Zach Bryan fans might be excited for his new music, but certain United States government officials definitely aren’t.

More specifically, Tricia McLaughlin — the assistant secretary of public affairs to the Department of Homeland Security — isn’t happy with the country singer-songwriter’s lyric about the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in a new song teaser he posted recently to Instagram. The line in question finds Bryan lamenting, “And ICE is gonna come bust down your door.”

In response, McLaughlin told TMZ on Tuesday (Oct. 7) that Bryan should “stick to ‘Pink Skies,’” referring to the musician’s 2024 top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.

Billboard has reached out to Bryan’s rep and the Dept. of Homeland Security for comment.

The DHS official’s comments come four days after the Grammy winner posted the snippet of an unreleased song, which he captioned, “the fading of the red white and blue.”

“I heard the cops came/ Cocky motherf–kers, ain’t they?” Bryan sings on the full verse in question. “And ICE is gonna come bust down your door/ Try to build a house no one builds no more/ But I got a telephone/ Kids are all scared and all alone … The middle finger’s rising, and it won’t stop showing/ Got some bad news/ The fading of the red, white and blue.”

The lyrics quickly sparked backlash from supporters of the Donald Trump administration’s forceful crackdowns on immigration by way of mass deportations carried out by ICE raids in different parts of the U.S. On the other hand, Bryan’s song aligns him with numerous other musicians who have spoken up against the country’s treatment of immigrants this past year.

One of those stars is Bad Bunny, who was recently unveiled as the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show performer. The news also got a response from the DHS, with adviser Corey Lewandowski saying that ICE agents will be present for the Puerto Rican rapper’s performance at the big game.

“There is nowhere you can provide safe haven to people who are in this country illegally,” Lewandowski’s said on The Benny Show on Oct. 1. “Not the Super Bowl and nowhere else.”

On this week’s episode of The Hot 100 Show, Alex Warren opens up about his whirlwind journey to landing a Hot 100 hit and what it means to him. He talks about his relationship with his wife and how she’s contributed to his success, his thoughts on KPop Demon Hunters‘ “Golden,” the lasting influence of his father keeping him grounded as he navigates success, the nerves and excitement of performing in front of his peers and how he stays true to himself.

We also break down the top 10 of the Hot 100 and more!

Tetris Kelly: Hey, what’s up? And welcome to The Hot 100 Show. I’m your host, Tetris Kelly, and we have a crazy show today. Alex Warren is here, and we got a live studio audience. But before we get into all the fun, let’s run it down with your Hot 100 top 10. This is the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 for the week dated Oct. 11. Down to 10 is “Your Idol.”

Jerah Milligan: Have you seen any, or heard any of the songs from KPop Demon Hunters?

Fan 1: I have not. I have a couple. I’ve heard people talk about it. I’m not. I haven’t heard anything from it. I haven’t seen the show or anything like that.

Jerah Milligan: Man, listen, you’re missing joy. Like when you watch it, it’s like they’re eating things. They’re fighting demons. There’s demon boy bands.

Fan 1: I’ll try it out.

Tetris Kelly: “Love Me Not” is steady at nine.

Fan 2: She’s so dope. And, like, I knew the name, and I think I had, like, heard a couple songs, and then I went to go see her. She like, blew me away. I feel like since then, I’ve just been listening to her music a bunch. She’s super talented, and I feel like she’s like, one of those artists that’s like, very like, established right now, but has the potential to, like, pop into like, a really, really big, massive artist.

Tetris Kelly: Morgan returns to the top 10 with “I Got Better.” That was numbers 10 through eight. We’re gonna get to the rest of the chart, but before we do, I got a very special guest to bring out. Ladies and gentlemen, Alex Warren.

No, the title isn’t clickbait: Labubus are on sale, however they’re not on sale for Amazon Prime day.

It is Amazon Prime Day today, Oct. 7, till Oct. 8th and while you can’t get deals on Labubu’s via Amazon, you can with Walmart. That’s right. The stuffed collectible is currently on supersale with prices starting at 43% off.

