PinkPantheress made her Tiny Desk concert debut at the NPR offices on Friday (Sept. 5), and did so in a new way as she stripped the signature Auto-Tune from her vocals.

The 24-year-old admitted that she thought about backing out since she couldn’t have her vocals properly adjusted, but figured out a way to work around the tuning and fans are happy she did.

“This is my first performance I’ve done with no tuning,” she told the crowd. “I’ve never sang with no tuning before so this is really scary. I nearly didn’t do this because the NPR people were like, ‘You can’t use anything.’ Then I was like, ‘Let me try to figure it out and see how it goes.’”

In her classic tartan outfit, Pink jumped around her compact discography throughout the eight-track set. She took it back to 2021 for stripped-down versions of “Atracted to You,” which saw her play the harmonica, and “Pain.”

The singer reimagined her viral TikTok hit “Illegal” into a jazzier version of the track, which hit No. 96 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The rest of PinkPantheress’ set included Heaven Knows‘ “The Aisle,” “Passion” and a ringtone transition to Fancy That standout “Tonight,” which mixes in burly guitar riffs and an interpolation of the chorus from her “Boys a Liar.”

During her interview with Billboard earlier this year, Pink explained how she feels her music is meant for more intimate settings rather than arenas.

“I still don’t think my music belongs in an arena,” she said. “I think my music belongs in a more intimate setting. As an artist, I think my fanbase appreciates more intimate settings.”

Cardi B, Leon Thomas, Wu-Tang Clan and more were honored at Billboard‘s 2025 R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players event Thursday night (Sept. 4) at Unveiled in New York.

Billboard cover stars Cardi B and Leon Thomas received the Impact of the Year Award and Breakthrough of the Year Award, respectively. After Billboard‘s executive director of R&B/hip-hop, Gail Mitchell introduced “everyone’s favorite mutt,” the “Mutt” hitmaker thanked God for helping him throughout his 22-year musical journey as well as Ty Dolla $ign, whose EZMNY Records Thomas is signed to, among others. “R&B still matters,” he said.

Cardi also expressed love for her genre. “New York is the home of hip-hop…. Hip-hop is a feeling. When I was growing up, I didn’t want to be the Shakiras and the J-Los and the R&B artists; I wanted to be like Trina and Lil Kim. I wanted to be like them,” she said before getting the party started by hollering, “Let’s play some hip-hop” and playing her latest single “Imaginary Playerz,” which samples Jay-Z’s 1997 track of the same name.

Joined by Raekwon The Chef and Cappadonna on stage, RZA thanked “the entire Billboard staff for thinking about us, appreciating our contribution to the culture” while being inducted into the Hip-Hop Hall of Fame. “It’s a wonderful validation. We came out in 1993, and since then, and Raekwon can tell you, I used to look at Billboard every week, right? We had dozens of songs and albums on that chart, and it made us feel special,” said RZA.

TDE CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith was accompanied by the label’s co-presidents Anthony “Moosa” Tiffith Jr. and Terrence “Punch” Henderson while accepting the Executive of the Year Award. The room erupted when Tiffith claimed, “I feel like I should’ve won this three, four, five times.” And another trio took the stage shortly after, as Ravyn Lenae, GELO and Odeal won the R&B, Hip-Hop and African Rookie of the Year Awards, respectively.

Riley Green is piling up career successes with songs such as “Worst Way,” his Ella Langley collab “You Look Like You Love Me,” and his latest, “Make It Rain.” Green recently appeared on The Zach Sang Show, and discussed his love for vehicles — and while Green’s career successes might lead some people to assume that love of cars leans toward expensive new models, it seems Green has a love for older cars.

“I get on Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist and when I’m traveling, you can find deals,” he said. “When I’m in a certain town, I’ll find something and if I think it’s a good deal, I’ll buy it and ship it home, work on it a little bit.”

Green noted he has “13 to 15 vehicles in a barn at my house,” including a couple of Chrysler LeBarons. He recalled buying a 1988 Chrysler LeBaron when he was opening shows for Brad Paisley.

“I went and bought this LeBaron…wood panel siding on it. I’ve got two of those now. But I paid $3,000 for that car, and I remember driving it back to the venue and all my buddies were like, ‘Man, you’re just wastin’ money, it’s a piece of junk.’ … I think a Kid Rock song came on or something and I was ridin’ through these cornfields going back to the venue and I said, ‘This was worth $3,000, just this moment,’” he told Sang. “I finally got somebody to haul it to Nashville and we got it fixed and it’s still at my house. I love buyin’ old vehicles like that.”

