Zayn Is Just Happy Fans ‘Still Give a Sh–‘ About His Music: Watch Exclusive Preview of ‘Call Her Daddy’ Sit-Down

Zayn Malik is gearing up to release his fifth solo album, Konnakol — but in his upcoming interview on Call Her Daddy, he revealed that he’s still mind-blown he even got to make his prior four LPs in the first place.

In a preview of the podcast episode — which Billboard is exclusively premiering Tuesday (Feb. 10) before the episode’s Wednesday morning premiere — the One Direction alum shares what he’s proudest of going into his next solo era. In his words: “Honestly, the fact that people still give a sh–.”

“Five solo albums now — I was just buzzing that I got to do the first one after [leaving] the band, [and] people seemed to care,” he continues in conversation with host Alex Cooper. “I’m really proud of the progression and just the development and understanding of myself through my music.”

As announced Feb. 4, Konnakol will arrive April 17, complete with 15 tracks. Its lead single, “Die for Me,” dropped two days after the album news.

The new era comes a decade after Malik first burst onto the pop scene as a soloist after departing 1D in 2015. His debut effort as a one-man show, Mind of Mine, peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, after which the singer released Icarus Falls, Nobody Is Listening and Room Under the Stairs.

With Konnakol, Malik hopes fans “get more insight on maybe my culture and heritage,” he tells Cooper on Call Her Daddy in the exclusive clip.

The U.K.-born musician is of Pakistani descent and was raised Muslim by his parents. The word “Konnakol,” which Malik used for his fifth album’s title, is a “vocal percussion technique used in South Indian Carnatic music, where complex rhythmic patterns are spoken aloud using specific syllables,” according to Forbes.

Beyond the new album, Malik’s podcast appearance also comes ahead of his 31-date Konnakol arena tour through the U.K. and North and South America. To gear up for the trek, he recently closed out a seven-night residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas.

He’s also not the only former One Direction member who’s been dropping music as of late. In January, Harry Styles returned from a four-year break in releases to unleash “Aperture,” his third Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit. That same month, Louis Tomlinson unveiled How Did I Get Here?, securing a No. 1 slot on the U.K. albums chart.

No Joke: Adam Sandler to Receive ASCAP Founders Songwriting Award at 2026 ASCAP Experience

Adam Sandler has received numerous awards for comedy, most notably the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2023. On Thursday, he’ll be honored for his songwriting.

Sandler, 59, is set to receive the ASCAP Founders Award, which is presented to songwriters and composers who have made pioneering contributions to music by inspiring and influencing their fellow music creators, according to ASCAP.

The award has previously gone to the likes of Sir Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Tom Petty, Patti Smith, Stephen Schwartz, Dr. Dre, Carly Simon, Billy Joel, Tom Waits, Elmer Bernstein, Jeff Lynne, Diane Warren, Quincy Jones, Neil Young and Elvis Costello.

The award will recognize Sandler’s contributions to music and songwriting across comedy, film and popular culture. Sandler will accept the award at the 2026 ASCAP Experience, a full day of panels, workshops and performances, which will be held Thursday (Feb. 12) at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles.

“Adam is a giant of comedy, and so many of his most hilarious onscreen moments are based in music and song,” ASCAP chairman of the board and president Paul Williams said in a statement. “From Opera Man to ‘The Chanukah Song’ to ‘Grow Old With You,’ Adam’s genius ability to seamlessly blend comedy and music helps us all appreciate the wonders and absurdities of life and love. ASCAP is honored to recognize Adam Sandler for his singular contributions to the comedy music canon.”

An ASCAP member for 33 years, Sandler has made his mark on comedy and music with nearly 450 ASCAP-registered works ranging from amusing ballads to playful sing-alongs. His 1995 classic “The Chanukah Song,” recorded live at UC Santa Barbara, reached No. 10 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 Airplay chart. His 1996 follow-up, “The Thanksgiving Song,” also cracked that chart.

From his famous SNL classics like “Lunchlady Land” and “Red Hooded Sweatshirt” to newer songs like his heartfelt tribute to Chris Farley in his 2019 Netflix special 100% Fresh, no Sandler sketch is complete without a song.

