Cardi B and Nicki Minaj have been at each other’s throats for what feels like much of the week. Nicki walked back her insults of Cardi’s daughter Kulture with a public apology on Thursday (Oct. 2), but the Bronx native wasn’t having any of it.

Is Nicki Minaj Teasing the Release Date of a New Album?
“Dear Kulture, truth is: I did all of this for a bigger purpose and one day you’ll understand. You’re a cute child & lots of kids have cute little funny looking gums before they grow into all of their features,” Minaj began on X. “One day you’ll see this, so I have to say: I apologize. As a child of God & QUEEN of my community who look to me for integrity. You’re an innocent child & don’t deserve any of this.”
Minaj leaned into her pettiness while taking shots at Kulture’s mom in her apology. “One day your mother, aunt & many more will be brought to their knees for what they’ve said AND TRIED to do to my young prophet/beautiful boy,” she continued.
Cardi returned the favor minutes later, penning a letter on X to Minaj’s son, Papa Bear, in the same format the Queens rhymer did to her daughter. The “WAP” rapper also voiced that she’s had enough of mentioning kids in their feud, as she’d prefer to leave them out of the beef moving forward. Cardi B didn’t appreciate Minaj’s apology, which she felt wasn’t sincere.
“Don’t give my child no backhanded apology,” Cardi fired back at Nicki in a separate post. “Keep my child name out your mouth cause imma always take you where you don’t wanna go about mine. Honest truth this goin back and forth about kids is really draining my energy. I don’t wanna keep mentioning kids it feels very nasty and dark but the energy you keep giving my kids imma resend back to messenger.”
The insults have been flying in the back-and-forth, and there doesn’t appear to be an end in sight for at least the short term.
Cardi B delivered her long-awaited Am I the Drama? album on Sept. 19, which debuted atop the Billboard 200 with 200,000 album units earned. As for Minaj, Nicki’s gearing up to open the gates of Gag City with a new project on March 27.

Taylor Swift Reveals Whether She Plans to Tour for ‘Life of a Showgirl’: ‘I Would Want to Do It Really Well Again’
Friday Music Guide: New Music From Taylor Swift, Luke Combs, Leon Thomas and More
Luckily for Taylor Swift, she knows a guy, and she’s pretty sure that guy won’t have to be asked twice to perform at her and Travis Kelce‘s wedding, whenever, and wherever, that is. During an interview with the U.K.’s Hits Radio Breakfast Show on Friday (Oct. 3) as part of her promotion of the just-released The Life of a Showgirl album, co-host Fleur East noted that when the morning crew spoke to Ed Sheeran a few weeks ago, “he told us he is constantly asked to perform at people’s weddings,” so, naturally, she asked, “Is he singing at your wedding?”
“It would be hard to keep him from it, I think,” Swift said with a smile of her longtime friend and one-time tour mate as the show’s hosts joked that Sheeran definitely has that jumping-up-at-a-wedding “energy.”
“He’s like, ‘I’m always being asked to sing at weddings,’” Swift said jokingly of Sheeran’s endless enthusiasm to bust out a song. “It’s like, Ed, if there’s a stage you know that you’ll be on it. He knows what people want and he wants to give people what they want. That’s the fun thing about our friendship is we both love performing we love writing and we love singing. So, it’s like we’re like, ‘Oh, don’t make me sing! All right!’”
Swift said it’s actually not that hard to talk herself or Sheeran into performing at “anything.” In fact, the two old pals were at a mutual unnamed friend’s wedding recently and they were chatting about the time Sheeran joined Swift at London’s Wembley Stadium during her Eras Tour and how when they’re in a room rehearsing or writing something together there’s a “strange mind meld thing that happens” between them.
Taylor also reminisced about Sheeran’s great “woods wedding” in December 2018, when he married longtime girlfriend Cheery Seaborn in front of around 40 friends and family at their Christmas nuptials.
While neither Swift nor Kelce have shared any details about when or where they plan to wed, on his New Heights podcast last month the Kansas City Chiefs tight end hinted that they might opt for a band instead of a DJ, saying, “I think we’re live music kind of people.” Either way, so far they’ve got some pretty good options, with Rock Hall of Famers Foreigner offering to be their wedding band and DJ Mark Ronson saying he’d also be happy to man the turntables at their party.

