KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons was hospitalized Tuesday after a car crash in Malibu, California, NBC4 Los Angeles was the first to report.

Simmons’ wife Shannon Tweed let NBC4 know that the rocker was recovering at home, while a rep for KISS told Billboard on Wednesday (Oct. 8) that Simmons is “already back to work.”

Related

Also on Wednesday, Simmons sent a message to fans through his X account thanking everyone for “the kind wishes” and assuring, “I’m completely fine. I had a slight fender bender. It happens. Especially to those of us [who are] horrible drivers. And that’s me. All is well.”

According to the NBC4 report, the crash was reported to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department just before 1 p.m. PT when Simmons’ Lincoln Navigator reportedly crashed into a parked car on Pacific Coast Highway. He told deputies on the scene that he had either fainted or passed out before the crash, according to the L.A. Sheriff.

Next month, Simmons and KISS are set to perform together for the first time since December 2023, when they wrapped up their End of The Road Tour with a two-night stand at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. The band announced in March that they would reunite as part of the three-day KISS Kruise: Landlocked in Vegas event, which runs Nov. 14-16 at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. The event promises two makeup-free KISS Unmasked shows — one acoustic and one electric — plus activities with Simmons, founding frontman Paul Stanley and 2002-23 guitarist/vocalist Tommy Thayer.

Sean “Diddy” Combs has gotten a judge’s approval to participate in the federal prison system’s in-house drug abuse rehab program while serving his sentence for prostitution crimes.

Judge Arun Subramanian said in a Wednesday (Oct. 8) order that Combs qualifies for the Bureau of Prisons’ Residential Drug Abuse Program, known as RDAP. Combs, who has been in a pretrial jail facility since his arrest last year, was sentenced last week to another three years in prison for orchestrating drug-fueled sex marathons known as “freak-offs” between his girlfriends and male escorts.

Related

While the rapper has vehemently denied that his freak-offs violated federal law, his lawyers conceded during trial that he “obviously has a drug problem.” Combs’ team wrote in a recent letter to the court that the nine-month treatment program would help him “address drug abuse issues,” and prosecutors took no position on the matter.

Combs has not yet been assigned a prison to serve the rest of his time. His lawyers have requested that he be sent to Fort Dix in New Jersey, though RDAP is offered at more than 50 federal prison complexes nationwide.

For some inmates, RDAP carries the enticing perk that successful graduates can shave up to a year off their prison sentences. But there’s a catch: only “nonviolent offenders” are eligible for this type of early release, and it’s not clear that Combs will meet that standard.

Prosecutors say Combs relied on “unchecked violence,” including a now-infamous video of him beating Cassie Ventura at a hotel, to force women to participate in the freak-offs. Judge Subramanian seemed to agree at Combs’ sentencing hearing, saying that the rapper’s prostitution activity amounted to “subjugation.”

Related

Combs’ lawyers, meanwhile, have insisted that the jury rejected this theory of violence when they acquitted him of more serious racketeering and sex-trafficking charges. The defense position is that in convicting Combs of interstate prostitution only, jurors determined that the freak-offs were fully consensual sexual encounters.

The true meaning of Combs’ split verdict is a thorny legal question. Experts tell Billboard that it’s up for debate how much of the violence cited by prosecutors during the trial should be deemed part of his prostitution conviction. This question will likely be weighed by a higher court during Combs’ upcoming appeal, as well as by the Bureau of Prisons in deciding whether he qualifies for early release under RDAP.

Combs’ team is now preparing to file his much-anticipated appeal. Meanwhile, they’re also lobbying for a pardon from President Donald Trump, who confirmed on Monday (Oct. 6) that the rapper he called “Puff Daddy” has asked for clemency.

AXS, the AEG-owned ticketing company, is purchasing a majority stake in SISTIC, Singapore’s leading ticketing platform, it was announced on Wednesday (Oct. 8).

“Singapore and Southeast Asia represent some of the most dynamic growth markets in live entertainment,” said Blaine Legere, president of international at AXS. “By combining SISTIC’s deep regional expertise with AXS’s global technology platform, we have a unique opportunity to redefine how fans discover, access, and experience live events.”