Thanks to Walmart’s partnership with online marketplace StockX, the Labubus they have in stock are certified real, and they’re going fast. The trending plushie can be purchased within blind boxes, leaving your purchase up to chance, or solo on Walmart’s website. Created by Hong Kong-born artist Kasing Lung, these little monsters made their first appearance back in 2015.

The figure’s viral moment didn’t happen until way later in April of 2024 when K-Pop star Lisa from the world-renouned girl group BLACKPINK was seen sporting the fluffy figure attached to her Louis Vuitton bag. Since Lisa’s introduction, we’ve seen stars like Rihanna, Dua Lipa, Kim Kardashian, Rosé, David Beckham, Lizzo, Madonna, BTS, Cher and Lady Gaga toting their Labubus with pride, sometimes multiples at once, affixed to bags, keys and even made into birthday cakes.

We’ve also found alternative Labubu styles, including phone charms and displayable figures sans the fluff. Pricing on these Labubu’s oftentimes depends on the demand and series they fall under. To break it down even further, a “series” is a theme that the blind box is based on. Sweet treats like macarons are one of the themes, reflected in the Labubu’s coloring, while the “Big Into Energy” series is themed based on emotions and feelings like happiness, hope, luck and love, among others.

A single Labubu blinx box.

If you didn’t know, blind boxes are a global phenomenon that centers around cute figures and collectibles. These figures are packaged in a box, usually with images on it depicting all the figures you’re able to get from a specific series. You won’t know what you’ll get until you pop open the box. Upon purchasing your blind box, you’ll usually also have the opportunity to get a secret figure not found on the side of the box. The chances of pulling a secret are rare but not impossible. In fact, I’ve seen it happen with my own eyes. It’s pretty magical.

The blind box world is borderline addicting, like a more fun and less detrimental version of gambling. It’s all about the heart-pounding thrill of not knowing what you’ll get out of a select few items. Labubus weren’t the first blind box items to go mega viral. You’ve also got Sonny Angel, cherub-like figures invented by Toru Soeya, along with little green figures called Smiski, also created by Soeya. Peach Riot, Calico Critters, CryBaby, Smoko, Hirono and Lulu the Piggy are just a few other hit blind box series you can find on the market right now.

Pop Mart also launched their The Monsters-Cheers! Series, which is a blind box that features a double-walled glass inside. You have the option to pull six different colorful cups featuring a Labubu motif, along with one secret. The innovation is one we haven’t seen from the blind box world until now.

In his new songs, Tom Morello keeps the rebellious spirit and explosive sound of his former band, Rage Against The Machine, alive. But now, in addition to crafting powerful riffs, the American guitar virtuoso also sings — on a new artistic project that combines rock and activism, alongside his 13-year-old son, Roman Morello.

“From a musical level, I’m very excited about my first-ever solo rock album”, Morello tells Billboard Español about this still-untitled project. He hints that it will honor the riffs and repertoire of the bands that brought him fame, including Audioslave, as well as the acoustic material from his work as The Nightwatchman, and his collaborations with the legendary Bruce Springsteen.

“I really wanted to make… a record that is relentless in its big guitar riffs, relentless in its inventive guitar solos”, he adds in a video call from Los Angeles. “But also a record that invites my young son Roman, who is a tremendous guitar player who we’ve played [with] across the world — [one that] welcomes him and his ideas into it, as a new generation who has this Morello DNA of rock ‘n’ roll power.”

His latest single, “Pretend You Remember Me,” offers a glimpse of what fans can expect in 2026 when the album, set to be released by Mom+Pop Music, drops. Written by Morello, the song features his haunting vocals and signature captivating guitar riffs.

The track was written in solidarity with immigrants in the U.S. who have been affected by deportation campaigns. The accompanying video, directed by Morello himself, features activist and freed political prisoner Leonard Peltier.

“The song is written from an emotional point of view and a reminder that this situation of families being torn apart is not new to the Trump administration,” he explains. “It was there with Biden. It was there with Trump’s first term. It was there with Obama… My heart goes out to all the families throughout all of these years who’ve been torn apart.”