In a series of posts on X on Friday (Oct. 3), the day of the album’s release, the rapper shared some of her thoughts — including her favorite songs. In particular, Minaj was a fan of “Wood,” which she wrote was “EXACTLY what I needed tonight.”

Taylor Swift’s ‘Life of a Showgirl’ Has Already Broken a Spotify Record Just Hours After Its Release
“Oh this writing will go over yall heads,” she added, sharing a few lines from the double-entendre-packed track on Swift’s new LP.
Minaj also praised “Eldest Daughter” — “The writing is always so intentional & always resonates with the AUTHENTIC lone wolves,” she wrote — and title track “The Life of a Showgirl,” which features Sabrina Carpenter. “I love how animated Sabrina came in on her verse,” the hip-hop titan gushed. “She’s fully in character. She gets it.”
And as a star who isn’t shy about beefing with others publicly, Minaj was bound to favor “Actually Romantic” (a diss track fans are speculating is about Charli XCX) as well. “Taylor said ‘I heard you called me boring Barbie when the Coke’s got your brain,’” she posted. “Why all the SAG’s giving out lashings tonight? Oh wow. and #Cancelled is diabolical … Let’s go TAYLOR!!!!!!”
“GO IN FOR THE KILL, TAYLOR,” Minaj added. “The fact that Taylor is a battle rapper is sending me.”
Swift and the Queen of Rap have long been fans of one another’s work. Since 2010, Minaj has credited the Eras Tour headliner with helping “Super Bass” take off by speaking so highly of the song when it first dropped. And though the two women had a brief social media spat in 2015 — which they quickly resolved and put to bed with a joint performance at the VMAs — they’ve stayed supportive of one another over the years.
In December 2023, Minaj said that she would collaborate with her fellow Sagittarius in a “heart beat.”
“The [SAGITTARIUS] QUEEN TAYLOR DESERVES!!!! PERIOD!!!!!” she added at the time. “She takes months & years off then comes back with great music & fans who’ll never leave her!!!!”
But while Swift is on the receiving end of praise on Minaj’s X profile, the other music star the rapper has been posting about lately couldn’t be farther from it. For several days, Minaj and Card B have been embroiled in a vicious back-and-forth on the platform, with the two women trading sharp barbs about each other’s appearances and children.
Swift’s name was actually brought into the feud at one point. After Minaj taunted Cardi by saying the Bronx native wasn’t able to “outsell” her, Cardi fired back, “You been in the game like 16 years.”
“You need to compare yourself to YOUR peers that started around YOUR time. Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Drake,” Cardi continued at the time. “Those are the numbers you need to be competing wit and you can’t cuz you doing lower than all of them. I was in high school when you came out wtf is you comparing yourself to me for???”