Related

Founded more than 30 years ago, SISTIC has been a cornerstone of Singapore’s concert and live entertainment ecosystem. The company services more than 300 organizers annually and facilitates ticketing for over 2,000 events across Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Hong Kong, selling more than 6.5 million tickets each year.

Notable recent events ticketed by SISTIC include Hamilton, My Chemical Romance Live in Singapore, A-mei’s ASMeiR Max 2024 World Tour, Greatest Hits of A.R. Rahman, Ed Sheeran’s + – = ÷ x Tour in Manila, Philippines, and the upcoming World Aquatics Championships Singapore 2025.

SISTIC CEO Joe Ow said the partnership will allow the company to scale while maintaining its commitment to clients and fans.

“Joining AXS’s network opens new opportunities for us to grow and scale our impact to meet changing demands, while staying true to our commitment to deliver professional ticketing services and experiences,” Ow said. “Our technology integration will be intentionally gradual, allowing us to ensure a seamless experience for clients while we combine AXS’s global platform with our deep market knowledge.”

The deal also reinforces SISTIC’s role in supporting the SG Culture Pass, a government initiative designed to strengthen Singapore’s arts and culture landscape. With AXS’s backing, the partnership aims to introduce more diverse live events to the country and solidify its reputation as a global entertainment destination.

Clipse made history when they became the first rappers to perform at the Vatican on Sept. 13 for the Grace for the World concert, which was produced by the duo’s close friend and longtime collaborator Pharrell.

The Thornton brothers brought Let God Sort Em Out to the holy ground for a poignant performance of Clipse’s album opener “The Birds Don’t Sing,” which is an emotional tribute to their late parents.

Pusha T and Malice feel they carry a responsibility to bring hip-hop to places it hasn’t been before while continuing to elevate the genre.

“It was definitely a moment for us,” Malice told VIBE. “I think we definitely broke ground. It’s overdue and past time that people understand that hip-hop belongs everywhere. It’s expression, it’s communication, it teaches the world about our culture. It’s an art form that’s celebrated in every walk of life. It’s nothing that should be surprising — we should be celebrated everywhere.”

While King Push reflected on the genre’s fight for exposure and recognition, adding: “I’ve been here for a long time with hip-hop, and I remember it not being seen as an art, and it not being televised. And like you said, now being at the Vatican — we do this so everyone can see how far it can go.”

Let God Sort Em Out arrived in July, and serves as the first Clipse album since 2009. The project debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, and the duo also took it back to their childhood home in Virginia while paying homage to their parents for the “Birds Don’t Sing” visual, which was released last week.

Speaking to Billboard at the top of October, Pusha T explained how he made it a mission to break the glass ceiling when it comes to ageism in rap and hip-hop being a “young man’s game” with the Clipse reuniting this year.

“I’ve always looked at rap and other genres, rock specifically, and I’ve never liked how rap always had the age ceiling where everyone else didn’t,” he said. “I’ve personally always wanted to make it my business to crack that ceiling, and I think the Clipse album 1,000 percent [did it].”

Selena Gomez‘s character, Alex Russo, has come a long way since the premiere of Wizards of Waverly Place back in 2007 — but on the latest episode of the Disney Channel show’s reboot, her story may have just come to an end. (Spoiler alert!)

The Wizards Beyond Waverly Place season 2 finale arrived Wednesday (Oct. 8) on Disney+, revealing the answers to some series-long questions. Costarring and executive produced by Gomez and David Henrie — who reprises his role as Justin Russo from the original Wizards — the reboot launched in 2024 with the premise that Alex wanted Justin to help her train a young wizard named Billie Russo, played by Janice LeAnn Brown.

Related

At the beginning, Billie’s past and family were total mysteries. But in the new finale, it was finally revealed: Alex is her mom. And yes, the Rare Beauty founder’s character knew all along.

In the finale, a magic locket activated by Alex’s tears unleashes a memory of the lovably snarky hellraiser wiping a much younger Billie’s memories and sending her off to boarding school to protect her from an evil wizard named Lord Morsus (who also happens to be Billie’s paternal grandfather). “I would do anything to be with you,” Alex tells Billie in the memory. “But right now, there’s someone out there trying to find you, and I can’t let that happen.”