Sandler has released six albums, three of which received Grammy nominations for best spoken comedy album: They’re All Gonna Laugh at You!, What the Hell Happened to Me? and Stan and Judy’s Kid.

Sandler’s songs are also featured in several of his hit films including The Wedding Singer (“Grow Old With You”), 50 First Dates (“Forgetful Lucy”), The Meyerowitz Stories (“Genius Girl”) and Eight Crazy Nights (“The Chanukah Song, Part 3”).

Simply the Best: Tina Turner Kit for St. Louis’ MLS Team Unveiled

St. Louis CITY SC, the fourth-year Major League Soccer team, has unveiled a unique “Tina Turner Kit,” a first-of-its-kind collaboration with sporting giant adidas that pays tribute to the two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee — and to the city that helped shape her. The club’s tribute marks adidas’ first‑ever kit collab with a female music artist in global sport, according to the announcement.

Born Anna Mae Bullock in Nutbush, Tenn., Turner arrived in St. Louis at 16, settling in The Ville neighborhood and graduating from Sumner High before diving into the city’s vibrant R&B scene. It was in local clubs like Club Manhattan where she first met Ike Turner and, in a pivotal 1957 moment, grabbed a microphone during an intermission — a choice that ultimately led to the Ike & Tina Turner Revue and her rise to stardom. Though her early career was marked by personal hardship, St. Louis remained the birthplace of her artistic identity.

The team said on Tuesday that the new kit was designed to capture the energy of Turner’s iconic stage presence. The gold jersey echoes the shimmer of her signature fringed minidresses, with her silhouette stamped in metallic gold on the tag and her signature in “CITY Red” as a nod to her distinctive lipstick and nails.

The kit, created with adidas, Turner’s estate, BMG and Warner Music Group, will serve as CITY’s secondary jersey for the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

“St. Louis is a homecoming for Tina,” said Erwin Bach, Turner’s husband. “It’s where she first felt the thrill of the stage and the joy of performing.”

To further honor Turner, who died in 2023 at age 83, the club has organized a slate of cultural events, headlined by Eternal: A Tribute to Tina Turner — a one‑night‑only concert on Feb. 15 featuring Grammy winner Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes performing with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra at the newly renovated Powell Hall.

“Tina Turner has inspired me since I was a child. Her spirit and her strength are reflected in her songs, which have shaped my own sound and my journey as an artist,” said Howard. “Joining St. Louis CITY SC and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra in honoring her is personal for me. I am thrilled to celebrate Tina and her lasting legacy that continues resound today.”

Joining the tribute is STL native and The Voice finalist Kennedy Holmes, along with a lineup of acclaimed vocalists, including Tamika Lawrence and Shaleah Adkisson, performing orchestral arrangements of Turner’s greatest hits under the direction of Stéphane Denève and guest conductor Anthony Parnther.

The celebration extends beyond the pitch with a Tina Turner Pop‑up Shop at City Foundry, where fans can buy the new jersey and view items from Turner’s personal collection — including wardrobe pieces and Grammy Awards (she won eight of them). Running Feb. 11–20, the pop‑up is part of a broader tribute that also includes a new Tina‑focused music education program created with COCA, a local arts organization, that will introduce kids and young adults to her repertoire through music instruction and choreography inspired by her performances, funded in part by proceeds from Tina Turner Kit sales.

Festivities culminate on Tina Turner Night at CITY SC’s home match on Aug. 22.

Wasserman Fallout: Every Artist Who Has Spoken Out Over Founder’s Epstein Ties

On Thursday (Feb. 5), Best Coast frontwoman Bethany Cosentino was the first artist signed to the powerful Wasserman agency to speak out over revelations that its founder and CEO, Casey Wasserman, had carried on a flirtatious relationship with convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell — the main accomplice of convicted child sex predator Jeffrey Epstein — after the latest tranche of 3 million files in the Epstein case was released. Among other things, Cosentino called for Wasserman to step down from his post and for the agency to change its name.

