After promising that Don’t Be Dumb would arrive before year’s end, A$AP Rocky revealed the Tim Burton-assisted cover art for the long-awaited album on Tuesday (Dec. 17).

Rihanna hopped into Rocky’s Instagram comment section, showing love to her man for his hard work on the project. “Sooo f—in proud!!!! LETS GOOOO BABY,” she gushed.

RiRi wasn’t the only star to chime in, as music peers like Pusha T, Ty Dolla $ign, Westside Gunn and Smino gave Rocky his flowers.

While Don’t Be Dumb remains without a release date, the Harlem rapper apologized to fans for the delays. “SORRY 4 THE WAIT DON’T BE DUMB FINALLY HERE! THANKS TIM BURTON FOR HELPING ME MAKE THIS MOVIE! COMING SOON,” he wrote.

It’s unclear what Tim Burton’s involvement exactly is, but the decorated filmmaker appears to have been a sounding board for Rocky. Burton is best known for directing films such as Edward Scissorhands, Batman and Mars Attacks!.

“I sat and I played the album for Tim Burton, and he was f–king with it heavy,” Rocky told Billboard in his cover story last year. “He was rocking his head and he’s like, ‘Wow! I didn’t know you made that kind of music!’”

In November, as part of Variety‘s Hollywood Issue, A$AP Rocky revealed that Burton’s composer Danny Elfman scored “a bunch of the song” on his album.

“Danny Elfman, he just did my album with me that I’m putting out this year,” Rocky said. “He scored a bunch of the songs on my album.”

Rocky possibly alluded to a Jan. 16 release date when he hit the stage at Camp Flog Gnaw in November with “01162026” emblazoned across the sleeve of his hoodie.

Fatherhood has become a top priority for Rocky, as Rihanna gave birth to her third child with the rapper in September. The superstar couple welcomed their first daughter on Sept. 13, Rocki Irish Mayers.

As 2025 comes to a close, it’s time to take stock and reflect, but also to begin turning our collective attention to what comes next. In 2026, a number of long-simmering situations in the music business may finally come to a head, including multiple long-running lawsuits, pending technological changes, major acquisitions and negotiations that have dragged on and are nearing a conclusion.

If 2025 was the year that artificial intelligence came to the forefront both technologically and culturally, 2026 will be the year that it truly makes a monumental impact on the music business — whether through the songwriting process, the determination of legal frameworks around copyright or establishing the role that AI-assisted artists will play in the industry.

Related

Arms of various governments will also begin to weigh in and decide significant issues, including the Department of Justice’s antitrust probe into Live Nation, Congress’ investigation of the operations of several newer performance rights organizations and the European Commission’s assessment of Universal Music Group’s acquisition of Downtown. Other topics are only growing in importance as the calendar flips over: the Phono V hearings, the idea of sustainability in touring and at venues, the long-running battle over bundling between Spotify and the MLC, Daniel Ek’s transition to executive chairman at the streaming service, the possibility that U.S. copyright termination rights could extend globally, the role of politics in artists’ lives and much more.

So, as 2026 approaches, here are 14 questions for the music business that will be addressed and decided in the next year. — Dan Rys

GMA Dove Award winner Forrest Frank is seeing top-tier demand for his upcoming 29-city, 2026 The Jesus Generation Tour, which has already sold over 470,000 tickets, with several shows already selling out, including concerts in Detroit, Los Angeles, Dallas, Nashville and Phoenix. The artist presale for the new tour opened up on Dec. 10, with the public onsale following on Dec. 12.

The UTA-booked and TPR-presented tour will welcome special guests Tori Kelly, Cory Asbury and The Figs. The trek will follow Frank’s sold-out Child of God Tour Part 2 which wrapped earlier this year. The 2026 tour will feature in-the-round staging and several massive outdoor venues.

“Forrest is such a force. He continues to stay on the path that he feels led to follow,” UTA’s Jonathan Roberts told Billboard in a statement. “His authenticity, coupled with a constant release of songs that captivate audiences globally, has culminated in the most in-demand tour in Christian music history. More broadly, it shines a spotlight on how Christian music continues to impact culture and is only going to blaze a trail for other artists to follow in the years to come.”

