feb. 7-10 before she heads to Australia and Singapore.
Tommy Newport is a newcomer to not just the Billboard Hot 100, but all Billboard charts, thanks to his guest appearance on 21 Savage’s “Red Sky.”
The track, also with Mikky Ekko, debuts at No. 57 on the latest Jan. 27-dated Hot 100 with 8.4 million official U.S. streams in its opening week (Jan. 12-18), according to Luminate. It also starts at No. 21 on Hot Rap Songs, No. 24 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and No. 34 on the all-genre Streaming Songs chart.
“Red Sky” is from 21 Savage’s new LP American Dream, released via Slaughter Gang/Epic Records. It debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 133,000 equivalent album units, becoming his fourth chart-topping set.
Tommy Newport (real name: Oliver Milmine), born in Manchester, England, and raised in Wichita, Kan., has released two solo studio albums in his career: Just To Be Ironic, in 2018, and Glasshead, in February 2023—both on Real Dirty Boy/Silk Ivory. Outside of 21 Savage, he has collaborated with Jazz Cartier (“Jackpot”) and EARTHGANG (“Stargazer”).
Newport, who released his new single “Secret Place” on Friday (Jan. 18), concurrently debuts at No. 35 on the Emerging Artists chart.
As previously reported, all 14 chart-eligible songs from 21 Savage’s American Dream enter the Hot 100, including two in the top 10: “Redrum,” at No. 5, and “Née-nah,” with Travis Scott and Metro Boomin, at No. 10. The debuts up 21 Savage’s total to 103 career Hot 100-charting hits—he becomes just the 16th artist to amass 100 entries or more over the chart’s 65-year history.
Six days after announcing Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo as the first performers set for the 2024 Grammy Awards, CBS announced three more performers: Travis Scott, Luke Combs and Burna Boy. These bookings bring gender, genre and racial diversity to Music’s Biggest Night.
The announcement was made during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s NFL football game (Kansas City vs. Buffalo), just as last week’s performer announcement was made during the fourth quarter of the AFC wild-card game. Both games were broadcast on CBS, which has aired the Grammys since 1973.
All three of the newly-added performers are current Grammy nominees. Scott is nominated for best rap album for Utopia. He was also nominated in that category for his previous studio album, Astroworld. Scott has amassed 10 nominations. He has yet to win.
Combs is nominated for best country solo performance for his version of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car.” Chapman performed the song as the final performance of the night on the Grammy telecast in February 1989, so there may be reason to hope the Grammys can land a collaborative performance on this year’s show. This is Combs’ seventh nomination. He too has yet to win. He was nominated for best new artist five years ago, but lost to Lipa. (Both artists have done exceptionally well in the ensuing five years.)
Burna Boy is nominated in four categories – best global music album (I Told Them…), best African music performance (“City Boys”), best global music performance (“Alone”), and best melodic rap performance (“Sittin’ on Top of the World”). He won best global music album three years ago for Twice as Tall.

Additional performers will be announced in the two weeks leading up to the Feb. 4 ceremony.
Trevor Noah will host the Grammys for the fourth consecutive year. He too is a Grammy nominee. He is up for best comedy album for I Wish You Would. He’s the first Grammy host to be nominated for a Grammy that same year since Queen Latifah in 2005. Noah won a Primetime Emmy last week for outstanding talk series for The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.
The 66th annual Grammy Awards will be held on Sunday, Feb. 4 from 8:00-11:30 p.m. live ET/5:00-8:30 p.m. live PT on CBS and will stream live and on-demand on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the special airs).
The telecast will be produced by Fulwell 73 Productions for the Recording Academy for the fourth consecutive year. Ben Winston, Raj Kapoor and Jesse Collins are executive producers.
Taylor Swift’s townhouse in New York City appears to have been the target of another break-in attempt, this time by a man who was arrested near the singer’s Tribeca home Saturday (Jan. 20) as police responded to a report of a disorderly person.
Witnesses said the man tried but failed to enter the townhouse in the early afternoon, the New York Post reported.
Police would not confirm a break-in attempt at Swift’s home, but officers arrested a man on the same street when they were told he tried to open a door to a building, an NYPD spokesperson said Sunday. The man was charged on an unrelated 2017 warrant out of Brooklyn for allegedly failing to answer a summons, the spokesperson said.
Authorities did not release the man’s name.
An email seeking comment was sent Sunday to a representative for the “Anti-Hero” singer. It wasn’t clear if she was at the home at the time. She traveled Sunday to the Buffalo, New York, area, where her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, was set to play against the Buffalo Bills in an NFL playoff game in the evening.
The Tribeca townhouse has been the scene of several other break-ins and attempts when Swift wasn’t there, including some by alleged stalkers.
In 2022, a man was charged with trespassing and stalking after authorities said he entered two Tribeca residences linked to Swift. Also that year, a man was arrested for crashing a car into the townhouse and reportedly told police he wouldn’t leave until he met with Swift.
In 2018, another man broke into her townhouse and took a nap, police said. The same man was charged a year later with another break-in at the building after serving a jail sentence.
Police say alleged stalkers have also been arrested at some of her other homes, including ones in Beverly Hills, California, and Watch Hill, Rhode Island.
Taylor Swift and the Kelce family were seen watching the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Buffalo Bills game together in the Buffalo metropolitan area in Orchard Park, New York, Sunday night (Jan. 21).
Swift wore a unique Gant varsity jacket in Chiefs colors, with stars drawn at the coat’s pockets, and a red winter beanie in support of boyfriend Travis Kelce at the NFL playoff game.
When Swift was briefly on camera during the CBS broadcast of the game, she was at one point referred to as the “MVP” — the “Most Valuable Princess of Chiefs Kingdom.”
In other videos from Highmark Stadium that made their way to social media, the pop star was shown hanging out with Travis’ brother, the Philadelphia Eagles’ Jason Kelce, and Jason’s wife, Kylie. Travis and Jason’s parents, Donna and Ed, were also by their side in the suite they shared.
Swift — who’s been spending her weekends cheering on Travis, tight end for the Chiefs — also brought a couple of her friends to the game in Buffalo: Cara Delevigne and Ashley Avignone. Last weekend Swift braved the cold in below-zero temperatures in Kansas City.
At Sunday’s game, Swifties were apparently in for a tasty treat, as it was reported that there would be menu items inspired by the singer at the stadium, provided by the Bills’ food service partner, Delaware North. Food options included “Bad Blood” Waffle Fries and the “Karma” Quesadilla.
In just weeks Swift will resume her Eras Tour, starting with performances in Tokyo from Feb. 7-10 before she heads to Australia and Singapore.
Her latest album release, 1989 (Taylor’s Version), recently surpassed two million in sales.