New Music Latin is a compilation of the best new Latin songs and albums recommended by Billboard and Billboard Español editors. Check out this week’s picks below.
Wampi, El Rey de la Habana (Awaken Music Corp/Virgin Music Latin)
Wampi has dropped his highly-awaited debut studio album, El Rey de la Habana — featuring songs he composed, produced and played on. Spearheading a new wave of Reparto music stars, the Cuban artist born Dasiel Mustelier Oruña delivers 13 tracks that go beyond his signature and progressive Reparto sound. “Chacha” with Los Van Van is a soft salsa-cha-cha fusion; “Nostalgia” is a reflective ballad; “2000s” is a sensual R&B tune; “Que Bola” is a groovy funk assisted by Cimafunk; and “La Última” is a heartfelt love song joined by Leoni Torres. But on his new set, Wampi — a studied musician — passionately hones in on the Cuban urban genre that made him a household name: “Veni,” “Rica y To,’” “Tinguili” with pioneers Harryson and Adonis MC, and “Talentosa” with Maffio, all of which attest to his rich Reparto sound. — JESSICA ROIZ
Young Miko, “Meiomi” (Wave Music Group)
There’s a dichotomy that often powers Young Miko’s artistry: soft, vulnerable and at the same time hard-hitting and bold. The Puerto Rican hitmaker’s “Meiomi” is no exception. Powered by a mellow-yet rhythmic Afrobeats tune, the cheeky track finds Miko lusting over a stripper in this seductive narrative that captures an undeniable connection between the two. Produced by Mauro, Miko’s go-to collaborator, “Meiomi” serves as the beginning of a “new era” for Miko, according to a press release, as she’s also announced her upcoming sophomore album, which will follow her 2024 LP att. Young Miko is also set to join Billie Eilish for eight of her Hit Me Hard & Soft Tour dates in the U.S. See the dates here. — GRISELDA FLORES
Camila Fernández, El Mimoso Luis Antonio López, “Culpa Mía” (Universal Music Group México)
Camila Fernández continues to affirm her place as a rising star in Mexican music with the extended version of her third album, La Fernández, which includes four new songs. The focus track, “Culpa Mía,” a duet with El Mimoso Luis Antonio López, is a melancholic ranchera that continues to solidify the album’s original theme of loss and heartbreak. With gloomy-yet-gorgeous accordion melodies driven against acoustic guitars and a tololoche, the song showcases the vulnerability of a crumbling relationship through an emotional dialogue between two lovers. But above all, Fernández and El Mimoso’s voices shine extraordinarily beautifully, delivering a performance that lingers even after its final note. — ISABELA RAYGOZA
Ricky Martin, Carín León, “A Medio Vivir” (Sony Music Latin)
Three decades after its original release, Ricky Martin teamed up with Carín León for a new version of his 1995 hit “A Medio Vivir.” Joined by León’s rich, raspy vocals, the poignant lyrics (penned by Franco De Vita) resonate with the deep-seated grief that often accompanies heartbreak and the bittersweet experience of lost love. Each verse is a heartfelt exploration of sorrow, capturing the complexity of human emotions in the face of separation. Accompanying this powerful musical revival is a music video directed by Carlos Pérez, creative director at Elastic People, encapsulating the essence of emotional tempestuousness that one might envision as an “internal madhouse.” — INGRID FAJARDO
Natalia Lafourcade, “La Cometierra” (Sony Music México)
The Mexican singer-songwriter pleasantly surprises with her foray into rap and spoken word in “La Cometierra,” a powerful urban-tinged song that tells the story of a girl with the gift of finding the missing. The piece is the theme song of the new Prime Video original series, inspired by the acclaimed novel of the same name by Dolores Reyes, which portrays gender-based violence and disappearances in Mexico. Co-produced by Cheche Alara and mixed by Michael H. Brauer, the track is more than a musical piece; it becomes a social manifesto about the land and roots that joins the necessary call to action in the face of the serious problem of violence in the country. — NATALIA CANO
Dale Pututi & Nesty, “Imaginando” (Plus Media)
In what seems to be a musical journey to the future, Cuban breakout artists Dale Pututi and Nesty wrap their joint EP 2049 with the release of “Imaginando.” Coined as the fourth chapter of this sonic saga—following “Luna,” “Pa La Pin Pin” with L Kimii, and “Fan de mi Caracter” with Wow Poppy — “Imaginando,” co-produced by RoMn Beatz and Dale Pututi (real name: Alejandro Arce), is a ultra-sensual Reparto tune powered by mellow ukulele chords and a hard-hitting clave sound. Lyrically, the two Miami-based artists join their honey-like melodious vocals to narrate a song that describes a sultry and lustful relationship: “Estaba aqui pensando/ imaginandote en mi nota/ Con ganas de verte y besarte la boca” (“I was here thinking/ imagining you in my mood/ With the desire to see you and kiss your lips”), Pututi starts off singing. — J.R.
Los Rieleros del Norte, “Maldito Corazón” (FONO/UMG Recordings)
Los Rieleros del Norte take us through different emotions in “Maldito Corazón,” from heartbreak to disappointment, and even overcoming a complicated relationship in this song written by renowned composer Luciano Luna. The band’s distinctive sax adds a melancholic yet dramatic touch that, combined with the lyrics, invites us not to fall in love again without caution, avoiding hurt. “God save me from you coming back into my life one more time/ It was the worst stone I could have stumbled on/ I had almost no regrets/ And after being with you, I’ll never fall in love again,” says chorus. “Maldito Corazón” is the preview of Los Rieleros del Norte’s upcoming album due in November. — TERE AGUILERA