But Alex secretly being a mother wasn’t the only jaw-dropping moment the finale had to offer. During a final confrontation with Lord Morsus, Gomez’s character sacrifices herself by sealing herself inside a portal, dragging the villain in with her. That might be the last fans see of Ms. Russo — unless Billie, Justin and his kids have anything to say about it. At the very end, the gang resolves to find a way to locate and save Alex.

Since its premiere in October last year, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place has brought a new generation of fans into the magical world Disney Channel created in the late 2000s. The original show — which propelled Gomez into superstardom — wrapped in 2012.

And while the actress has her hands full with almost too many projects to count, from running her Rare Beauty empire to starring in Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building, Gomez has said that returning to her roots has been extremely fulfilling for her. “It’s the best feeling in the whole world to be able to bring this back for you and to all the people who have never seen it before,” she told People in 2024.

She added at the time, “This is what gave me everything that I have today, and I’ll never forget that this is where I started.”

Both seasons of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place are streaming now on Disney+.

Taylor Swift is making her way around the late-night circuit in support of her new album, The Life of a Showgirl. Her next stop? Late Night With Seth Meyers.

The “Elizabeth Taylor” singer sat down for an interview with Jimmy Fallon on Oct. 6, with the show airing at 11:35 p.m. on NBC. The chart-topper spoke to Fallon about her internet-breaking engagement to Travis Kelce and how she went about creating her new album. Later on in the show, the singer played a game likened to two truths and a lie, where Fallon asked if she’d turned down playing the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show because the NFL wouldn’t allow her to own the performance footage. “It has nothing to do with Travis. He would love for me to do it. I’m just too locked in,” said Swift in regards to the now-debunked rumor.

Swift revealed that she and Roc Nation producer and rap icon Jay Z have had talks about her headlining the coveted halftime show in the past. “Our teams are really close. They sometimes will call and say, ‘How does she feel about [the Super Bowl]?’ And that’s not like an official offer or like a conference room conversation. Just ‘Our teams are really close, how does she feel about it in general?’” While it’s not clear if Swift will ever step up to the plate, or turf, for the halftime show, we find it oddly comforting that she’s at least considered the opportunity.

Swift will then catch up with Meyers on Oct. 8 at 12:35 a.m., also on NBC. Prior to chatting with NBC’s late-night hosts, Swift stopped by The Graham Norton Show to talk about the album and show off her shiny new engagement ring.

The 12-track album is all that everyone is chatting about currently, and the proof is in its massive reach. On its first day of release on Oct. 3, the album sold a whopping 2.7 million copies in traditional album sales — that’s both physical and digital purchases — across all versions of the album, according to initial reports to Luminate. All 14 of Swift’s full-length studio albums and re-recorded projects from 2008’s Fearless (her second album) through 2024’s The Tortured Poets Department have debuted at No. 1.

You can watch her upcoming apperance on Late Night With Seth Meyers on NBC, but if you don’t have cable, you can also watch the Swift’s talk show appearances on a live TV streaming service like DirecTV. DirecTV’s current packages include a live NBC feed, so you can use it to watch Swift without cable. Even better: DirecTV offers a five-day free trial that you can use to stream Swift’s late-night appearances online free.

You can also watch Swift’s Late Night appearances via Peacock, the official NBCUniversal streaming service. Peacock lets you watch the talk show interviews live and on-demand afterwards.

A basic subscription to the service will run you $7.99 a month; however, the premium plan, for $10.99 a month, is the way to go if you’re looking to watch Swift talk all things The Life of a Showgirl live on TV (the basic plan also lets you stream on-demand content after their live airdate). Peacock’s premium plus membership is $16.99 a month, which lets you watch without any ads.

The Life of a Showgirl is Swift’s 12th studio album, and was released through Republic Records. The album was created during Swift’s life on the road during her Eras Tour. The album features 12 tracks, including “The Fate of Ophelia,” “Father Figure,” “Honey,” “Wi$h Li$t” and “Ruin the Friendship.” Swift announced her new album during an appearance on fiancé Travis Kelce’s podcast, New Heights.

Kitsch Stainless Steel Gua Sha Facial Tool

A stainless steel facial tool to de-puff.

It’s time to embrace the natural face you were given, enhancing your looks with natural tips and tricks. A good way to help reduce puffiness is with a gua sha tool. You know it works because gua sha — a healing therapy — has been used in beauty routines in China going back thousands of years. The scraping tool — which can be made of various hard materials such as stone and jade — has since been adapted to provide different benefits. Kitsch’s gua sha tool is made of stainless steel, a material that works to cool and help depuff the skin.