The 61-year-old musician and activist admits that the immigration policies enforced by the Trump administration is “an issue that makes me furious and angry.” In June, he joined several demonstrations against anti-immigrant raids in Los Angeles, where the Mexican flag became a symbol of the protests.

On that occasion, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem accused Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum of “encouraging violent protests” in Los Angeles, following the immigration raids ordered by the Trump administration, a claim the Mexican leader strongly denied in a message on X.

“First of all, let me just say I’m not an expert on Mexican politics — I don’t want to pretend that I am to your readers,” Morello responds when asked for his opinion. “But from what I do know, you have a president who is intelligent. You have a president who does care about human rights and about the people in the country — and not about sort of dividing, but uniting in a way that will uplift its citizens, as opposed to a president that is our president.”

A Grammy winner, Harvard graduate, and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Morello says he has truly been able to write honestly about his view of the world. He shares that “Pretend You Remember Me” and his 2024 single “Soldier in the Army of Love” offer a preview of the lyrical direction his new album will take, adding that “there’s plenty more coming.”

The musician is also planning his return to Latin America in 2026, with his first stop on March 13 at the Lollapalooza Chile festival, followed by another performance at Estéreo Picnic in Colombia on March 21. He hopes to add Mexico to his anticipated tour of the region, where he recorded the live DVD The Battle of Mexico City with Rage Against The Machine in 1999.

“Some of my favorite shows that I’ve ever played were in Mexico,” he recalls. “From the early shows Rage Against the Machine 1992 at Iguana’s in Tijuana to Rage in Mexico City, Audioslave, Prophets of Rage. Some of my favorite shows have been there. I know that the fans in Mexico have been wonderful supporters of all of my work, and I can’t wait to get back there and rock you.”

In between her furious baking schedule, attending Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s wedding last month, releasing half a dozen variations on her The Life of a Showgirl album and, it seems safe to assume, beginning to plan her own wedding to fiancé Travis Kelce, it’s hard to imagine Taylor Swift has a lot of free time.

Related

But on Monday night (Oct. 6), during a lightning round of questions on The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon asked her to name the last song by any singer (not including herself) that she’s listened to lately and Swift, 35, was right there with the answer. “Oh, Tate McRae has a great new song called ‘Tit For Tat,’ you gotta listen to it,” she said. “Like, full volume, over and over again on repeat. It’s just so good.”

As you might imagine, McRae, 22, had a totally chill, not at all freaking out response to the high praise from the high priestess of pop. “Oh my Godddddddddd [7 eyes welled with tears emoji, six crying emoji] whaaaaaaaaaaat,” McRae wrote on her Instagram Story on Tuesday morning (Oct. 7) over not one, but two different grabs of the video from the Swift shout out.

The song was released last month as a stand-alone single after first being teased on McRae’s Miss Possessive tour. Though McRae has not made any public comment on the title or the lyrics, the loosie single dropped two months after she ended her one-year relationship with singer The Kid LAROI. The latter revealed the split as part of a July post denying rumors that his team had seeded negative posts about McRae online to help promote his then-new single, “Hot Girl Problems.”

LAROI then released “A Cold Play” in early September, a song that appears to reference their breakup with lyrics including, “Who was I to think that I could fix you, baby?/ Who would I be if I didn’t miss you, baby? I hope that you know you were appreciated/ Around my house, I still got up all of our pictures, baby/ ‘Cause I still love you, that’s how I feel at my core/ Flew different states to come see you in between tour/ I gave you everything I had and even more.”

McRae’s “T4T” also seems to address the break on the first verse, where she sings, “The day I met you, boy, I thought it was a blessing/ In the heat of it, I always took your side/ It’s a shame you out here tryna make it messy/ Wow, you’re messy, damn/ We wеre good, I thought we made it through thе ending/ I was hearing s–t I never thought you’d say.”