Since Cosentino’s Instagram post went live, several more artists — mainly indie acts — have responded to the controversy. Though these responses have varied somewhat, most have either announced their exit from the agency over the revelations or seemingly threatened to leave if Wasserman isn’t held accountable for his actions. Nearly all have expressed support for their agents. On Monday evening (Feb. 9), Chappell Roan became the first major star to speak out on the issue, writing that she had left the agency amid the growing outrage (without explicity mentioning Epstein or Maxwell).

The growing number of artist defections is now continuing to snowball into a major issue for Wasserman and his namesake agency, which represents such superstars as Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, SZA, Noah Kahan, Lorde and Kenny Chesney. Will any of those other big acts follow Roan’s lead?

Jack Harlow Announces ‘Monica’ Album Release Date & Reveals Cover Art

Jack Harlow has a birthday gift for his fans this year. The Louisville native announced Tuesday (Feb. 10) that his fourth studio album, Monica, is set to arrive March 13, which is Harlow’s 28th birthday.

“Monica. My new album. Available everywhere on my birthday, March 13th,” Harlow wrote on Instagram.

The post was accompanied by the LP’s cover art, which features a motion-blurred image of the “Lovin on Me” rapper with his eyes shut while rocking a pair of shades and a brown cap tilted to the side.

Fans excitedly hopped into the comments, welcoming the return of Missionary Jack, while others wondered who exactly Monica might be. Former NFL star Victor Cruz and New York Knicks big man Karl-Anthony Towns hyped the announcement with emoji comments as well.

The sonic direction of Harlow’s next endeavor remains unclear, but a press release reveals that the 27-year-old recorded the album at the famed Electric Lady Studios in New York City following his move to the Big Apple. Plenty of music legends have made Electric Lady home during their careers, including Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Stevie Wonder.

It’s possible Harlow’s time recording at Electric Lady overlapped with Lorde when she was working on Virgin. During an Apple Music interview with Zane Lowe last year, Lorde recalled Harlow being wowed by her songwriting after playing the album for him.

“Jack Harlow was working at Electric Lady when we were there towards the end of the record and somehow ended up getting most of the album played to him,” she explained. “It was a very funny, cool link. He’s such a sweetheart. But he was like, ‘Your bars are… These are bars!’ I was like, ‘Your words, not mine.’”

While Monica will arrive March 13, vinyl pre-orders are now available to order the LP on Harlow’s website.

Harlow has remained quiet on the music side for the better part of a year, as his most recent single, “Just Us,” was released last March, featuring an assist from Doja Cat.

It’s been nearly three years since Jack Harlow’s last album. Harlow released Jackman in April 2023, which reached the top 10 of the Billboard 200 (No. 8).

Gracie Abrams Slams ‘Demonic’ Removal of Pride Flag From Stonewall Under President Trump Directive

Gracie Abrams has made her opinion clear when it comes to the recent removal of the Pride flag from Stonewall Monument in New York City.

On Tuesday (Feb. 10), the singer/songwriter reshared comedian Benito Skinner’s post about the matter on her Instagram Story. Skinner had amplified a New York Times article on the removal of the flag under a Donald Trump administration directive and wrote one word to sum up what he thought about it, with which Abrams agreed: “Demonic.”

The musician’s post comes one day after employees of the Stonewall Inn — the Greenwich Village bar known as the origin point of the LGBTQ rights movement — first noticed that the Pride flag was missing from the federally owned Stonewall Monument out front, according to NYT. Weeks prior, the Department of the Interior had issued a federal guidance about not displaying “non-agency” flags in the National Park System.

In a statement on X, recently elected NYC mayor Zohran Mamdani said that he was “outraged” by the seizure of the flag. “New York is the birthplace of the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement, and no act of erasure will ever change, or silence, that history,” he wrote. “Our city has a duty not just to honor this legacy, but to live up to it.”

Abrams has long been outspoken in her political beliefs. In December, she released a song called “Sold Out” with frequent collaborator Aaron Dessner and Bon Iver to benefit Everytown, a non-profit that works to end gun violence, after a string of shootings across the globe that month.

Shortly before that, Abrams spoke out about the inhumane conditions Palestinian people are facing in Gaza and slammed President Trump for mocking Rob Reiner in a Truth Social post right after the filmmaker and his wife, Michele, were killed in their home. “Within 24 hours of the most unimaginable tragedy a family can endure, we see the President yet again reveal the most poisonous and vile narcissism maybe in the history of humanity,” she wrote on her Story at the time, calling Trump “indefensible.”