Green has previously shown off some of his cherished vehicles, including Broncos and a wood-grain LeBaron, in TikTok videos, and during his Zach Sang Show podcast appearance, he shared why he loves older cars.

“I always say you can go buy the nicest BMW, G wagon, whatever, and the next year there’s going to be newer one. There’s never going to be a newer one of those. That’s always going to be the coolest car on the block,” he said. “And crazy enough, I’ve had some early Broncos, I have three of them, but that right there turns heads more than anything I drive. I love that era, those old vehicles, there’s something about the smell in ’em when you crank them up, too. You don’t see them a lot anymore.”

Green recently appeared on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, and his Langley collaboration “Don’t Mind If I Do” is rising up the Country Airplay chart, while he just released a deluxe version of his Don’t Mind If I Do project.

“I like to stay behind the scenes,” he began his speech. “Billboard pulled me out tonight, I got a couple words for y’all. I want to thank Billboard for honoring me with this award, Executive of the Year, I feel like I should’ve won this three, four, five times.”

While he remains one of the industry shakers who prefers to remain in the background, Tiffith admitted it felt good to be seen and recognized for the hard work he’s put in along with many others, to make TDE a powerhouse.

“I am low-key, not promoting myself and letting my artists shine, they don’t recognize that,” he continued. “But tonight is that night, this is the MVP trophy of the music industry.”

Ab-Soul, Royce Da 5’9 and E-40 hopped into Billboard‘s IG comment section to give Top Dawg his flowers.

It’s a well-deserved honor for Tiffith after putting forth another banner campaign in 2025, which saw him elevate Doechii to rap’s next star, while her ALLIGATOR BITES NEVER HEAL mixtape won a Grammy Award for best rap album.

Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s Grand National Tour became the highest-grossing co-headlining tour ever as they grossed $256.4 million across 23 North American shows from April to June.

There’s plenty of depth to the roster with rising rappers such as Ray Vaughn leaving their mark on 2025 with the release of his The Good The Bad The Dollar Menu debut mixtape in April.

Milo J, “Bajo de La Piel” (Sony Music Latin / Milo J)

Milo J presents “Bajo de la Piel” (under the skin), marking his first single under his recent record deal with Sony Music Latin, and first from his upcoming album La Vida Era Más Corta. The powerful song, produced by the Argentine artist alongside Tatool and Santiago Alvarado, is about the invisible marks left over time, inherited memories, and the search for identity. “I have tattoos under my skin/ That never healed while another being is reborn/ I don’t feel like myself and when I saw the sunset I wanted to slow down,” Milo’s deep vocals sing, while also incorporating chants from indigenous communities. Juan Gabriel, Eterno (Musica Eterna/Virgin Music Latin)

Listening to Juan Gabriel’s music is always a delight, but when the songs are accompanied by a mariachi band, joy overflows, and the heart is grateful. The Mexican music superstar’s new posthumous album, Eterno, is an emotional embrace through classics from his extensive repertoire that, although recorded in the past by other artists, have never before been heard in the voice of the great Divo de Juárez. It is this characteristic that makes this work “an album of previously unreleased songs,” Guillermo Hernández Galicia, Juan Gabriel’s musical director, coordinator, and mariachi director for 23 years, who served as producer of this ambitious project, tells Billboard Español.

This musical treasure trove includes new versions of iconic songs like “No Tengo Dinero,” “Te Lo Ipido Por Favor,” “La Diferencia,” and “Yo No Sé Qué Me Pasó,” as well as invaluable pieces from his catalog including “Las Cartas de Alberto.” Of particular note is “Nunca Es Tarde,” written by Alberto Aguilera Valadez (his real name) for Rocío Dúrcal in 1978, which marks the triumphant return of this ranchero classic almost five decades after its release. Hernández Galicia affirms that while Eterno is an album that “makes us feel that the maestro is still here among us” due to the clarity and integrity of his voice, AI was not used in the making of the LP, and that all of its tracks were recorded over two decades by the iconic performer, but saved until now. Eterno is one of several posthumous works that Juanga’s family is safeguarding, and that will gradually see the light of day. — NATALIA CANO

Melanie Santiler & Cimafunk, “Ese Besito” (MamiFinaRecords)

On the heels of her viral “Todo Se Supera” in collaboration with Velito El Bufón, Melanie Santiler unveils “Ese Besito” with Cimafunk. Co-produced by Javier Sampedro, DJ Conds, Drumglass, and Yoyi Lagarza, with mixing by Jefry Lozano, the breezy tune fuses Latin afrobeat with Caribbean funk and hints of Cuban reparto — giving the musical genre that derives from the barrios in Cuba an edgy twist. Lyrically, “Ese Besito” is flirty and packed with Cuban phrases and slang, combining Santiler’s sugary voice with Cimafunk’s groovier vocals. “That’s why give me that little kiss/ That you owe me for a while now/ If you try me, why should I explain/ I’ll apply a killer psychology to you,” goes the seductive chorus. — J.R.