The pre-chorus gets even spicier, with McRae playfully throwing down the gauntlet in a most Swiftian manner as she challenges, “Let’s go song for song, let’s go back to back/ Let’s go tit for tat, boy, you asked for that/ That’s the best you got, where’s the good one at?/ I was never as far away as you thought.” The song is already shaping up to be one of McRae’s biggest solo hits to date, debuting at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the week ending Saturday (Oct. 11); she hit No. 1 on the Hot 100 in May thanks to her feature on Morgan Wallen’s “What I Want.”

Earlier this week, Swift told SiriusXM’s Morning Mash-Up that McRae was one of the three artists she’s “constantly streaming” at home, also name-dropping Sabrina Carpenter and sombr.

Luna Stephens is shaping up to be quite the interviewer. Months after helming a Billboard Family Q&A with her famous dad John Legend, the 9-year-old has scored an exciting new gig: talking to Gloria Estefan and Laila Lockhart Kraner about the new Gabby’s Dollhouse movie.

In an adorable video that Billboard Family is exclusively premiering below, the EGOT winner’s eldest daughter with Chrissy Teigen sits between both the stars at the movie premiere. “Hi, my name is Luna, and today I’m interviewing Gigi and Gabby,” Luna tells the camera with a smile, referring to Estefan and Kraner’s characters in the film.

Luna goes on to ask a number of colorful questions about the characters in the movie, which builds on the interactive Gabby’s Dollhouse children’s series that first premiered on Netflix in 2021. The film is accompanied by the Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie soundtrack, which dropped alongside the film on Sept. 26.

“Do you have a favorite song from the movie that you love to sing?” the young Legend asks her interview subjects.

“I like ‘Gabby’s Dollhouse World,’ I think that’s a catchy one,” replies Kraner, while Estefan says, “For me, I think it’s the ‘pinch me’ song [‘Pinching In’].”

Elsewhere in the interview, Luna adorably challenges the two ladies to make the “silliest meow sound” they can. Both Kraner and Estefan immediately oblige with hilarious yowls, with the iconic Cuban-American entertainer joking, “That’s when they step on the cat’s tail.”

On screen, it’s easy to tell where Luna may have inherited her skills from: Her superstar mom has hosted a number of programs, from Lip Sync Battle to NBC’s New Year’s Eve program in 2018/19.

Late last year, Luna interviewed her dad on camera for Billboard Family. At the time, the two Legends spoke about John’s first kids’ album My Favorite Dream, on which Luna makes a cameo alongside younger brother Miles and Teigen.

Taylor Swift isn’t vying for a Grammy nomination in any category this year. The reason, of course, is that Swift didn’t release an album, single or video in the eligibility period for the 68th annual Grammy Awards – Aug. 31, 2024 to Aug. 30, 2025. Her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, and its lead single, “The Fate of Ophelia,” were both released on Oct. 3, more than a month after the cut-off for the 2026 awards.

Related

This marks the first time Swift hasn’t been vying for a Grammy she was 17. For the Grammy ceremony in February 2007, Swift was eligible for best country song and best female country vocal performance for her first hit single, “Tim McGraw,” but she wasn’t entered in either category. (She may have still been too busy with her high school studies to have mastered the fine points of Grammy entry deadlines.)

Swift has been a nominee in all but three years since then. She wasn’t nominated at the ceremonies held in 2009, 2011 and 2017, but she had been entered in two or more categories at each of those shows.

Swift’s debut album, Taylor Swift, wasn’t nominated for best country album at the 2008 ceremony (though it was entered; the award went to Vince Gill for These Days), but every one of her regular studio albums since then has been nominated for a genre album award (best country album or best pop vocal album) and/or album of the year.

Twice, she was nominated for record of the year with the lead-off single from an upcoming studio album – “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” from Red and “Shake It Off” from 1989.

Starting with “Cardigan” from Folklore in 2020, Swift hasn’t released a lead-off single in advance of her studio albums. The lead singles from Folklore, Evermore, Midnights, The Tortured Poets Department and The Life of a Showgirl were released on the same day as the album, or even a few days after it (in the case of “Cardigan”).