Stainless steel is also non-porous, meaning it won’t harbor bacteria or moisture like would. This also means your products will absorb better. In general, gua sha tools are used to massage the body in tandem with an oil or moisturizer, promoting blood circulation and lymphatic drainage. A stick sunscreen with SPF 50.

It’s heatwave season, which means protecting your skin, especially while on the go, can be a challenge. Tocobo Cotton Airy Sun Stick makes sunscreen application simple. No messy cream or spray, just swipe on and go. The SPF 50 formula is contained in a roll-up stick that glides on, leaving the skin with a matte finish sans the nasty white cast. A sunblock that reads “Broad-spectrum” simply means it protects the skin from both UVA and UVB rays. These pesky rays can cause skin cancer and premature aging if the skin is left unprotected. The Sun Stick is super compact, small enough to chuck in your bag or fanny pack making it perfect for festival season for application on the fly.

A glittering lip oil a neutral glossy hue.

Juicy lips are simply elite in our book. If you’re ready to get glossy for summer, NYX’s Fat Oil Lip Drip is available on sale at Amazon. You’ve got 14 unique shades from clear to pink to choose from. Our favorite? 06 Follow Back, a coral hue with flecks of glitter suspended throughout. The beauty about NYX’s lip oil, and lip oils in general, is that they’re not sticky.

The formula is oil based rather than a sticky gel base, meaning the product sits comfortably on the lips without leaving an uncomfortable residue. These lip oils offer up to 12 hours of hydration, while the tint is even and buildable. We like the glitter flecks because they catch the light, offering the lips a three-dimensional finish. If you don’t like the glitter, there are plenty of finishes to choose from that aren’t jam-packed with shine.

They’re not on the first list of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony performers and presenters, but Salt-N-Pepa — which will be receiving a musical influence award — will definitely be in the house.

“Oh yes,” Cheryl “Salt” James tells Billboard. “I don’t want to give it away, (but) we have been having creative calls with choreographers, with people at the Rock Hall, with the music people, and it’s been really fun figuring it out.” And, James adds, it will be the whole of Salt-N-Pepa, meaning formerly estranged DJ Spinderella (Deidra Roper) will be joining Salt and Sandra “Pepa” Denton on Nov. 8 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, streamed live on Disney+.

“The whole Spin situation is so long over,” says Salt. Spinderella, who joined the rap group during 1986, was fired during 2019 just as Salt-N-Pepa began a run on New Kids on the Block’s Mixtape Tour. “We have reconciled. We’re good. We’ve had hard conversations. We’ve cleared up misunderstandings. So let’s dead that to everybody. Spin was at the (Hollywood) Walk of Fame (in 2022). We’ve performed together. It’s, like, so old — please, chill out….”

It’s not surprising, then, that Salt-N-Pepa is feeling nothing but positive about the impeding Rock Hall honor.

“I feel like we’ve gotten all the things now,” James says. “We have our Walk of Fame, our Lifetime Achievement Award from the Grammys, every award in-between, from MTV to you name it. So this is the last big one, I guess, and we’re very, very excited. It’s kind of like what you want in your career; you want longevity, you want recognition, and the fact that everybody’s representing Salt-N-Pepa’s contribution to music is perfection to me at this point in my life. A lot of people are saying ‘long overdue.’ I say it’s right on time.”

Formed during 1985 in New York City, Salt-N-Pepa was the first female rap act to score a gold and platinum album (with its 1986 debut Hot, Cool & Vicious). In 1995, Salt-N-Pepa and Queen Latifah became the first female rap acts to win Grammys — Salt-N-Pepa for “None of Your Business” and Latifah for “U.N.I.T.Y.” “None of Your Business” hailed from 1993’s quadruple-platinum Very Necessary, which also launched the Billboard Hot 100 top 5 hits “Shoop” and, with En Vogue, “Whatta Man.”