Alex Warren and sombr, who squared off against each other for best new artist at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 7, are going head-to-head again. Both are among the 337 artists who are vying for a Grammy nomination for best new artist. First-round voting opened on Friday (Oct. 3) and will continue through Oct. 15. The 68th annual Grammy nominations will be announced on Nov. 7.

All six artists who competed for best new artist at the VMAs are entered here – Warren (who won), sombr, The Marías, Ella Langley, Gigi Perez and Lola Young. (At the VMAs, the latter three acts were eliminated before the final round of voting.)
Four of the five artists who are nominated for new artist of the year at the CMA Awards on Nov. 19 are entered here – Langley, Zach Top, Tucker Wetmore and Stephen Wilson Jr. (The fifth CMA nominee, Shaboozey, received five Grammy nominations, including best new artist, last year.)
The screening committee that had the final say on Grammy eligibility in this category was so inclusive that it allowed three artists who were nominated for new artist of the year at the 2024 CMA Awards – Megan Moroney (who won), Zach Top and Bailey Zimmerman. (Artists can receive two nods for new artist of the year at the CMAs. Moroney was first nominated in that category in 2023.)
Three of the nine artists who competed for best new artist at the BET Awards on June 9 are on the Grammy entry list – Leon Thomas (who won), BigXthaPlug and October London. Thomas’ eligibility was in question because he won a Grammy for best R&B song two years ago for co-writing SZA’s hit “Snooze,” and had prior releases as a recording artist. But the screening committee decided it would be fairer to let him in than to kick him out.
Two of the five artists who were nominated for emerging artist of the year at the Americana Music Honors & Awards on Sept. 10 are entered – MJ Lenderman (who won) and Jesse Welles.
Two of the five artists who competed for best new artist at the Brit Awards are entered – Ezra Collective and Myles Smith. Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso, which finished second to Bad Bunny in most nominations for the upcoming Latin Grammys, is entered.
Other buzzy artists on the entry list, not already mentioned, include Gavin Adcock, aespa, Amyl and the Sniffers, ATEEZ, Babymetal, Barry Can’t Swim, Blondhsell, Ken Carson, Central Cee, Olivia Dean, Dijon, Djo, ENHYPEN, Sam Fender, FLO, Alex G, Riley Green, JADE, KATSEYE, Key Glock, Ravyn Lenae, Lil Tecca, Mariah the Scientist, Parker McCollum, Jessie Murph, Mustafa, Keke Palmer, Pink Pantheress, Addison Rae, Reneé Rapp, The Red Clay Strays, Role Model, Royel Otis and Sleep Token and Tito Double P.
While the Grammys set a minimum number of releases an artist must have to qualify in this category (five singles/tracks or one album), there is no maximum. Instead, the Grammys’ rules and guidelines booklet says nominations for the honor hinge on when “the artist had attained a breakthrough or prominence” — and it delegates that determination to a screening committee.
Artists are allowed to appear on the entry list for best new artist three times, after which they are ruled ineligible for future consideration.