The upcoming tour follows a record-breaking year for Frank. His albums have been at No. 1 for 45 weeks on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums chart in 2025, marking the most weeks any act has spent at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums chart in a calendar year in the modern era (since the chart began using Luminate’s electronically tracked information in April 1995). The previous record was held by Ye, whose Donda album spent 43 weeks at the chart’s pinnacle in 2022.

Additionally, Frank has charted 45 songs on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs chart in 2025 and has had 12 No. 1s in 2025 on that chart.

Frank’s “Your Way’s Better” entered Billboard’s Hot 100 this year, and was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. His album Child of God finished the year as the No. 1 2025 Billboard Year-End Top Christian Album, with his Child of God II album finishing at No. 2 on that chart.

This year, Frank followed “Your Way’s Better” with a surge of other viral hits, including “God’s Got My Back,” “Lemonade” (with The Figs), “Selah,” “The Rock” (with Crowder), “Misunderstood” (with Cory Asbury) and “Jesus Is Coming Back Soon” (with Josiah Queen).

“Your Way’s Better” ended the year at No. 2 on the 2025 Year-End Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart, while several of his songs placed in the top 30 on that year-end chart, including the Thomas Rhett collab “Nothing Else,” as well as “Celebration,” “Lemonade” (with The Figs), “Amen” and “Good Day.”

Frank picked up several GMA Dove Awards wins this year, including the ceremony’s top honor, artist of the year. He is also nominated for two Grammys at next year’s ceremony, including best contemporary Christian Music performance/song (“Your Way’s Better”) and best contemporary Christian Music album (Child of God II). On radio, “Your Way’s Better” rose to No. 3 on Billboard’s Christian AC and Christian Airplay charts.

Frank also just released the new song “Thankful.”

21 Savage is looking to play peacemaker. The Slaughter Gang boss called for Young Thug and Gunna to end their long-standing feud on Wednesday (Dec. 17).

21 took to X to set the record straight on some drama between central hip-hop figures, and he kicked off the Twitter storm mentioning Thug and Gunna, where he pleaded with the former YSL duo to reunite and put their beef to the side.

“@gunna @youngthug Yall n—s fix that sh-t yall love each other n—a you knew gunna wasn’t no gangster when he told the first time and we swept it under the rug for you you know he wasn’t tryna leave you to hang n—a f–k the streets we ain’t get sh-t but trauma from that sh-t,” he wrote.

Gunna and Young Thug have been at odds since the YSL RICO trial, when Gunna accepted an Alford plea deal in December 2022, which led Thugger to believe his mentee had snitched on him to receive a lighter sentence. Thug eventually reached a plea deal to secure his release from jail in October 2024.

The duo hasn’t communicated much since their respective releases, and they haven’t collaborated on any new music releases either.

21 added on X: “Last year I was the realest n—a for tryna stop thug from exposing gunna now im fake lol.”

Savage then turned his focus to Lil Baby, in an effort to iron out the issues between Baby, Thug and Gunna.

“You one of the realest young n—s out this sh-t admit slime was moving the goal post and we was standing behind him cuz we love him my brother,” he wrote.

Looking to restore the unity in Atlanta, 21 also attempted to have Migos reunite, while revealing he had a group text with Offset and Quavo, as he tried to have them communicate before their feud reached a boiling point.

“@QuavoStuntin @offset yall n—s tell the world I put yall on group text and told yall squash it before it even got far n—a if yall was still together yall would be unstoppable,” 21 continued.

21 Savage had one question that doubles as his new album title, What Happened to the Streets?. The project arrived on Friday (Dec. 12), which harped on a prevalent theme of the Atlanta street code 21 was raised on which he believes has eroded over the last few years.

Jack Harlow showed up to the Marty Supreme movie premiere in New York Tuesday night, sporting an interesting footwear choice for the red carpet.

The “First Class” rapper posed for photographers wearing a fitted beige turtleneck, baggy brown pants and… UGG Classic Mini Boots. Yes, the same cozy UGG boots that people typically wear to run errands or to lounge around the house had a surprising moment in the spotlight in front of other stars like Gwyneth Paltrow, Timothee Chalamet and Tyler the Creator, who were all there to support the new film (no word on whether Chalamet, who recently wore the UGG Classic Short Boots courtside at an NBA game, spotted Harlow’s footwear fit on the carpet).

The rapper’s strange footwear pick may have turned heads, but perhaps it’s not entirely unfounded: after all, UGG says its boots can be worn outdoors, and the weather in New York was chillingly brisk, hovering around 30 degrees during the premiere, which would have made these shearling boots something nice and warm to slip into.