COASTCITY, Bebo Dumont, “Carrousel” (COASTCITY)

Producer and singer-songwriter duo COASTCITY—formed by Jean Rodríguez and Danny Flores—has collaborated with the Puerto Rican artist Bebo Dumont for “Carrusel.” This captivating track unfolds with a contemporary and vibrant soundscape, artfully blending raw emotions with ethereal synth-pop elements. Through its rich layers and melodies, “Carrusel” serves as a powerful musical metaphor that vividly portrays the tumultuous highs and heart-wrenching lows of an unpredictable, passionate relationship. — INGRID FAJARDO

Pedro Fernández, “Bailando de A Cartón” (Férnandez Music Publishing)

Accompanied by his indispensable mariachi, Pedro Fernández presents a rhythmic, fun-themed song to which he adds his playful tone. “Bailando de a Cartón” is a traditional Mexican term indicating that the couple will dance very close and flirt a lot. “My heart races, I felt like it was going to explode/ I looked at you and I was filled with emotion/ you came to the party and I fell in love/ I picked up my courage and I approached you/ I invited you to dance, I think I blew it.” From the first seconds of the song, the mariachi encourages you to move your feet, and the entrance of the accordion announces that something joyful is about to arrive. — TERE AGUILERA

Musiko & Jay Kalyl, “Tengo Un Dios” (Musiko Music)

Puerto Rican urban artists Musiko and Jay Kalyl team up to sing about their trust in God in “Tengo Un Dios.” In this Caribbean-tinged track with a simple, mid-tempo rhythmic base produced by Townix, the two performers effortlessly alternate verses, sharing personal testimonies that lead to a catchy and heartfelt chorus: “I have a God, a God, who loves me/ He stays with me through thick and thin/ That’s why I’m calm even though I don’t have much, I know/ That I have a God, a God, who loves me.” A song with a contagious melody that fills us with optimism for this final stretch of summer. — LUISA CALLE

The Jonas Brothers promise they’ll be home for Christmas in the first look at the sibling trio’s upcoming family-friendly holiday movie. But based on the brief trailer that dropped on Friday (Sept. 5), Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas will have to overcome some seriously silly obstacles if they’re going to be letting it bro, bro, bro this December.

According to a synopsis of A Very Jonas Christmas Movie — which is slated to premiere globally on Disney+ on Nov. 14 — the trio will “face a series of escalating obstacles as they struggle to make it from London to New York in time to spend Christmas with their families.”

In the trailer, the brothers take a bow in snowy London after a standing-room-only gig, with Kevin lamenting that he hasn’t seen his kids “in like a month.” Meanwhile, Nick FaceTimes with wife Priyanka Chopra and promises he’ll be home for the holidays as she shares a “we love you” from the fam back home. But when Randall Park (Shortcomings) asks them if they’re sure they can make it to the airport without him the next day, Nick assures their minder that it’s just one night. “We’ll be fine,” he says. Famous last words.

Cue the mayhem, as the boys dash through the snow in a stranger’s car, run around London and freak out as a pack of wolves surround them in the woods. “I’m sorry we never got to hear you sing Kevin!” Joe shouts as the snarling lobos close in. “I’m sure your voice is pretty okay!”

The film’s all-star cast also includes: Billie Lourd (The Last Showgirl), Laverne Cox (Doubt), KJ Apa (I Still Believe), Chloe Bennett (Valley Girl), Andrew Barth Feldman (Maybe Happy Ending), Andrea Martin (Only Murders in the Building), Kenny G and producer/songwriter Justin Tranter as themselves, as well as Park and Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Cocaine Bear).

The JoBros — who are also listed as producers — star as themselves in the film directed by Emmy- and Oscar-winner Jessica Yu (Quiz Lady), with some promised cameos from the extended Jonas family universe.

The brothers are still on the road for their 20th anniversary Jonas20: Greetings From Your Hometown tour, which is slated to hit the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif. on Saturday night (Sept. 6).