“It is getting harder to find the words to describe the pain in the world,” she added. “I am lighting a candle for everybody who is hurting.”

‘Hit the Quan’ Rapper iHeartMemphis Arrested After SWAT Standoff in Florida

Rapper iHeartMemphis (born Richard Maurice Colbert) was arrested in Florida on Tuesday (Feb. 10) on a pair of charges following a bizarre standoff with SWAT team members.

According to NBC6, the “Hit the Quan” rapper barricaded himself inside a home and livestreamed a portion of his exchanges with police and authorities outside the residence, which he’s reportedly been renting in Plantation, Florida.

With officers unable to detain Colbert (formerly iLoveMemphis) on Monday, law enforcement called in the SWAT team, which apprehended the rapper around 3:45 a.m. ET early Tuesday.

Jail records show that iHeartMemphis was booked on charges of written threats to kill and resisting an officer without violence.

“There’s a rapper that was renting this house, and apparently he was having some kind of an episode,” Homeowners Association president Hank VanBaalen told NBC6. “They had the cops here, and then I got a call from one of my neighbors that they were back here [on Monday] during the day.”

TMZ captured a portion of iHeartMemphis’ livestream on Instagram, which saw him insulting various members of law enforcement. A Tesla vehicle appeared to be crashed through the garage door as well.

“Get away from my house. I don’t need help, I need water. Not Coca-Cola, not f—ing AIDS and red meats. I’m God. Look at me walk across this f—ing grass. I’m fast like lightning, I will speed off on your cracker a–,” he said.

The 32-year-old was asked if he had thoughts of harming himself of others. “No, what the f— I’m gonna do that for. No stupid [expletive],” he replied. “I don’t want to hurt nobody or myself. I am not Kanye.”

iHeartMemphis is best known for his 2015 debut single “Hit the Quan,” which was inspired by Rich Homie Quan’s dance in his “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” music video.

“Hit the Quan” hit the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 15. Later in 2015, the smash hit and its viral dance craze earned the Memphis rapper a deal with Barry Weiss/SONGS Music Publishing’s indie label RECORDS.

Billboard has reached out to the Plantation Police Department for comment.

‘Stranger Things 5’ Soundtrack Debuts in Top 10 on 7 Billboard Charts

The Stranger Things 5 soundtrack debuts in the top 10 across seven Billboard album charts (dated Feb. 14), including No. 1 on Vinyl Albums and No. 2 on Top Album Sales.

The set boasts oldies heard in the fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series, including Michael Jackson’s “Rockin’ Robin,” ABBA’s “Fernando” and David Bowie’s “Heroes.”

The compilation takes a bow in the top 10 on Soundtracks (No. 2), Top Current Album Sales (No. 5), Top Rock Albums (No. 5), Top Rock & Alternative Albums (No. 6) and Indie Store Album Sales (No. 8). It also enters at No. 32 on the overall Billboard 200.

The soundtrack sold 21,000 copies in the United States in the week ending Feb. 5, according to Luminate. Vinyl sales comprise most of that sum, with 17,000 copies sold across five variants. The set was also available for purchase on CD, cassette and digital download.

Only one album sold more than Stranger Things 5 in the latest tracking week, and that was Don Toliver’s new studio album OCTANE, which debuts at No. 1 on Top Album Sales with 31,000 copies sold (his best sales week ever).

Megadeth’s self-titled effort falls 1-3 on Top Album Sales in its second week, ENHYPEN’s chart-topping THE SIN : VANISH dips 3-4 and Alice in Chains’ self-titled former No. 1 reenters at No. 5 after a 30th anniversary reissue across multiple vinyl variants.

Olivia Dean’s The Art of Loving rises 10-6, Michael Jackson’s 2003 compilation Number Ones reenters at No. 7 after its debut on vinyl, Stray Kids’ DO IT falls 4-8, A$AP Rocky’s Don’t Be Dumb dips 8-9 and Lily Allen’s West End Girl debuts at No. 10 after its debut on physical formats.