“In the beginning, I just knew Salt-N-Pepa was gonna be something bigger than me,” Salt says. “I don’t know why I knew that, but because I had that vibration of believing as much as I did, it propelled me forward: ‘This is what I’m born to do. This is my destiny.’ That’s how I thought about it.” She acknowledges that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame “was definitely something I never thought about. I haven’t actually paid attention — when Missy (Elliott) got in, of course. When Public Enemy did, of course, and when people started saying, ‘You guys need to be in the Rock Hall!’ Then a few artists — like, shout-out to Chuck D — actively campaigned to get us in there.”

Salt is particularly happy that Salt-N-Pepa is being honored alongside “our brothers Outkast” — who she recalls presenting one of its first BET Awards — and “my good friend Cyndi Lauper, who I adore.”

She says the duo is also proud of being honored in the musical influence category but confesses that, “I’m pretty sure we weren’t actively thinking of how we were gonna impact people when we first started. We just wanted to be artists…I think part of our longevity is our authenticity, and that we just organically came together as friends. We say we brought fun, fashion and femininity to hip-hop. We weren’t afraid to be feminine; the men were being pretty hardcore, but we were just some round-the-way chicks that other girls related to, and it just took off. It still mind-screws me, though. Like, there’s Cheryl, and there’s Salt; Cheryl’s like, ‘Wow, Salt, girl, you did THAT! How did you do that?’ But I am at the place now where I think I’m just starting to receive the magnitude of what Salt-N-Pepa have accomplished and what we’ve meant and…being able to celebrate that.”

Salt-N-Pepa hasn’t released an album since 1997’s Brand New, or fresh material since a couple of new tracks for The Best of Salt-N-Pepa two years later. But Salt says some things might be shaking for her and Pepa in the wake of the Rock Hall honor. “There’s some talk about us possibly going on tour with Janet (Jackson). I hope that happens,” she says. “And you never know. After I put out some music and get my little independent blueprint worked out…maybe, yeah, Salt-N-Pepa might follow suit.”

Salt recently released a solo single, “Chosen,” and has another, “Kings and Queens,” due out on Oct. 26. Both are slated for an album, Salty and Lit, that’s due out next year and shares a title with a podcast she’s launching with daughter Corin Wray. “I love being in the studio,” she says. “I’ve got, like, 14 songs, still making more. I’m so inspired. My goal is to bring positive vibes to hip-hop without being preachy or judgmental, and the music being fire. It’s like a breath of fresh air, so refreshing. There’s no cursing. You’re not rapping about your hooty cat. It’s just a celebration.”

As far as the world knew when Nicole Kidman sat down for her cover story interview with Vogue, she and Keith Urban were happily married.

By the time the article arrived on Wednesday (Oct. 8), however, the actress had filed to divorce the country star after 19 years of marriage. But while she wasn’t able to directly address it during the cover interview, Kidman may have hinted that all was not as it seemed.

In the piece, writer Wendell Steavenson recalls, “When I asked about how she felt now, in her 50s, I had expected to hear a nice, trite response about the sagacity of age.”

“Instead Kidman was wry, rueful, unsure of herself,” the article continues. “She said: ‘How many times do you have to be taught that you think you know where your life is going and then it isn’t going in that direction?’”

Shortly after the interview took place — and about a week and a half after the Vogue story was published — Billboard confirmed that Kidman and Urban had separated. The former filed for divorce on Sept. 29, citing “marital difficulties and irreconcilable differences.”

The filing included a parenting plan agreement naming the Golden Globe winner’s home as the primary residence for the ex-couple’s two teenage daughters.

Neither of the stars have publicly addressed their split since, though Urban did recently make headlines for changing the lyrics in his song “The Fighter” — which he has previously said was inspired by his now-estranged wife — to shout out his guitarist, Maggie Baugh.

“When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie I’ll be your guitar player,” he sang while performing on stage with Baugh, as opposed to the original words: “When they’re tryna get to you, baby I’ll be the fighter.”

But while Kidman may be feeling a lot of uncertainty at this time, she also told Vogue about how excited she is to be exploring her passions as an actress — and possibly a writer in the future, she revealed. “So much to say and so little time to say it,” she mused in the interview.

“About death and life and joy and grief and loss and sex and why we’re here and what is truth and is truth even necessary,” she continued. “What is the future? Do we even care? Are we living in a dream? What is reality? Where are we going? Why do I keep working? Why stop? You’ll have to tie me down, tie me up!”