The rules in this category have changed over the years as the Recording Academy has struggled to strike just the right balance: not too strict, not too lenient. In the past, the academy has sometimes disqualified artists for reasons that may now seem petty; take Whitney Houston, who had recorded a couple of duets prior to releasing her debut album and was therefore deemed ineligible, or singer-songwriter Richard Marx, who had contributed a song to a soundtrack. Other times, the academy has leaned too far in the other direction. Robert Goulet won in 1963, two years after he became a star in the Broadway musical Camelot. When Alessia Cara claimed the prize in 2018, it was nearly two years after her ballad “Here” hit the top five on the Hot 100.
Three past winners for best new artist – Crosby, Stills & Nash (who won in 1970), Jody Watley (1988) and Lauryn Hill (1999) – wouldn’t be eligible under today’s rules. David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash were all already known for their work in previous groups, as were Watley (in Shalamar) and Hill (Fugees).
A total 337 artists are eligible for best new artist this year, up from 323 last year, but down from 405 in 2023.
First-round voting opened Friday (Oct. 3). Voters have until Oct. 15 to make their choices. Nominations will be announced on Nov. 7. Final-round voting runs from Dec. 12 through Jan. 5. The winners will be revealed on Feb. 1 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Olivia Dean’s ‘The Art of Loving’: All 12 Tracks Ranked
Friday Music Guide: New Music From Taylor Swift, Luke Combs, Leon Thomas and More
The Curtain Finally Rises on Taylor Swift’s ‘The Life of a Showgirl’: Stream It Now
The British singer’s second LP, The Art of Loving, debuts atop the Official Albums Chart in its opening week, with “Man I Need” also reaching the top spot of the Singles Chart. She’s the first British female solo artist to achieve the feat since Adele in 2021.
The Art of Loving is Dean’s first U.K. No. 1 album, with her debut LP, Messy (2023), peaking at No. 4. The album earned 53,000 chart units across physicals, downloads and streaming over the past week, and gives her 2025’s fifth biggest opening week after Sam Fender, Sabrina Carpenter, Ed Sheeran and Lady Gaga.
“Man I Need” topples KPop Demon Hunters smash hit “Golden” after the latter ruled for eight weeks. The song is Dean’s first No. 1 in the U.K. and spent the last five weeks behind “Golden” at No. 2. The track is now up to No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Speaking to Billboard for the latest Chartbreaker column, Dean reflected on the success of “Man I Need” and the creation of the record. “What’s lovely to me is that ‘Man I Need’ was made out of such a moment of joy,” Dean said. “That seems to be what it’s bringing and the feeling surrounding it. You can’t really ask for more.”
Dean appears twice more on the U.K. Singles Chart this week, with “Nice to Each Other” (No. 4) and “So Easy (To Fall In Love)” (No. 10) both seeing success.
On the U.K. Albums Chart, Sabrina Carpenter’s Man’s Best Friend closes the week at No. 2, and Little Mix member Perrie Edwards’ solo debut, Perrie, peaks at No. 3. Robert Plant’s Saving Grace lands at No. 4, and Doja Cat’s Vie rounds out the week at No. 5. Hyped rock band Geese achieve a personal chart high with third LP Getting Killed finishing at No. 26.
Over on the Singles Chart, “Golden” falls just one place to No. 2 and another song from KPop Demon Hunters, Saja Boys’ “Soda Pop,” ends the week at No. 5. “Golden” is currently tied for the all-time record for the longest running U.K. No. 1 single for an animated artist; The Archies’ “Sugar Sugar” also ruled on the U.K. Singles Chart for eight weeks back in 1969.
RAYE’s comeback single, “Where Is My Husband!,” rises one spot to No. 3, and follows news of an Ivors Academy Honour in London on Thursday (Oct. 3).