Swift has won 14 Grammys, and is, famously, the only artist in Grammy history to win album of the year four times.

But Swift didn’t win the first time she was nominated for a Grammy. She lost best new artist in 2008 to the gifted but troubled Amy Winehouse. Swift did make it to the stage that year – as a presenter. She and Colombian singer Juanes co-presented the Grammy for best rap/sung collaboration, which went to Rihanna and Jay-Z for “Umbrella.” Relive that moment here:

After more than a decade headlining festivals, raking in five Grammy nods and dominating Billboard’s rock and alternative charts, Tame Impala finally achieves a long-awaited milestone — scoring its first career entry on the Billboard Hot 100.

Kevin Parker’s psych-pop project debuts on the chart this week with its new single, “Dracula.” The song enters at No. 55 on the Oct. 11-dated tally, thanks to 6.5 million official U.S. streams, 1.7 million radio audience impressions and 1,000 sold in its first week of release (Sept 26-Oct. 2), according to Luminate. It’s the third single from Tame Impala’s fifth studio album, Deadbeat, due Oct. 17.

The album’s first two singles, “End of Summer” and “Loser,” each came close to debuting on the Hot 100, both reaching the top 10 of the Bubbling Under Hot 100 ranking. Still, “End of Summer” peaked at No. 7 on Hot Dance/Pop Songs and No. 12 on Hot Alternative Songs, while “Loser” reached No. 14 on Hot Alternative Songs. “Dracula” has emerged as Deadbeat’s clear breakout, though, becoming the set’s first radio hit. The song opens at No. 23 on Rock & Alternative Airplay and No. 31 on Alternative Airplay, while also debuting at Nos. 7 and 8, respectively, on the multimetric Hot Alternative Songs and Hot Rock & Alternative Songs charts.

While “Dracula” marks Tame Impala’s first Hot 100 entry, Kevin Parker himself has appeared on the chart before as both a producer and songwriter. He previously charted five songs on the ranking in his career as a producer or co-producer: Lady Gaga’s “Perfect Illusion” (No. 15 peak in 2016), Travis Scott’s “Skeletons” (No. 47, 2018; it samples Tame Impala’s “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards”), The Weeknd’s “Repeat After Me (Interlude)” (No. 69, 2020) and Dua Lipa’s “Houdini” (No. 11, 2023), “Training Season” (No. 27, 2024) and “Illusion” (No. 43, 2024).

Parker is also credited as a songwriter on all six of those tracks and has songwriting credits on three other Hot 100-charted hits: Kanye West’s “Violent Crimes” (No. 27, 2018), Kid Cudi’s “Dive” (No. 80, 2020; it samples Tame Impala’s “Love/Paranoia”) and Don Toliver’s “Bandit” (No. 38, 2024; it samples Tame Impala’s “One More Hour”).

Even without a prior Hot 100 hit, Tame Impala has long been a force across Billboard’s charts. Three of the act’s albums have reached the Billboard 200: Lonerism (No. 34, 2012), Currents (No. 4, 2015) and The Slow Rush (No. 3, 2020). The latter two also hit No. 1 on both the Alternative Albums and Vinyl Albums charts.

To date, Tame Impala has charted 28 songs on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart, including 10 top 10s. Radio-wise, the act has scored six entries on Adult Alternative Airplay (including the No. 1s “Lost In Yesterday” and “Is It True,” both in 2020) and nine on Alternative Airplay (including the No. 1 “Neverender,” with Justice, in March). “Neverender” also became Tame Impala’s first crossover to Pop Airplay and Adult Pop Airplay earlier this year, reaching Nos. 23 and 33, respectively.

Now with “Dracula,” Tame Impala is still unlocking new milestones. And with Deadbeat on the way, it’s just getting started.

Even Taylor Swift still can’t believe she’s engaged, much less that fiancé Travis Kelce designed the perfect diamond ring for her while keeping it a secret for a “really long time” before he proposed.