UGG Men’s Classic Mini Boot

The iconic UGG boot is in stock and shipping now for the holidays, available in a “Chestnut” or black colorway at UGG.com; Zappos also has the boot in a “Dusted Cocoa” and “Hickory” color. Choose from sizes 7 to 18.

Harlow sported the UGG Classic Mini, which features the brand’s now-legendary sheepskin lining, made from real fur humanely-sourced from sheep or lambs from Australia, Ireland, the U.S. or the U.K. The natural sheepskin keeps your feet cozy but also helps to wick away moisture; the EVA outsole, meantime, lets you wear these boots outside (like Harlow), with grippy traction and a comfortable fit.

Chalamet, meantime, was sported courtside at a New York Knicks game wearing a pair of UGG Classic Short Boots in the Chestnut colorway. These boots are slightly taller than the “Mini” boots Harlow wore, but feature the same lightweight suede construction and sheepskin lining. Chalamet paired hits UGG boots with baggy athletic trousers and a quarter-zip sweatshirt.

Over the years, Taylor Swift has dabbled in television and film work. (And ultimately has plans to make her feature directorial debut in the future.) Famously, though, there’s one part she auditioned for which she did not receive — Eponine in the Tom Hopper-directed Les Miserables.

In an interview with Graham Norton in 2022, Swift hilariously recounts the process. “I was auditioning for two roles in Les Mis and I had done a few auditions and gone to New York and whatever. I think it had been established that I had more of the look of Cosette, but I had the range vocally of Eponine. So it was established that I was there for a good time, not a long time,” she explained. “But they were like, ‘You know, do you want to come to London for one last screen test? And you’ll get to screen test with Eddie Redmayne.’ And I’m like, ‘This sounds like an experience I want to have in my life.”

“I get there and they are like, ‘OK, so we really want to make you look like Eponine.’ She wasn’t, like, loaded. She had brown teeth, she didn’t have a lot of money,” she continued. “So they are like, ‘We’re actually going to paint your teeth brown for this,’ and I’m like, ‘So you’re going to do that after I meet Eddie Redmayne, right? That’s not something you do before, I get to meet people and then you do the brown teeth.’ They’re like, ‘No no, everybody’s going to meet you with the brown teeth and we’re going to do big circles under your eyes, like you’re near death.’ I was like, ‘This has immediately become a nightmare for me.’”

And although she wasn’t cast, she has other credits to her name, before and since. Below, scroll through all of her screen roles, ranked.

Taylor Swift has had many chic accessories over the years, but her recent accessories as of late is an unexpected one.

Swifties know that the “Blank Space” singer has always been into photography, capturing meaningful moments on retro-inspired tech. While she’s best known for her use of the Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV, the musician has added a new retro model into her rotation, as seen during her appearance in the stands at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Dec. 14 game. The musician captured moments in the stands and on the field with Camp Snaps’ CS-8 Digital Video Camera, a retro-inspired model currently retailing for $199.

The model was made in limited quantities and can be shipped to Swifties immediately after purchase, so it’ll arrive just in time to open under the Christmas tree. To ensure your CS-8 arrives in time for the holidays, we recommend ordering ASAP. Camp Snap’s tech has sold out numerous times, thanks in part to Swift, so if you want the camera, you’d better get your hands on it now.

Digital camera, video camera, Taylor Swift, gifting, holiday, shopping, retro tech

CS-8 Digital Video Camera

A reusable retro-inspired camera.

The digital video camera is inspired by the Super 8 camera — just reimagined for today. The camera is rechargeable, features no playback screen and no instant previews. When you film on a CS-8, you can choose your aspect ratio controlled with the crank of a dial, capturing cinematic scenes at a music festival or classic home-movie moments. Users can also scroll through vintage-inspired filters to change up the scene, giving your videos an old-timey feel with black-and-white or a textured look with the analog setting.

A built-in microphone captures crisp and clear audio, ideal for concertgoers, while a built-in stand stabilizes your hand, letting you capture steady footage every time. When you press the trigger, it records a new video file, which is excellent for capturing moments in short bursts. There’s also a wrist strap that helps keep the camera tethered to you at all times. The digital camera comes with a 4GB memory card, which holds around 30 minutes of footage. It does, however, work with an up to 128GB SD card, which will record up to 16 hours of video.
