A paparazzo is suingKanye West over an alleged incident in which the rapper grabbed her phone and threw it into traffic, according to court documents obtained by Billboard.
Photographer Nichol Lechmanik is suing West (sometimes known as Ye) for assault, battery, negligence and interference with the exercise of her civil rights following the alleged altercation, which occurred on the afternoon of Jan. 27 outside Sports Academy in Newbury Park, Calif., per the complaint filed in California Superior Court in Ventura County on Wednesday (May 31).

Lechmanik alleges that while driving her car and filming Ye’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian as she exited the facility, she noticed that West was “angrily confronting” another photographer on the street outside. “Given Defendant Ye’s reputation for violence against photographers, his history of physically harming them, and based on his threatening body language, Plaintiff became fearful for the photographer’s safety,” the complaint reads. It states that Lechmanik then began filming the incident on her phone from inside her car with the window open.
Lechmanik alleges that Ye then walked up to her car and “aggressively” said, “You all ain’t gonna run up on me like that,” and when she replied that she wasn’t, he became “enraged,” reached into her car and “ripped her phone out of her hands” before throwing it “onto the street towards oncoming traffic.”
According to the lawsuit, Lechmanik said the incident caused her “great mental, and emotional pain and suffering” and that she “anticipates incurring medical and related expenses.”
Lechmanik is requesting general and special damages, punitive and exemplary damages, civil penalties and costs of the suit. Additionally, she’s asking for an order enjoining West and “all persons acting in concert with him or acting on his behalf, from touching, striking, annoying, contacting, molesting, attacking, threatening, or otherwise interfering with…the Plaintiff, and all persons similarly situated, to pursue the occupation of photographer.”
West has a long history of legal scuffles with paparazzi that stem all the way back to 2008 when he was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport after breaking the flash of a paparazzo’s camera.

The African Giant makes a triumphant return nearly a year after he released his sixth studio album Love, Damini on July 8, 2022, which peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard 200 and received a 2023 Grammy nomination for best global music album. And after his hit single “Last Last” soundtracked all of last summer, “Sittin’ on Top of the World” aims to do the same for the summer of 2023. It’s been 20 years since Linkin Park rocked the music world with their 2003 hit “Numb,” and this week, the emotionally charged music video hit 2 billion views on YouTube. It’s the band’s first clip to achieve the impressive milestone.
The “Numb” music video hit one billion views back in 2018, a year after fans launched an unofficial campaign following the death of frontman Chester Bennington on July 20, 2017, to help push the video to the one billion view mark.
The song was Linkin Park’s third single off their 2003 sophomore album, Meteora. “Numb” topped Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart, as did other enduring hits from the project, including “Breaking the Habit,” “Faint,” “Somewhere I Belong” and “Lying From You.”
The album got a 20th Anniversary Edition release back in April, featuring multiple previously unreleased songs, in addition to demos, live shows, B-sides and previously unaired footage with the band.

It may be Bizarrap‘s 55th music session, but it’s his first one with Mexican superstar Peso Pluma and, as expected, the collaboration between the two hitmakers is fire.
“BZRP Music Sessions” with Peso Pluma dropped Wednesday (May 31) to much anticipation as to what Peso would rap or sing about in his session with the Argentine producer.
Peso Pluma chose heartbreak for his topic, singing about getting over an ex. He sings over his signature corridos sound powered by requintos and trombones. It’s the first time Bizarrap has recorded Mexican music, but toward the end you hear more of Bizarrap’s urban-house influence.

On Tuesday, Bizarrap took to social media to confirm that his music session guest would be chart-topping artist Peso Pluma. In a two-minute animated video, Biza is featured as a rat in his studio wearing his signature dark glasses and baseball cap.
In the clip, Bizarrap appears to be building a guitar out of a walnut shell. But he’s missing a few things to build a trombone, so he steps out from his studio into a home only to get chased around by a broom. He ends up getting saved by a Mexican rat with cowboy boots and a haircut that belongs to none other than Peso Pluma.
The “Por Las Noches” singer — who currently has 12 songs on the Billboard Global 200 (including two top 10 hits) — joins an elite list of artists who have collaborated with the Argentine producer, including Shakira, Arcángel, Nicky Jam, Nicki Nicole and Residente, to name a few.
His Shakira music session — released in January — became an anthem for women around the world. In it, the Colombian star doesn’t hold back and is as blunt as ever about her ex, Spanish soccer star Gerard Piqué. Their “BZRP Music Sessions #53” peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. The dis track also broke a handful of Guinness World Records and now holds the title for most streamed Latin track on Spotify in 24 hours (14.4 million streams) and most viewed Latin track on YouTube in 24 hours (63 million views), to name a few.