Asking an artist to pick her favorite album track is kind of like asking a parent to pick their preferred child. But, alas, the Capital Breakfast crew over in the U.K. did it during Taylor Swift‘s first radio interview since Friday’s (Oct. 3) release of her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl on album release day and Swift did not hesitate.

The singer sat down with Jordan North and Sian Welby, with North getting right to the heat of the matter with a question about which of the 12 new songs are in heavy rotation for Swift’s fiancé, NFL star Travis Kelce. “I think that is his favourite he loves that one,” Swift said of the mid-tempo third song, “Opalite,” a track about dancing through the ashes of her past romances until finding the one true thing.
“I have favorite words and favorite phrases and things that I will put in an endless file of lyrics that I’m just constantly going to and cherry picking from when I’m writing,” Swift explained. “And I had written down the word ‘Opalite’ because I learned that it is actually a manmade Opal. Opal can be man-made just like diamonds. Travis’ birthstone is an opal, so I have always fixated on that, and I’ve always loved that stone. And I thought it was kind of a cool metaphor that manmade Opal and happiness can also be manmade too. So that is kind of what the song is about the kind of juxtaposition of those two.”
On the track, Swift sings, “Life is a song, it ends when it ends/ You move on/ And that’s when I told you, ‘it’s alright’/ You were dancing through the lightning strikes/ Sleeping in the onxy night/ But now the sky is opalite/ Oh-oh-oh my Lord.”
Swift also revealed her favorite song on the album is the dream manifesting “Wi$h Li$t,” on which she runs down a roster of all the things that would make her life complete, topped, of course, by true love. “That means the world to me because that might be my favorite too!” she told North when he declared it his pick to click.
Speaking to Magic Radio, Swift said she knew she had the “perfect album” lined up — while admitting that such a thing is “unattainable” — when she wrote “Wi$h Li$t,” one of the last songs tracked during the Showgirl sessions with producers Max Martin and Shellback. “It’s a very accurate stance on where I’m at in life, it was a feeling of we’re done now,” she said. “I sometimes I’ve written very sprawling albums before where I just couldn’t stop writing and there’s something to that too, if that’s the project you’re making, but this was not that.”
Elsewhere in the interview with Capital Breakfast, Swift said that this LP is different because typically when she records an album it can be up to a year until it drops, so “your life can change a lot between when you made it and when you put it out.” But with Showgirl, “it’s exactly where I’m at in my life. I’m exactly in the same spot as I was when I made this record, so it feels very accurate to my life experience right now, which feels kind of cool.”
And, because Swift is the queen of thoughtful gifts, the Capital gang got her one, an adorable opalite kitten nested in a green box inside an orange bag. “It’s the perfect present! It’s so cute,” Swift raved about Welby’s present, then freaking out again when North presented her with a sourdough loaf featuring bread-based puns on the album’s song titles, including “Actually Doughmatic” and “The Fate of Doughphelia.”
The party will carry on this weekend with screenings of the 89-minute Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, which reportedly features the music video for the album’s opener and lead single, “The Fate of Ophelia,” along with lyric videos for the other tracks and Swift’s insight on the new songs. “I hereby invite you to a dazzling soirée,” Swift wrote when sharing the news on Instagram. “Dancing is optional but very much encouraged.” The film will run during release weekend, from Friday (Oct. 3) through Sunday (Oct. 5), with tickets available on the event’s website.

Diddy is slated to be sentenced in his federal case on Friday (Oct. 3) following his June conviction on prostitution charges, while he evaded the more serious sex trafficking charges.

The embattled Bad Boy mogul’s team made a final 11th-hour plea ahead of sentencing with the release of a video montage featuring plenty of the community work Diddy has participated in over the years. According to Fox5 New York, the video is to be played at his sentencing hearing.
The clip revisits Diddy’s participation in the 2003 New York City Marathon, which he completed in just over four hours despite experiencing severe leg cramps. Combs’ running ended up raising $2 million for charity.
Diddy emphasized the importance of education and discipline, and he took matters into his own hands by helping to open schools, including the Capital Preparatory Harlem Charter School in 2016, as well as the Capital Prep Bronx Charter School. A reported $1 million donation from Diddy assisted in opening the Bronx school during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
“I worked hard just like you guys are working. This world we live in may have a plan for y’all, I didn’t listen to that. I don’t want y’all to listen to that either,” Diddy said while speaking to students in the video. “Y’all are great, y’all are kings, y’all are queens, y’all are leaders. I just got so excited because this is truly a dream come true for me.”
There’s a pivot to Diddy’s love for his family as footage of the late Kim Porter appears alongside cameos from his children, who open up about their relationship with their father. “I love how you inspire me to keep going, to never stop following my dreams and to always believe in myself,” Christian “King” Combs said in the video.
Federal prosecutors believe Diddy deserves 11 years behind bars for what they call his “decades of abuse,” while a letter to the judge penned by Cassie Ventura referred to Combs as a “cruel, power-hungry, manipulative man.”