Related

During a Monday night (Oct. 6) interview with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, the pop star gushed about how the Kansas City Chiefs tight end pulled off his August proposal, marveling at the glitziness of her own ring while flashing it to the audience. “That’s crazy! That is crazy,” she exclaimed. “I look at it constantly.”

“He had it for a really long time before he gave it to me, too,” Swift continued of the cushion-cut diamond band, which Kelce designed with jeweler Kindred Lubeck. “It doesn’t feel in any way normal for me. I’m just sort of like, ‘Oh, man! Woah!’ But it’s more than that.”

“He’s just my favorite person I’ve ever met — no offense to everyone else,” she added, prompting a big “Awww” from the studio audience. “The fact that this is the person I get to hang out with every day forever, that’s the whole thing of it. You look at that, and you’re like, ‘I get to hang out with him forever.’ [The ring] represents that.”

Swift’s appearance on The Tonight Show comes a couple of months after the 14-time Grammy winner said “Yes” to Kelce, something they announced in late August on Instagram. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” they wrote at the time.

In the weeks since, the couple has been sharing more details about the proposal, with the football player previously revealing that he had it set up while Swift was recording her episode of New Heights with him and his brother, Jason Kelce. On the show, the singer announced her new album The Life of a Showgirl and opened up about her love of sourdough. All the while, the enchanted garden where Travis would get down on one knee was being assembled outside of his and Swift’s house.

“I think for Travis, the podcast was just sort of a distraction, [a] sort of ruse, to keep me not looking out the windows of the house,” she told Fallon, laughing. “There was fully blackout drapes on every single window of the whole house. And I was like, ‘He is so secretive about [the podcast], and I really appreciate that.’”

“Then afterward, I kind of realized, he’s walking around sort of nervous,” Swift added. “He’s like, ‘My heart is racing, I just really want — I know how much this means to you.’”

Later in her conversation with Fallon, the Eras Tour headliner addressed rumors about her — including whether she turned down the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show and what she did or did not say while giving a speech at Selena Gomez’s recent wedding to Benny Blanco.

Even by Taylor Swift‘s standards, the numbers have been inconceivable. Billboard reported on Saturday that Swift’s 12th album The Life of a Showgirl had, by the end of its Friday (Oct. 3) release day, already sold 2.7 million copies — the second-biggest performance of the entire Nielsen era in just a day’s time — while the set also broke streaming records left and right, particularly with lead single and opening track “The Fate of Ophelia.” The album is well on its way to becoming yet another career-defining commercial triumph for Swift — though the response to it from critics and from hardcore Swifties has maybe been a little more mixed so far.

With this Rollout Report Card episode, host Andrew Unterberger is joined by Billboard staffers Danielle Pascual and Meghan Mahar as we look at everything surrounding The Life of a Showgirl — from the New Heights podcast where the new era was officially launched, to the artwork for the album (which at least one of us may have already purchased seven alternate vinyl editions of), to the Official Release Party film debuted last weekend in conjunction with the new set. We attempt to grade all aspects of the rollout, and whether or not the most-anticipated pop album of the year met either our own expectations, or the ones that Taylor (and now-fiancé Travis Kelce) explicitly established for it.

As we hand out our letter grades for all the most important factors in Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl rollout — from the live performances and music videos to the new songs and overall “albuminess” — we answer all the most pressing questions: How well do we actually remember the fate of the original Ophelia? What’s the best way to replicate the Official Release Party from the privacy of your own home? Is there actually any interpolating of George Michael’s “Father Figure” in Taylor Swift’s “Father Figure”? Do we want to see a full Taylor Swift-Charli XCX back-and-forth on record? And perhaps most importantly: How did the biggest pop star of our lifetimes possibly get way bigger yet again?

Check it out above — along with a YouTube playlist of some of the most important moments from this unforgettable album campaign, all of which are discussed in the podcast — and subscribe to the Greatest Pop Stars podcast on Apple Music or Spotify (or wherever you get your podcasts) for weekly discussions every Thursday about all things related to pop stardom!