Alejandro Sanz concluded his 2023 Sanz En Vivo tour in the city of Puebla, located in central Mexico — and in this same place, the iconic Spanish pop artist decided to kick off this week his new world tour, ¿Y Ahora Qué? “Coincidence? I don’t think so!” remarked the singer-songwriter to the 8,000 attendees who packed the Auditorio GNP Seguros on Thursday (Sept. 4) during the second night of the tour, according to figures from OCESA. “There’s something here,” the musician noted.

Sanz’s new trek marks his return to the Latin American country after two years. The first leg of the tour already boasts more than 20 scheduled dates in various Mexican cities, several of which are sold out —including the shows at Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City set for Sept. 12, 13, 17 and 18.

“Thank you so much for welcoming us, for giving us your warmth,” said Sanz, visibly moved. “I always tell [my band] rehearsals are fine, but the concerts are ching-nes (badass). I hope you enjoy it. We want to give you a show filled with music, not ching-deras (nonsense),” he added, using a colloquial Mexican expression.

Dressed in black pants, a brown shirt, and white sneakers, Sanz appeared on stage promptly at 9:00 p.m., guitar in hand, to perform “Desde Cuándo,” from his 2009 album Paraíso Express, encouraging the audience to sing along with him. The 56-year-old Madrid-born star proved that he still enjoys being on stage as much as he did more than three decades ago when he started his career. Tileyard Education has unveiled four new EPs in collaboration with BMG Production Library, marking the third phase of their ongoing partnership designed to spotlight and elevate the next generation of songwriting talent.

The project features 19 tracks written by 76 songwriters, including Tileyard students, alumni and contributors from its international songwriting camps. 

The tracks are now part of BMG’s catalog and primed for sync opportunities across television, film and advertising, with potential placement in shows such as Love Island, Emmerdale and I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!.

Based within Tileyard London, a creative hub that houses more than 150 music businesses and 250 studios, Tileyard Education integrates academic study with professional opportunity. Its partnership with Nottingham Trent University ensures students gain both formal qualifications and direct access to the music industry.

Jamie Searls, managing director of Tileyard Education, called the project proof of what can happen when education and industry intersect: “That’s why I’m so proud of this latest project with BMG, 19 tracks, 76 writers across four EPs, and our third project in an ongoing series. It’s proof of what’s possible when opportunity meets talent.”

For many of the writers involved, the releases mark their first professional placements. Student Alex McLean noted: “I’m lucky enough to have had two songs be a part of the Tileyard Education and BMG deal, which happen to be my first two songs I’ve ever written in a camp. It is an extremely valuable asset to have as it proves my ability to write for brief, opening doors into rooms where I can further pursue my songwriting career.”

The tracks were developed at Tileyard Education’s songwriting camps in London and abroad, most recently in Marrakesh, Morocco, where participants write to real-world briefs under a deadline. All the albums can be heard here.

The British weather might have turned wet, windy and wild this week, but HUNTR/X’s “Golden” still shines bright as it spends a fifth non-consecutive week as U.K. No. 1 (Sep. 5).

The breakout song from Netflix’s hit animation KPop Demon Hunters extends its streak as the Official Singles Chart’s longest-running K-pop No. 1 single; PSY’s “Gangnam Style” is the only other song from the genre to have hit the top spot, doing so for a sole week in 2012. “Golden” is credited to the fictional group HUNTR/X, and is sung by EJAE, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami.

Two additional songs from the flick land in the top 10 with Saja Boys’ “Soda Pop” (No. 5) and “Your Idol” (No. 8) contributing to the film’s dominance. Elsewhere K-pop thrives with girl group TWICE seeing success with two singles – “Takedown” (No. 24) and “Strategy” (No. 32) – landing on the charts. Following their shows at Wembley Stadium, BLACKPINK’s “JUMP” bounces to No. 34.

Olivia Dean’s “Man I Need” finishes the week at No. 2, her highest spot ever on the U.K. Singles Chart. Three other songs also land in the top 40 with “Nice To Each Other” (No. 9), Sam Fender collaboration “Rein Me In” (No. 11) and 2023’s “Dive” (No. 22) all having strong weeks. Last week Dean sold out her entire U.K. arena tour – including four dates at The O2 in London – and “Man I Need” has also cracked the Hot 100, finishing the week at No. 82.

Alongside her triumph on the U.K. Albums Chart with Man’s Best Friend, Sabrina Carpenter places three songs in the top 10 with “Tears” closing the week at No. 3, “Manchild” at No. 4, and “My Man on Willpower” at No. 7.

Following their respective sold-out shows in London, classic hits from Coldplay (“Sparks”, No. 19) and Gorillaz (“Feel Good Inc”, No. 30) both make appearances in the top 40.
